The terms of service is a legally binding contract. One which you without being coerced or manipulated accepted. Ignorance is not an excuse. You were given a copy of the contract to read for yourself, and it explicitly stated that you would not engage in certain behaviors while using their product, and it expressly told you that you weren't to use vulgar names, or even names that could be seen as being vulgar.

You chose to do so in spite of that, and they would have been entirely justified if they had decided to ban your account outright. Instead they seem to have just decided it was easier to delete the offensive avatar from their database. I can't say as I am sorry if that is what transpired. Whether we like it or not there are young children present.

What it all boils down to is simple respect. Having respect for yourself surely, but also having respect for others. When you behave disrespectfully. You serve as a bad role model to others. You shouldn't have done what you did. You knew it was wrong, but you did it anyway. It would be funny if they just deleted that account outright. It might just discourage further bad behavior on your part. Not just in this game, but in any games you play in the future.

You should be given the option to rename. It IS not fun being locked out of the game/character, BUT there are limits. Honestly if I had seen your name I would have reported you, just like I have reported the other names I have found inappropriate.

Respect others. Mature rating or not, if you pick a name that your Mother wouldn't approve of, you know you are pushing your luck.

Indeed it is an MMO, however the TOS applies every time you hit the "Play" button, you should read it sometime. However, with the type of language you used to reply....it is obviously you didn't.

You know how touchy people are playing games online. They will report you just to have a chuckle at your expense, it thrills some to know they are causing trouble for others. Others actually think they are causing positive change in the world...

    It's the internet!

considering how names dont appear and u have to target a player for the name to show up on ur screen its pretty dam sensitive if u r "offended"

its like if dont want to watch a tv show, with the remote control at ur availability, instead u choose not to switch the channel and demand it gets taken off the air

They have a guild named Molag Balls Deep. I chuckled but some would take offense.

I have a twisted sense of humor though.

Suprised no ones done a minimarco :) or manicmarco :), I wonder if they are taken (runs to character creator). Yeah I doubt its ball part although it could be seen as a swear word, it also means to mess up in English slang.

Your type of logic just cracks me up. First off, you are only listing half truths. If the "offending" play says anything is zone, say, group, guild or yell....the name will also appear, so your TV analogy does not apply. Secondly......just because your car goes 120mph....does not mean you drive everywhere at that speed. There are LAWS you must adhere to in order to drive, just like there are rules you must adhere to in game called *drum roll* the TERMS OF SERVICE, and seeing your post was edited by an admin here on the forums, you obviously have not read them.

Too bad they don't sell IQ tests as a prerequisite to play the game, it would almost be a ghost town. >:)

So I was in game with my friends and we were about ready to do the group dungeon in eastmarch. As I enter the dungeon I appear to be on a forever loading screen. So I force quit the game and the I start ESO again. When I log in and try to enter my character it said "ERROR CHARACTER IS LOCKED" and it popped up with something and said "TYPE IN YOUR NAME" I type in my character's name which is Molag's Balls. and then it locks him and quits the game for me.

Since I know it had something to with my characters name, but I was still confused I contacted customer support, here was the reply.

I'm glad it happened to you. Your locked character is very well deserved. I see you achieved the level of attention you wanted (I hope), now make an appropriate name.

Then you should of learned through your "many years" of playing MMO, follow the TOS and it would never be an issue. Such a simple concept and after "many years" of playing MMO's people still wonder why their name gets the nerf stick. /shrug

In SWTOR I had the same forum name as I use here, and someone reported me and I was forced to choose a new forum name. Hell, they devoted an entire thread to getting me kicked off the NA servers because they were convinced I was a EU player making fun of Americans.

First off I don't have an issue with the name and would get a chuckle out of it if I saw it in game. Again, I will beat the TOS drum until I am blue in the face. They have a TOS in place for obvious reasons and you agree to it each time you hit the play button. You don't have to like it, however you have to agree to it to PLAY their game.

NaciremaDiputs was what it was at first. I use it in all the games I play. When they complained about it on the swtor forums, the mods made me change my forum avatar to one of my alts, but let me keep the character name in the game. Which I found oddly amusing.

I bet you are the type of person that doesn't mind eating in a fine food establishment and take issue with the sign they have out in front that states "No shirt / No shoes - NO Service" right? The TOS is hardly Draconian.

Sorry, but any software rules of service are draconian by their very nature. There is no right of appeal and the company's decision is final. The only time legality comes into it is if the terms are deemed illegal.

Other than that, lol k whatever you say.

Molags Balls is a "bad" name.

But "Chews-his-tail" in the german version is "Kaut-am-***" what someone can understand as "Chews-his-thing between his legs" as "***" is a "bad" word for this things between legs in german...

    Logic ftw!

Edit: the forum knows it... but ingame that NPC still exists -.-
    Logic³ ftw

    This forum is terrible!
You cannot mention these things between legs... not even the medical expression... everyone is asexual now -.-
