Big TIme Memory Leak?

Try using memboost - google it...

This is a little application that scans the memory each 30 seconds or whatever you set and repairs most of the effect of leaks..

Another MMO I have played does not work without this thing picking up the pieces in the background.

im cranking 2gb of ram usage now and in small areas noticing the frames drop on my 12gb 2000mhz DDR3 dominators, this is top notch ram and struggling with this on my i7? no way can it be my 690, sure SLI doesnt work but one GPU used is more then enough for the game. I honestly just noticed this i took my character to auridon to continue Vet2(started in the DC area) and now its really starting to crank up the ram usage.

Top notch ram doesn't matter at all with these types of problems. I'm curious what you guys are doing to get the game to use so much ram. Last night, I focused on keeping the game running and manage to stay logged in 3 hours straight. I purposely jumped to extra zones, road around extra zones, did some dungeons, cleared some anchors, crafted a bit, jumped around some more. At the end of 3 hours, I finally got the memory usage up to 1.6GB

Maybe there is a particular setting or mod that causes this. I have about 10 or so mods running, and run the graphics on the Ultra preset, except I turn off grass as it makes it harder to spot material nodes. Come to think of it, maybe it's the grass that does it. Guess I'll try again tonight with grass on.

I've been having this since almost day 1 when I entered beta. Months and months of PTS time and reporting it, several threads, and I've never once seen a single response from ZOS on it. Its really disappointing and I'm considering just quitting due to this problem alone, as I'm tired of my PC turning to sludge after 3 or 4 hours of gameplay when I can play anything else and have no trouble.

Console launch is gonna be a disaster if the memory leak issues are not fixed until then. ZOS_BillE, sorry mate, but your advices have oh.nothing to do with data being accumulated in ram. Worse, people following your advice may wonder why half of their tools do not work properly or need a really long start up, after they did the advised "Uncheck "Load Startup Items"" and reboot.

eso.exe hitting 2 GB shouldn't be a problem. I had 3.5 GB after running ESO for about 10h last weekend - and it was still smooth: no stuttering, lags or fps drops.
eso.exe can handle up to 4 GB of memory on Windows x64.
Install more RAM. 4 GB is too low - especially on Windows x64. Also 1 GB of VRAM isn't that much for high detail games.

To just suggest people throw more memory to counteract a programs memory leaks is simply ludicrous.

But it isn't ludicrous to suggest 8GB ram being in a win7 gaming machine. It's pretty much a standard now. 'Memory Leak' or not you should still have 8GB.

As for throwing money at a PC... always worth it. We didn't get to be the gaming master race by running crap machines. Though im beginning to see some similarities between gamers in this forum and some of the idiots I see on Facebook putting their whiny twisted and abusive opinions out there in hope of support.

There is a problem, they are aware and they are working on it. Like everything though, it takes time and if anyone here thinks they could do ot faster they should apply for a job and ZOS.

The main graphic setting which effects memory usage directly is Texture Quality. To give you some idea (on the Mac at least) setting to Medium from High will reduce memory usage by about 1/3 and while it doesn't resolve the issue, it does extend time between crashes. View Distance will also use up more memory.

I am having the same problem too. My system does not go into BSOD, but the game crashes which sets the memory back down to normal and begins its trendy climb up to crash again.

ZOS: You can watch the leak by watching the process eso.exe on a Windows7 PC.

I have not needed to restart my PC, but ending the process in Task Manager will take care of the problem without going thru a reboot. Good thing I have over 12 Gb of RAM.

I don't know what a memory leak is. I haven't had crashes (and have 10 GB of RAM with a quad-core 3.4 ghz um, chipset) ... I updated my video driver because the beta told me to. Win 7.

I think it might be the video driver, and not this but, after a while I start to get these weird planes and lines and stuff on my screen. Relogging usually gets rid of it (this room is very cool and breezy, the computer well-ventilated.) Sometimes lately, the windows on firefox have gone blank, and the whole screen has gone black for a few seconds or two with a message saying the driver failed and recovered (but never when I'm playing ESO, oddly enough).

Is a memory leak like when I stream several videos in a row, and they eventually slow down with the loading because the RAM is all junked up and the computer needs a reboot to wipe its memory?

No, a memory leak is when an application fails to release memory that it no longer needs, and keeps requesting more until it hits the 2GB/3GB/4GB limit (for 32-bit applications, depending on whether a 32-or 64-bit OS and whether or not it is LAA) and crashes. Or, for a 64-bit application, keep taking up more and more memory until the whole system bogs down or crashes.

OK, I know this last patch is trying to address MAC client mem leak, but it seems that now after this patch the PC system mem-leak is worst now!! Anyone else? Usually I can be on for more than 6 hrs, now after 2 dungeon runs my system locks up with bluescreen and all. This is the first time ever playing anything that it has happen to me.

    Anyone else having issues?

Ive had mem usage at over 4gb for the game. I do play on max settings. For me I wouldn't say its a serious, for me at least, issue as I have 16gb of ram.
WHen it does get up high like that though things are a bit more sluggish and I relaunch.
    Here is what I suspect..
Leaving the launcher running. I think its wise if you are going to relaunch the game , go ahead and also quit and relaunch the launcher.
Also the normal things buffering of zones but also buffering chat.

Honestly your os (windows) should manager memory better than it does. Apps, for the most part, shouldn't have to.
But it is what it is.

It's a 32-bit client so it will only ever have access to a maximum of 4GB of RAM and realistically less as there will be game and some computer overheads. When there is a 64-bit client it will then allow addressing more than that (i.e. all the RAM you may have installed though it's not going to use that with large amounts installed)

All I know is, yesterday I was in a group for Wayrest Sewers and my computer didn't just overheat, my power supply capacitor exploded. Due to extensive memory leaks my computer overworked itself and my 500w ultra power supply couldn't handle it. I never had an issue with my computer overheating before this patch. I couldn't even pull the damn thing out after it popped because it was so hot.

I have 8GB of ram. I generally get about 2 hours of play(and move between zones fairly often, plus a fair amount of PVP) before the inevitable sudden crash to desktop. I've crashed more times today than I have in the entire time I've played(early access).

After it crashes I occasionally cannot kill the process. Either it refuses to respond, or if I'm running it as an admin I get an "Access denied" error, despite being on the only admin account on the PC.

That is a bigtime hardware problem. It either means 1) the power supply was faulty to begin with and running at full tilt just made the problem manifest itself sooner, or 2) your power supply didn't put out enough 12v amps to handle all your hardware on max load. Although I think 2 is unlikely, because with a well designed power supply in that situation, it will just shut off rather than fry itself.

The hotfix they pushed tonight seems to have fixed whatever the patch had done. I couldn't say if the leak is completely gone, but it's no longer making the game completely unstable.

Sinds craglorn patch 1.2 i have the memory leak error i have 16GB of Ram, Before that i had no issus. The Computer crashes when it hits 4 GB of Ram. The crazy Part is that i have 26 GB of Virtual Memory and when he reaches that limit yes 26 GB then screen goes Black and i have to restart my Laptop, everything including my Antivirus System. I have tried almost everything and must say it is the ESO.exe!!!
I hope that they fix that problem! After playing about 15 minutes up to 2 hours this problem hits me. I have a Sound now, that warns me when close to 4 GB of RAM then i have to restart my System to make sure that everything is delated out of my Memory.
I tested my System with Ram Test 0 errors. Switched of Nvidia Streaming Client Run SSD Tweaker on my System, Uninstalled Spybot Search and Destroy next step is to double my VRAM to 52 GB Ram then to 104GB to see how long i can play till it hits the max of 4 GB of Ram. When i find a solution i let everyone know including Betasoft/Zenimax.
    Have a nice Day

The client is 32-bit so it has a limit of 4GB RAM (addressable space) hence why it will crash when it gets close to or reaches that limit (usually somewhat lower figure due to overheads etc.)

So that is the reason the game will crash which is a known bug in the Mac client. Generally the PC client avoids the crash even if it does still have some memory issues over longer play also.

It seems that the game crash is causing your system to crash. Perhaps to it trying to generate an crash report? I can;t say but the reason the client crashes will be that most likely.

Over longer play, it can happen within 15 Minutes! I tried to contact Support and sendet more then 30 Crash reports and Support Mails with Screenshots. Tried out everything that is in the Teso Forums or to find at Google like Fullscreen Mode VSync Shadow reduced, switch of Water reflection deactivate Anti Spy and Antivirus extend Virtual Memory and runs Mem Test 0 faults. I am very pacient and still play but my Guild has more members with that problem. They don´t like that i have to close the Client up to 4 times in the Dungons!
Hope they dont break more with the 1.3 Patch.

Since purchasing a brand new high end gaming laptop a few days ago, I've been receiving Windows 8.1 message after playing around an hour that my computer is running low on memory and I should shut down ESO. The game continues to perform fine though, even on default ultra settings, though I only play in about two hour chunks.

Is this warning message due to the memory issue the game is having?
