What happens with reported cheaters and bots?

Hi,

I am very curious to know what actually happens after you report someone.

Atm I am really angry, I spend a lot of time reporting bots, spam, speed hacks. I accept the fact that I do not get an answer what actually happened to these accounts and I really don't care as long as those accounts cannot continue to interfere with my playstyle.

I have reported a farm bot using a speed hack which was really difficult to get a screenshot of because he hops through the map with incredible speed. Now, 7 hours later the same farm bots still hops through the map from harvesting node to harvesting node.

They get a lot of reports and are hours behind on these. It can often take days it seems before they get to a bot. I've seen one around (wrote their name down) and they were in the same spot for a few days. Haven't seen that specific name lately.

The issue is that they have more accounts than Zeni can ban with that system. It gets rid of some but there's still A TON around. It's like one banned, 3 more show up.

they really cant tell us what they are doing, cuz it would be the same as telling the botters what they are doing. It's a sneaky business and if botters know what is being done then they know how to get around it

You may not want to hear the answer. I blocked and reported a particular zone gold spammer at one point some weeks ago, and then also received an in-game mail advertising RMT services/transactions from the same person. How did I know this? I went to add the person to my "blocked" list and the person was already there.

Some time later, I needed to clear out my block list somewhat frequently because of the "limit" imposed by ZOS (the chucklehead who came up with this limit needs to be sent to proverbial Siberia to shovel **** with his/her hands), figuring that the people I reported would "likely" have been banned.

Fast forward to yesterday. I received another in-game mail spam for RMT services (disguised as the "Item Purchased" guild store transaction) from the same account that I'd thought to be banned. I reported again, and specifically inquired as to why this account is still around.

They get investigated and may or may not get banned at some point in the future, at Zenimax discretion. My experience is you're looking at around a week.

My take - don't play the game as a cop. You aren't paying to do Zenimax's job for them. Let them deal with the bots.

Let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll...
Everything I say is just my opinion. Like it or not - that's all it is.

Well, of course, you are right. I shouldn't do that. And I really tried to play the game without caring about bots and all that stuff.

But when it happens 3 times in a row just a moment before you are close enough to a harvesting node a bot appears out of nothing, grabs the node and disappears again you are getting frustrated.

This is also the reason I am browsing through the forums instead of actually playing the game.

Apparently not a lot happens to them. And if they are banned, they can even get unbanned pretty easily, if this is true.

Been running some searches on exploits, and digging a bit further, out of curiosity. I wanted to know if people are being overdramatic and a cure might be at the horizon. Turns out, the situation is far worse than I thought. Some people seem to receive more reports about possibly exploitable bugs than they can possibly manage to write actual exploits for. Some suggest that ESO is almost certainly the most easily exploitable MMO in over 10 years. Shocking, saddening and sickening.

I wonder if ZOS has people monitoring certain places on the webs. Would be an obvioius thing to do in order to get to grips with what's coming their way.

    They should have them.

The bot developers update their software very often to stealth from antihack system like blizzs warden, as they do with memoey injectors, and the solely option for the company to keep on par with the stealthing updates is to become another customer.

Im sure ZMO wont bankrupt if they need to.
