Character Bug: All Crates/Cabins/Etc. Permanently Empty

Hello,

It seems my character has become... bugged. Yesterday everything still worked fine, but today I can no longer find any lootable item containers in the open world. The only exception appears to be heavy bags and small urns inside delves.

Every single barrel, crate, cabin, dresser, and backpack in the open world (including house interiors part of the main zone) is empty.

I tried several zones, several locations, and everything is empty. Not even relogging solves this issue. This is quite unfortunate as I am trying to collect the motifs.

If anyone else has or had this issue, and knows a way to fix it, please let me know, thanks!

Hehe, it just means that someone has been in that instance before you and looted everything. It happens at times to me aswell:P People loot , its part of the game

Looting all the items he mentioned are personal loot (except chests, whoever gets to those first get the loot inside), so it has nothing to do with whoever else looted them beforehand.

I would send a bug report...maybe that might get you some help Raapnaap. Good luck. ^.^

I have come across a few that don't say "Empty" only to loot and it instantly says "Empty" now without anything actually being inside.

Incorrect, the loot in this kind of 'node' is per player, they're not 'first come' resources.

Alright, after a lengthy bank session (personal and guild bank), they suddenly started to fill up again. The banks took a while to load, so perhaps the issue was/is related to the delay in banking.

If it happens to me again and I cannot resolve it by using banks again, I'll bump this thread. For now I'll just assume it is server related.

I am now having this issue but just on one character. I logged out and played another character for an hour and when I came back, every container in Khenarthi's Roost is still empty.

Do you have autoloot turned on? When I turned autoloot on today everything came up as empty on screen but I noticed loot was going going into my inventory when I checked.

Currently I'm having this issue. It's started for me after I came to Glenumbra from Betnikh via Main Quest travel. Before departing, I checked the ship and everything was empty. Then I checked the Daggerfall and now again, every crate, sack, backpack, cabinet, nightstand and barrel is empty. On the land or inside a building it doesn't matter, everything is empty.

Also, as you know, sacks, crates and barrels have two visual models. One as filled and one is empty. If you take content of a create, it becomes empty on both text message and as visual model. Currently, filled sacks with filled models also writes empty on text side and can't be lootable.

Tried to relog, deleting shadercache, quitting game etc but no luck. If I go back to Stros M'kai or Bethnik tho, crates etc are normal and lootable. So it's happening to me currently only at Daggerfall City, so and I guess at Glenumbra as a whole.

As I heard, mobs are also can't lootable if you have this issue on your character. I didn't test it yet. They may forget (other players who have this issue) AutoLoot option open but if it happens on also mob loots, then we have an urgent problem.

I contacted to support but first, they sent me an answer that not every crate, sack etc should be fiiled. Misunderstood me clearly, but then I explained further and now they investigate this issue.

It's very annoying one.

Levelling provisioning, port into town, lootlootloot, cookcookcook, move to next town.

Hit velyn harbor... everything's empty. Every single crate, sack, barrel.

That's no RNG. No change after multiple logs/game restarts.

Any chance did you turn on auto-loot recently? If you have auto-loot on and open an object it immediately says it is empty.

I'm having this exact problem with one of my alts. I started a Daggerfall Covenant character, and completed the starting islands with no problems. I travel to Glenumbra, enter Daggerfall, and after being there for only a day or so, everything was empty. I can't get any loot in this city whatsoever. Been stuck like this for over a week now. I've tried the usual relogs and restarts (numerous times), double checked that my auto-loot is turned off, but nothing has worked. I'm waiting on a response from support, and I really hope they can help sort this out.

It seems like quite a few players are having this frustrating issue. This can't be just an RNG thing...

Everything's empty before i even try to loot it. They display differently - sacks open, lids off crates, barrels, etc.

Stopped by provisioning levelling dead in it's tracks... though did mean i had a far more constructive bank holiday in the real world than i otherwise might have

Hmm, maybe it'll be back to normal later.

Interesting thing... Everything in AD zones seems to be empty for me, but other alliances still seem to be normally stocked.

You explained it better than I did, that's exactly what's happening to me as well. I've just traveled back to the DC starter islands to see if I could loot anything there - I can open containers and actually receive loot without any problems. Just seems to be Glenumbra that won't let me loot things... I have two characters in EP zones and one in AD and I've not had any looting issues with those (fingers crossed).

*edit* Traveling back and forth between Daggerfall and Stros M'Kai/Betnikh using the wayshrines seems to help. I waited a short while (about 25 mins) before returning to Daggerfall, where a small number of containers could actually be looted

Also noticed veteran level Daggerfall is completely empty every time I go there, except for the ships. Kinda' really sucks.

Have same problem. Sent tickets to Zenimax .... said they will look into issue but do not consider it as priority !! Well if for us it is affecting the fun/gratification aspect of the game - it is priority I would say!

All I can say is sent Tickets to the devs to report this issue .... maybe this will encourage them to resolve and investigate this issue further without delays .... WHICH IS VERY ANNOYING to say the least !

i have this "bug" too. but one strange thing is if i have an active quest inside the building, some containers are filled and ready to loot. like it should be. but as soon as the quest is done and the building is "quest free", all containers are emptied again.. all the time. no matter how often i relog.
happens in vr 1-5 ebonheart and vr 6-10 daggerfall. as an aldmeri, leveling in aldmeri zone, this didnt happen.

just letting you know. patch 1.2 seems to have fixed my problem. most containers are now filled like they should

1.1.2 has improved things 100%, if it says its not empty it actually isnt empty anymore. Quite a few are like this too, about 20% of what I run into shows as looted.

Working as intended new policy is you want motifs go to the chinese restaurant and order a motif 14 with rice.
