Saving my flint when practicing with crafts like LA, MA, HA, and Woodworking

I've got lots of flint saved up. I was considering learning light armor or woodworking. But when I go to craft it automatically adds flint to make whatever it is I'm crafting "Argonian style". I'd like to save that for after I can make something useful at higher levels, not waste it on practicing. I haven't seen any obvious way to deselect this. Is it not possible or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!

You can buy all of the basic racial style materials from all the crafting vendors near crafting stations for 15g. I don't see the point in saving a ton of them when they are so easily available and cheap.

But I would advise hanging on to Copper, Palladium, Daedra Hearts and Argentum as they're not available from vendors and you'll only get them from deconstructing, from looting containers and I think occasionally from hirelings.

You can find most racial stones in stacks of 100 for 250-500gp in trading guilds. They are very very common.

Yep, I always destroy my crafting style gems. You can buy them from the vendor that's standing next to the crafting station. The ONLY reason you'd need to keep some on you (or in the bank) is if you're crafting set pieces out in the world crafting locations.

Im in an open trading guild where we store racial stones and trait gems in the bank for general use. If you want to use another racial type you will need to learn it from the motif. If youre only interested in using flint then dont worry, it is everywhere.

Good to know! I leveled up Provisioning and Alchemy to 50 on another character but I had zero knowledge about other types of crafting. Thanks! :)

note that this is ONLY true for the standard styles; do NOT destroy daedra hearts, palladium, argentum, copper.. or.. forgot the rest... but hold on to those; even if you don't mean to use them, they are actually worth some coin if you sell em to players

Once I get the respective motifs I WILL be buying these.
