Dubious Customer Service Email !

@Zenimax
Could I get a verification as to whether an email I received is authentic? Got this regarding a ticket I sent, but just seems like they are asking unusual questions.
(the amount of grammar and spelling mistakes in the full email didn't help much either)

The is a small work around I would like to try with your character.

We will need to authenticate your ownership of your account prior to proceeding. Please send us the answer to your security question together with one of the following:

•Last 4 digits of the credit card number used for a purchase
•Paypal transaction ID used for a purchase
•A Complete Game Time code

It would also be helpful if you could provide us with either the UserID or email address tied to the account.

Once we have these pieces of information, we will be in a position to help you with your issue.

Thanks

Hey there, @Phantax. That is the account verification process that our Support Team uses, but we're more than happy to check out your ticket to make sure. Do you mind posting your ticket number here?

That is all information ZOS has access to. There is no need for them to authenticate it based on an in-game Customer Support Ticket. The absence of a Ticket Number is also fishy.

You guys really need to get the PM service running again, we shouldn't have to put stuff like this in public chat ! ! !

    Thanks Tristan.
You may want to give them a dictionary though, the spelling and grammar does nothing for their professionalism....lol
(now all I have to do is remember my security question...hmm)

All that seems a bit ridiculous to verify an account. I've never had to give that much info for a game before. What's the point of having security questions if you're just going to ask for all of that?

u mean 2 out of 4 things. Banks usually make me give all the information they have on me. account pin, first last name, address etc. and chances are you will only have 1 out of the last 3. last 4 digits of a card used directly on the site, full game time code like the 5 free days or a prepaid time card, not the game code itself, or a paypal transaction. so basically they are asking what is you answer, and how did you pay for the game. They pretty much can see this information already.

aw I wasnt done typing. so you think it's ok to just answer with your security question? so basically the only thing hackers would need is one peice of information (userID or email), and your question which most people will put a reasonable answer, unlike me where I put something ridiculous to make it more secure. I would prefer it like this, since its really for my security

Many games ask for this type of info for verification, but always by phone, never by email. With all the phising emails, and other means of hacking people computers it is simply to big a risk to give this type of info anywhere but phone (my view of course). Try removing an authenticator from WoW, they actually ask for a faxed copy of your passport LOL

prepaid time card, the 5 days they gave us at the end of month one, pretty much the codes that give you playtime, but isn't a subscription. You can see these in your redeemed codes on your account

How many times is people gonna ask this on the forums. This has been asked numerous times and everytime it is the same answer. Yes that is a legit email.

You think that is alot of info they are asking. I'm trying to recover an account in aeriagames. They want 13 questions answered to verify the account.
