Honestly, if it doesn't give loot, skill points, gold or some other tangible reward, many players would never even touch it. They must be rewarded for what they do, else it's a waste of their time.

Okay, so some players would not touch it. Nobody is forcing them to. :)

    However others would love it.
    I'm a roleplayer.

    Okay. :)
Obviously, there is no reward for roleplay besides my own pleasure (too bad there aren't any DM's to give me extra XP).

    Okay....
I play games like this because I enjoy them.

    Weird.

Most people play games because they hate them. :D

I might have missed your point. :)

    I was agreeing with you.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

So you're saying they should implement something into the game that gives absolutely no positive feedback/reward for engaging in it?

No positive feedback? Ever heard of fun? :)

No reward? No ingame reward, no. Just the fun of the battle.

I'm for dueling as well. Go figure.

Honestly, if it doesn't give loot, skill points, gold or some other tangible reward, many players would never even touch it. They must be rewarded for what they do, else it's a waste of their time.

Exactly my point. If it has no benefits, not many would want to do it.

I think that Kvatch would make a perfect zone for arena PvP (and other things). Made a thread about it here: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/99465/kvatch-arena-future-zone#latest

If not, a dueling option would be nice to challenge/practice with friends.

I would like Elder Scrolls Online, a series in the Elder Scrolls universe that also includes titles such as 'The Elder Scrolls: Arena' and even fully fleshed out gladiatorial arena's in 'The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion', as well as arena's within the game itself in regions like Eastmarch ...

Yeah, I would like them to include arena's. That's not rude to ask, is it?

    Go play wow.

    Not rude.

    Okay.

Saying it like "Go play WoW". Sure that sounds rude and demanding but I said it like

"Any chance I can convince you to go play WoW where it has this small scale PvP?"

Doesn't really sound rude but if you think that sounds rude then I apologize to you but I read it over and over and I'm just not getting anything rude out of it.

It was a suggestion to play a game that has this small scale PvP you want. I don't know what else to tell you but I won't be coming back to this thread anymore to repeat myself over and over again that my post wasn't meant to be rude, again, it was a suggestion.

I prefer the way Zenimax made their PvP in this game, it's perfectly fine how it is, there is large and small scale PvP if you look for it. Not everybody in Cyrodiil stays in one large pack.

Most of you are blowing this way out of proportion. I'm not asking them to delete content ffs I'm asking them to add arena pvp into the game. It isn't mandatory, it won't make you stronger in AvA and it won't do anything to boost your character. It is simply an alternative pvp style for those that don't like AvA that much.

What is the problem with this? If you don't like arena then don't bloody play it... I don't like being a tank, so I am dps, I don't like reading lore books, so I don't do it... nobody is forcing anyone to do the arena so whether or not YOU don't like arena is besides the point, there are many that do.

And for all the people moaning about how "unbalanced" arena pvp would be, did it ever occur to you that Zenimax could put restrictions on it?

1v1 = any class vs any class. You don't know your apponent before entering.
    2v2 = same as above.
4v4 = only one of each class. (templar, dragonknight, nightblade, sorcerer)

Then how can it be so incredibly unbalanced and omfg nerf blah blah or any such thing?

If a 4v4 group loses against another 4v4 group then they got out skilled... Very simple soultions here guys I don't know why you turn it into such a complex problem.

I'll address this to move the conversation forward: you are correct.

I love Cyrodiil, and it's large and small scale efforts. Cyrodiil IS perfectly fine, in my opinion. I really don't want it changed (maybe a few portal spells to get back with your group faster, but that's about it).

But there is something very much enjoyable about quick combat. I don't always have two hours to play, riding my horse across the battlefields looking for opponents. I don't particularly want to play in any other world, either, and Elder Scrolls is more my home than any other game franchise out there (outside of Star Wars Galaxies and EvE online, one no longer existing and the other requiring even more play time than ESO).

No, I'm talking about short matches against player or NPC opponents that allow me to put a 12 minute fight and move on. Neverwinter did this, but ONLY this (loved Gauntlegrym more), and it was too monotonous. Zenimax, if they approach this carefully, can really make something of it. Something akin to what many of us enjoy with first-person shooters and whatnot. Drop-in, drop-out combat.

I don't support ZOS avoiding the issue completely. I do understand pushing players to other games just because that game MAY have a feature they like (I like ZOS's stand on no auction house, but many players disagree with me). But to me, its' the Elder Scrolls package that is worth it, and I feel that Arena's will just make the whole package a little bit better overall.

Sure, it's not an easy win like player housing or new NPC guilds. It would require much more time and refinement. But that don't mean it can't or shouldn't happen.

PVP WILL NOT BE CHANGED. CYRODIIL WILL REMAIN THE SAME. IF YOU LOVE CYRODIIL THEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT BECAUSE IT WON'T BE CHANGED.

Seriously. Do you people even read what I write? I'm not asking for ANYTHING to be changed, I'm asking for something totally seperate to cyrodiil to be added. Do you know the difference?

You have to understand that because you are using the word "arena" it is making all the WoW expats feel nervous. If you had said battlegrounds or spvp, or small scale objective based pvp, or something like that you would not get such a negative reaction.

I know it's just ***. they're hating on something which doesn't affect them in any way. It would be totally different if I were asking for cyrodiil to be replace with arenas or something... I'm just asking for Zenimax to create arenas (TOTALLY SEPERATE FROM CYRODIIL) into the game for those of us who want it.

If you don't want it, then don't play it. Simple as that.

    I would disagree.

Player populations could suffer in Cyrodiil if small scale, controlled PvP encounters gain more popularity than larger fights that feel more focused on army size and AOE's than player skill.

Gameplay itself would be affected, as the game would have to be altered to support each class equally in smaller scale warfare, whereas in Cyrodiil, the common answer to unbalance is 'bring more DKs'.

Just two quick things that *could* affect Cyrodiil players.

It is childish to fight against something that would not hurt your game, yet you fight to keep others from having it.

However, you guys just bash him, give no reason why it would hurt the game, so I came to his defense.
