So... Can someone explain why Nightblade has the shortest fix/buff list for 1.1?

Templars have the longest nerf list. If you think it's list of changes is anything but overall a massive nerf, think again. Nothing buffed really will have any serious impact, and things nerfed will severely reduce the point of playing a templar.

@iDoseDMT Exactly... Anyone w/ one working eye can see that everyone was buffed, and Nightblade was nerfed.

Just seems absurd to me. I'm literally blown away.

I've been stubbornly having faith in the game since launch because every mmorpg can only be fairly judged on how they move forward imo. How they are moving forward with balancing issues, especially in regards to the Nightblade class and with this latest nerf to Nightblades, is really terrible.

Just can't wrap my head around what kind of logic is behind the priority for nerfing one of the Nightblades most powerful abilities before fixing and balancing our class.

I agree man... I've been telling myself since launch that they will SURELY fix Nightblade. They have to.

    But...

I've almost lost all faith. This is really, really discouraging...

    Nope.
Not a single one of the buffs done will have ANY impact on the class.

    The nerfs will.

    EG:
    Ritual of Rebirth:
Before: Heals self for an additional 30%, after: 60%. Given this is a extremley strong (but very slow) heal, that pretty much means you heal to 100%. Buffing the self heal on this is some kinda joke to try to make it look like we got a buff. It has no real effect.

Same goes with all of the other so called improvements.

Yet they HEAVILY nerfed our battle rez, ONLY dps skills (spear), best defense skill (rune focus, returns less magicka now), Rite of passage (its worded as a buff, but its actually a huge nerf, as they plain REMOVED the damage reduction it grants during channel).

So no, templars got heavily nerfed, its just mots changes are worded in such poor a way that players who dont play the class wont understand.

I've played night blades for about 7.5 months now having been fortunate enough to participate in the P.O. closed beta portion as well as about a month and a half longer then that if you count those silly weekend stress tests. Overall they are a fun class to play. I use a bow/resto staff and typically don't have much of an issue in PvE content unless I'm just feeling bad and doing what I should to make my character effective.

This being said yes there are aspects of the class that are not as well developed or working as desired by the player base. Melee abilities, dual wielding in particular don't seem to have the same kind of synergy with night blade spells as do the ranged weapon sets. I'm not sure for templar but I know both sorcerer and dragon knight both have armor buffs that can greatly reduce the amount of incoming damage while night blade design seems mostly focused on replacing lost health points via the siphoning tree. At least so far as what would be it's equivalency would be as compared to the other classes. This is an approach that is very difficult to balance out as armor buffs tend to stack with gear while the siphoning tree is scaled on what?

For a ranged night blade this approach makes sense as we tend to only get hit by ranged attackers we've not already taken out or cc'd. Melee however especially d.w. and two handed are going to have a much harder time naturally as they are far more prone to taking damage from both melee and ranged attackers. So as I see it, it becomes a balance issue of how does ZoS provide enough healing to the melee night blades without making our class heals so powerful that ranged night blades become essentially immortal?

It will be very interesting to see what Zenimax comes up with for their future patches concerning night blades.
For all the millions of pages of codified law we have enacted in this nation alone, all of it, every word, sentence, paragraph and nuance, is steeped in the singular idea of this:

    "Be good to one another."

So, while waiting for a bit of a NB adjustment, I have started taking it a lot slower.

NB gotta make up the fun on our own since we get no Zeni love. :)

Lower the credit you deserve by being complete uncaring to other classes if you want.

The fact remains, you don't understand the templar class thus don't understand the changes.

I'm not here pretending to act like Nightblades dont need buffs, they do. All non-dk classes do.

Just replying to your poorly worded title.

If you wanted this to be a PURELY nightblade topic, you should of named your topic better. Its plain wrong as it is.

    Fact is:
-Nightblades got one small nerf, bunch of minor fixes.
-DKs got a couple small nerfs, bunch of buffs.
-Sorcerers got mostly only bug fixes.
-Templars got no real buffs, heavy nerfs, and minor fixes no one cares about.

    Threat title is wrong.

I am was a hardcore advocate of the NB ever since beta and is the highest level character I have. I too now have dropped the class. It is a joke compared to the other 3 classes.

This game only has 4 classes and only new players play NB and the majority of players drop this class out of frustration in Vet Ranks. This is a game breaking issue.

Now I imagine we will have to wait weeks for changes. By that time the NB will be all but dead in this game. The issue with NB goes far beyond simple damage and passive fixes. The entire class lacks serious synergy ... with pretty much anything. The powers seem like a bunch of random ideas thrown together. Very little time researching other class skills, their morphs and passives quickly reveals the vastly improved synergy of abilities over NB. Looking at DK powers makes the NB appear to be an afterthought and a class not even tested in beta.

I am afraid I cannot hide my frustration with the history of the rogue style class in mmos. They are the Pariah of the mmo industry and most developers have no clue how to design this class and then forgets or puts little priority in fixing them. To hell with this class the and extreme amount of time I have wasted on this concept within the mmo landscape.

Hire me at half the salary your so called class developers make and I will design the greatest rogue class the world has ever seen. 16 years of mmo experience, 35 years of rpg experience cannot possibly fail as hard as mmo developers have at creating this concept. I have refused to complain about this up until now but I am utterly sickened by this and the amount of my time wasted on this sort of class in mmos.

Hell, just look at this forum. There's a thread here where it shows a Nightblade solo-clearing VR Spindleclutch. Yet you think that we're somehow gimped?

And Usain Bolt can run a 9.58 in the 100 meters. I guess I can rest my case and head off to the Olympics.

Indeed! Every video on youtube is 100% real, not fake, not set up, and is completely legitimate. If it's on the net, it must be true!

I'm not for or against anything. I play each class equally. I'm just putting it out there. How one values the strength of the Buffs/Nerfs/Fixes to the class you play is entirely up to you. I personally have had Zero issues with any of the classes.

To me it reads more like:
    DK = 4 Buffs, 3 Fixes, 1 Nerfs, 1 Balance
Talons doesn't look like a nerf to me. It now damages much more targets, synergy is more reliable. It was always a very short range CC anyways, so a slight amount less won't have any real effect in pve, and only a minor one in pvp.
    NB = 1 Buff, 4 Fixes, 1 Nerf
SC = 2 Buffs, 2 Fixes, 0 Nerfs ? (Maybe, I think I'd need to play this class more to be sure, the buffs may not really have any impact)
    Templar:
My main atm (Have put a lot of hours into DK too, but VR10 on this so Ill go thru each one):

    Aurora:
Minor fix, the skill is garbage either way though.
    Blinding Light;
Wrong patch note. Was fixed in a previous update.
    Channeled Focus:
Nerf. Restores a lot less magicka now.
    Cleansing Ritual.
Nerf/Fix: The cleanse let you heal anytime you want before, but blocked other synergies and the ability to rez due to sloppy synergy coding. A real fix would be letting you select which synergy. But overal its a desireable change as the synergy block hurt us more then not being able to activate it earlier, so I'd list it only as a fix.
    Master Ritualist:
Massive nerf. ZO agrees since they are refuding the skill they think it got nerfed so bad.
    Prism:
Minor fix. Irrelevant as Dawns Wrath abilities are almost exclusively garbage/still bugged.
    Radiant Ward:
    Minor fix. Garbage skill.
    Rite of Passage:
Nerf. They plain lie in the patch note. They actually removed the damage reduction on its channel portion. The healing increase is irrelevant, as this is the strongest heal in the game (as an ultimate it should be), so it heals everyone to full already.
    Ritual of Rebirth:
Buff, but as I explained above, has no real impact.
    Spear Shards:
Minor visual fix. No one cared.

    Totally:
    Fixes:
    4:
    Fixes that matter:
    None

    Nerfs:
    3

    Stealth nerfs:
    Several more.

    Buffs:
    1. None that anyone cares about.

I am a VR2 NB I can can compete and win 1v1 against any class regarless of if they are VR10 along as i open with sneak attack but that is also my design and build. I can even win without sneak attack but i am at a big disadvantage.

My only complaint is sorcs being able to bolt escape away at 10% life

DKs are very tough, but if i block key attacks like shield charge and shield bash i can win. if they drop dragon standard just move away and use ranged attacks and block their pull if they use it. I actually win 3out 4 1v1s against DKs higher vet rank than me.

Now lets look at the changes with this patch

Death Stroke: I only use it during a fight when the target has more life than me so it knocks them down for 4 seconds and I always come back and win. SO the change for sneak attack does not effect me.

DW got slight damage inscrease. My flurry will now do more damage.

Hundingtons rage set got a big melee weapon damage increse from 5% to 18%, My flurry does alot more damage. (my vielled strike morph lowers target armor by 40% so flurry does ALOT of damage)

Dead players cannot detect me now, so i can sneak right after a kill. This is awsome!

Dragon Knights: they may have gotten more skills buffed than nerfed but the nerfed skills are the big key skills in my 1v1 with them like talons range. Overall DKs wont be quite as strong against me now.

This patch greatly helped my NB, and with the NB being buffed and worked on right now for the next patch i should be very strong, hopefully NBs dont become FOTM
