Game locking up and causing computer to become unresponsive

I was really happy about the Crossfire support, but now the game tends to be locking up a lot and causing the computer to become unresponsive. No ALT CTRL DEL.. just have to reset.

Been playing with Crossfire disabled (Fullscreen Windowed) and not experiencing any lockups...

I'm having a problem in Craglorn with this. When I exit a dungeon and return to the normal zone, eso.exe starts using way more RAM then it should be. I can confortably run ESO usually, but this new glitch causes the game to use all my available RAM, causing 5.99/6 GB. The game causes my pc to lockup because of this, and I end up having to manually try to stop the ESO program.

This has been happening to me a lot today, and I don't have a Crossfire setup.

No such animal on my system either. However, you are not alone in the lockups and comp freeze.

No Crossfire here, but the game is using more memory than it should and windows keeps shutting it down after today's patch. No problems with memory until today.

Also running full-screen windowed. Game has crashed and hard-locked my machine five times now requiring a power cycle. Just crossing my fingers and praying each time it doesn't corrupt something. Not good.

    Had 0 problems before patch.

There's a memory leak in new patch. Open up task manager and just sit at the login screen - it already leaks ram before you get to login. This causes the PC to become unstable.

yea, something is going on with it's memory usage. I decided to look at it's performance and when I finally got my Task Manager open I discovered it was using all but 1 single MB of my memory.

Okay so correlation does not equal causation :) after turning off crossfire I'm still locking up as well. Jumped to a conclusion I guessed. Looks like a memory leak as looking at task manager shows 99% used when lockup happens

yes, ZOS has come in the thread about VR content not being intentional, but have not heard anything yet about any of the other myriad of problems.
So hopefully we will hear about this issue to?

I've been suffering memory related lock ups all day, however I just managed to play and keep my usage at around 65% by trimming every process I didn't need including shutting the launcher and shutting the 'awesonium' process off too. I managed over an hour double what had been possible earlier today but unfortunately had RL issues which meant I had to log out. I am now going to log back in and see how long I can play for........ :D

Yeah this game has an embarrassingly bad memory leak. Not sure how you drop a deuce like that and go home for the weekend. Its not a little memory leak its HUGE....no way they should have missed this. Maybe they should not patch on Fridays if they can't fix it the next day.

    Try this http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cleanmem.htm

Cleanmen should purge RAM hopefulyl keep it from getting bogged down. The memory leak will cripple your system. So its best to stop the game every 30 minutes let your computer rummage through the RAM and clear it out, so you can avoid a complete lockup of your system.

Cleanmem might fix the problem I am testing now. The more RAM you have the longer you can go without a lockup. If you have 4 gigs of ram I would imagine you are screwed. I have 6 gigs, takes around 30-40 mins and I am at system lockup just about.

Has happened to me twice tonight so far. I'm on a single graphics card so it's not due to dual card setups. Before the patch I think I crashed once since launch. The crashes tonight have been serious. Total lockups and having to turn the PC off and reboot. Not a great solution really. The last time my toon was doing nothing it was while she was sitting in the bank while I made a cup of tea.

It's not temperature related, I'm sure it's down to a huge memory leak somewhere.

The technical and customer support in this game is awful. Really, really bad.

I don't think I'll be playing until they patch the patch because hard crashes like these are going to seriously mess something up, sometime.

No crossfire. Some crashes but worst so far was two like you describe where whole system freezes up and have to reboot the computer, run chkdsk, and other fun that I worry could destroy my computer. I'm at a point where I may have to take a break from my usual daily play until the memory leak is fixed :disappointed:

Just saw a ZOS update stating they're working on a fix so this is good news! I hope it resolves all the memory issues.
