Finished Patch Download - Computer Shuts Off

Ahoy there,

I opened the launcher and the patch began to download. I was reading the patch notes while this was going on, and had the progress bar showing to the side of my browser. Upon reaching the end of the download, my computer literally turned itself off. After rebooting, I did nothing but reopen the launcher. The progress bar for the patch jumped back to the end like it recognized that everything was downloaded, and the computer shut itself down a second time. I'm about to reopen the launcher; will edit post if it shuts off again.

Warm regards,
Aticain

His hdd cant be broken. I'm pretty sure he'd get a system error on that. Space I'm not sure on.

yep, but depending on the disk techno you can have a bsod, if the hdd goes offline and it's the system disk, can happen on faulty ssd, he should look in the envent viewer/system log if there is red messages

I am having a problem since patch of Launcher finishing patch, I push Play and game crashes. Computer stays on though. Did same thing a couple of times, including running as Admin. Not sure of problem so uninstalled program, re-downloaded launcher and now waiting for process to complete. Download seems to be at slow rate, not a surprise with the numbers of us.

Could have been server side for you bruce.

unfortunately uninstalling the program won't clear your setting in your document folder, if there is an issue with your config (they did change a few thing for the video card).
you could try to rename/delete the 'Elder Scrolls Online' in your documents folder if the problem persist, (it will wipe out your settings, addons, screenshot etc... but they can be copied back if you rename)

Well, it didn't shut down this time around. It basically redownloaded the entire patch and applied it. It froze up the machine for about a minute at one point, but continued on afterward without crashing. The launcher is now downloading and checking a bunch of files...rather repeatedly. Not sure what it's doing to be honest.

My event log didn't show anything other than the improper shutdown errors. I'm running ESO on an SSD that houses the OS.

it's verifying integrity of the file since the crash probably interrupted the update process

well, the patch is big and A LOT of data are being moved around with this one, I won't go into 'how to setup a ssd correctly on a computer' but there is a lot of stuff you can tweak at a lot of level from bios to os, firmware to check etc...
Highly intensive random activity on a SSD can cause issues, but it's dependant on so many variables you will need to google a lot

This is happening to my playing partner, too. Finished download and starts the launcher - then his computer shuts down. It's not the computer: it runs everything else Just Fine, without issue, but ESO shuts it down.

    Something is wrong.

No computer shutdown, but ESO crashes every time I click PLAY on the launcher. So I was made to buy a game time card because of the insane billing issue and now cannot play at all. Even disabled and unplugged the secondary monitor since now its useless unless I want to play in gimped "windowed fullscreen" mode.

Everything appears to be fine now. I will attribute this to an SSD error and go on my merry way.

    Thanks for the help, all,

After re downloading game, everything working well. Customer Support did contact me with a suggestion for my problem of not getting in, but it wasn't for the Computer Shut Down problem, but cool that that problem is past now for you also, Aticain. :)

I am curious if any others with problems are using SLI graphics configurations that were addressed in this patch, perhaps there is some commonality.
