So I downloaded today's (May 24) patch and when I click PLAY nothing happens.

Ezmaralda✭✭Hmm thought it was Webroot firewall blocking it since it was listed as untrusted but nope. i ran repair and restarted again. Still no luck. Last time it happened i had to reinstall.

I also run Webroot. And I had the same issue. I did the same as you and the game launched. The strange thing is everything was working fine before today's patch.
