I jsut went to bleakrock I think its called, up north there is an island with lots of resources around it if you jsut circle the island. Used to be tonnes of bots. Now its just me and like 3 others farming. Feels wierd without the teleporting, flying, under the ground, wierd named, silly pathing, dying to bears bots.

They did say a while ago that things were happening on downtimes, this patch may have brought a bit of a houseclean along with it.

Best way to know of bans is to check your ignore lists, if its substantially smaller than it was you know the ban hammer has been out and about. (in DT they clear out the banned accounts from your ignore list)

seriously, I know they're not going to say alot about what they did. But can people confirm that something was done? If so, Yay to Zos. Keep fighting them.

Hopefully they did something behind-the-scenes techy stuff.. some kind of security hole they plugged or whatever. Basically something they would not want people (especially the people responsible for the botting software) to know about.

They do do things, but then it'll spike back up again as the bot writers figure out how their previous bots were detected, then program to counter the detection.

There is alot of money to be had in goldselling (which in turn is fed by botting, account thefts etc), so yeah.. sadly, they almost always find a way :(

    I bet it's something more prosaic - they're patching as well. =)

The Bots were downloading the Patch but the launcher malfunctioned.
    Maybe they got rolled back?

That would be awesome wouldn't it. I wish, that every time someone bought gold/motifs/whatnot for real money they would get an electric shock on their nuts (or other sensitive parts incase of nut-abscense)

GL with that. Some people want to play the game, but they don't see spending farming time for mats / gold as part of that. They want to run dungeons, charge back and forth in Cyrodiil, and now experience Craglorn.

So they'll happily spend real money on virtual currency and items so that their RL time is maximized to things they enjoy doing when they're not at work or sleeping.

I don't farm but I have lots of gold just from doing quests and selling my junk to vendors when I see one. Really, getting gold in this game is a cakewalk.

Every time the code changes, as we have now in a 5-6 GB patch, the hackers need to change their own codes as well and this take some time.

Wait for more 2 days and lets see how many bots are back, or not... Then we can talk about them.

As a lot of people speculated the BOT situation was helped by the addons. As a lot of the addons are not working due to the new build its safe to say that it seems they were correct.
Which seems like a good case for removal of addons (at very least strong controls over them by zeni)

Electric... shock... to... the... nuts! Oh wait, that's only in my head. But I wish it was true! That would effectively put a stop to <insert-insult-so-horrible-that-it-would-make-an-elderly-person-drop-dead-in-pure-chock> that buy gold.

Actually, no, it does not prove anything. Do we need to discuss these wild speculations, lies and false information.. again?

Every addon I have still worked after the patch, just needed to retick the "load out of date addons" since the patch unticked it.

If addons really are helping the bots then something is very wrong with the API code, however since the API doesnt allow you to fly and zip underground I strongly suspect it has nothing to do with it.

Phantax. Addons and scripting or hacking network code are far different things. If the entire addon API was gone I doubt it would stop the botting much. Bi really don't think they are related. I admit I could be wrong but the addon Apis used in most game just don't have those kinds of command in them unless zos made a serious programming error. And this is coming from a mostly addon hater

With a patch this big ESO might have fixed some of the packet insertion flaws which were allowing the odd movement; and the bot makers might need to figure out how to do it again. We will see.

Still plenty of bots running around Khenarthi's Roost...perhaps they left Bleakrock for sunnier weather.

Still seeing lots of bots in Coldharbour and other places.
They are getting smarter and not running around with names like "ashsajnsjnj" so it gets harder to seperate them from normal multiboxers.
