Remove any and all class mastery restrictions in PvP for Templar, Arcanist, Nightblade & Necro

These classes are underperforming and it would be nice if we weren't nerfed in PvP even more on top of it. Sorc and DK are the two demigods ruling all of PvP and they don't have any class mastery restrictions as far as I am aware.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad we are balancing things through battle spirit, but I just think the lower garbage classes could use not having handcuffs on their CMs on top of DK and Sorc being so far above everyone else that they're not even head and shoulders above, they are having a anime showdown in the clouds while the rest of us are treading water with these ankle weights attached to us

Here is the list of restricted CMs in pvp

Templar

Judgment’s Brand
Effect: When rank 2 of Burning Light deals damage, your Templar abilities gain 1400 damage done for 3.1 seconds. This bonus is halved against players.

Removing this restriction would help a lot with templars and their damage now that they are losing minor brutality

Arcanist

Unbound Potential
Effect: Upgrades rank 2 of Fated Fortune to also increase your damage done by 30%, halving against players, for the duration.

Arcanist is probably the bottom of the barrel class. Throw them a bone

Nightblade

An Eye For Exploitation
Effect: Increases your Weapon and Spell Damage by up to 2000, based on your target’s missing Health. Reduces your damage taken by up to 20%, based on your attacker’s missing Health.
Both effects are halved against targets with Battle Spirit.

Above and Beyond
Effect: Increases your Critical Damage and Healing by 25%. This effect is reduced to 5% against targets with Battle Spirit.
Increases your maximum Critical Damage and Healing by 30%.

Cutthroat’s Focus
Effect: Activating a Nightblade ability while bracing causes you to dodge attacks for 0.3 seconds.
Whenever you dodge an attack, your attacker’s psyche suffers, increasing their damage taken by 5% for 5 seconds, increasing to 20 seconds against monsters.

So many posts have already been made about NB and their class masteries....

Necromancer

Cycle Unending
Effect: Upgrades rank 2 of Reusable Parts to grant Cycle Unending for 25 seconds, increasing the potency of your damage done by 1% for every 1% Health you have more than your target. The damage bonus caps at 25%, or 10% against players.

I hardly see any necros. They need the rework most of all out of any class in this game.

Final Word

I mean its not fair the best two classes get the full effect out of their class masteries and the rest of us peons have to have 50% - 80% nerfs attached to us

Wise words fallen on deaf ears bro and gta 6 and gw3 will kill what’s left of the PvP community if the players are not happy with the state of the game

I’m really split on Judgements Brand. I really feel like it would be too much at max value. Also Above and Beyond does nothing to solve any of nighblades problems and just makes the even better at killing bad players which they don’t need.

Templar is trash, let them be good. Look at dk and sorc! why do we have to agonize over buffs to the garbage classes while dk and sorc exist??

Same thing with nb, and I assure you, 20% extra crit damage would help NBs kill good players. It would just eat through rallying cry and make them actually good at what they are supposed to do at all levels. As it stands Above and beyond is being dropped for nocturnals inspiritation cause it gives about 1.0 more ult per tick which helps with balorgh which is just pathetic

how is 100k dps on the most easy rotation known to many without weaving knowledge or light attacking classed anywhere near to a trash class, comparing it against 160 dps that is not needed anywhere around the board or in to balance pvp is not a good enough argument to describle such an enjoyable class as trash. i dont tank with templar but as damage and healing they are really good and mostly alot of fun to play when your not chasing the meta
if people were not understanding when grouped with (some, and sometimes) others chasing the meta, some groups would be so unenjoyable that even more people would stop logging in than already have and that alot of eso's population, but most importantly alot of peoples friends they have met onling while playing eso for years, even back in the day when strangers were friendly and showing us the ropes in vet dungeons while doing 20k dps a person talked trash about dops then they went in the block list (forever) ask me and i would say the introduction of single player copies or 4 person content says it all about what happened in random finder, play your own way ? right ! believe it when i see it
i am not skilled but skilled templars do insane damage in pve

Templar is definitely not garbage and flat damage modifiers are the strongest modifiers in the game. If a Templar built completely around judgements brand and it did 1600 flat increased damage on every tick of damage even with it being just class skills it could hit some very serious numbers combined with a very good defensive kit I’m sure it could get out of hand.

As for Nightblade you could give them 1000% crit damage modifier I’m still not getting hit by spectral bow with the travel time it is now.

yes of which effects pve, and not in a good way, so defending our templars here may make others thing when asking for silly things again in the future, when a remedy for all the latest debacles have been seen, as for pvp (bg) i got no problem with my pure class templar right now, either of them.
or did you mean this is for pvp cyro and ic ? (the land of the lost)
although not myself i have seen on many occasions pvpers join pve groups and be asked to leave...would not do that myself though

I don't even really use spec bow anymore on nb I have to use onslaught and gorethief to kill people in an actual combo. Sure I would like NB rework but at least I could have my class mastery in the mean time till they do it in 2031

Judgements Brand does not give weapon damage it gives flat damage applied to its class skills. DK, WW, and Sorc got nerfed this cycle.

I still don't think it really will move the needle that much. Plar already is pretty much required to run Devout, so then you're giving up 600 weapon damage for a "buffed" Judgement. Outside of Radiant, Templar skills aren't really making anyone worried about anything anyways.

As for Nightblade you could give them 1000% crit damage modifier I’m still not getting hit by spectral bow with the travel time it is now.

also, as if we are really worried about things getting out of hand when things like dk and sorc are running around here nuking everything. You really think 700 wpn damage is gonna make templar anywhere near as game breaking as dk or sorc is currently??

Judgements Brand does not give weapon damage it gives flat damage applied to its class skills. DK, WW, and Sorc got nerfed this cycle.

I still don't think it really will move the needle that much. Plar already is pretty much required to run Devout, so then you're giving up 600 weapon damage for a "buffed" Judgement. Outside of Radiant, Templar skills aren't really making anyone worried about anything anyways.

If judgement brand went live with 1600 damage I would play plar with Retribution Ritual, Jabs, Crescent, Vampires Bane, Solar Barrage, and the Dueling Bubble and each ticking for at minimum 1600 each. 1600%6=9,600 flat damage a second minus a little bit for some of those being a two second tick rate but factoring burning light sounds a little bit too crazy even for a burst window with the ult and bubble.

I'm not even going to lie to you in that this is the opposite end of the spectrum and there would still be egregious disparity between certain classes based on their masteries.

Could you imagine NB with 2,000 scaling wep/spell damage AND 25% crit damage and healing? This wouldn't benefit a brawler blade nearly as much as your 'run of the mill' ganker; you'd just be nearly 1-shot/2-shot from stealth by any NB with Hunding's Rage or greater for gear. Templar's massive flat damage would just encourage building tankiness to allow the flat damage and easy-to-access damage buffs carry the damage to levels where no trade was possible.

Or Necro or Arcanist's - 20% increased damage and 30% increased damage respectively.

    Yeah, no.

This is why we should be balancing with a chisel; a 'thought experiment' like this goes to show that sweeping, thoughtless number changes create more problems than they solve.

I dunno that the nb masteries need to be fully un-nerfed in pvp. Certainly not above and beyond because that just creates degenerate gameplay where a new or pve player gets hit for 30k out of invis, dies instantly while screaming 'wtf', and never wants to pvp again.

I tend to think Eye for Exploitation's range should be tweaked and given a non-zero minimum value, eg 300-1000 bonus s/wd rather than 0-1000 in pvp, so it always provides some benefit, even if its still a lower peak value than the warden gets for casting ele sus.

As much as the class masteries for NB could use improvement for PvP, the main issue still lies in how the skills in the toolkit fails to synergies. NB´s problem is that you can´t reliably land your burst combo on anyone competent (key word being competent here, pug stomping has zero value in balance discussions and so has low mmr BG´s farming PvE players). The cast time on incap and minimum travel time on bow (on top of having the loudest sound queue in the game as an extra telegraph) makes it so you´re not reliably landing those skills in combination with each other (unless the player you´re fighting has the reaction time of a senile person). On top of that, the entire burst toolkit of NB is hard countered by simply holding block. Fear is not a reliably anti-block tool because again, it doesn´t allow you to reliably land any follow up skill before the opponent has broken free and either dodged or started holding block. You could say that off-balance --> medium weave --> bow proc is a guaranteed way to land the bow, which is true if it again wasn´t for the fact that the entire combo/build up there is also hard countered by blocking at the right time.

What the right solution is for this problem I´m honestly not sure about, but not being able to reliably land the burst combos your entire class is designed around can´t be counter balanced by just handing out stats. You could have the best stat sheet the game has ever seen, but if your skills can´t land reliably then it´s just a waste.

Unless damage add ignores all forms of mitigation (it genuinely may and I just don't know), I don't think you get even half of that against decently put together pvp builds. Also comes at the expense of your best hot, needing vamp bane to not be the jankiest skill ever to land in GH, and enemies not just walking out of range of barrage and jabs with Templar being basically a boulder. Even if by some miracle everything hits and people don't just walk away from you, you might do as much damage as a DK without corrosive or balorgh active.

    It doesn't ignore anything, actually.
It still has to go thru all the mitigation the enemy player has.

In the first place - why on earth buff 4 underperforming classes, when you can nerf 2 overperforming classes?

Why not just half conservation of energy in PvP?

Why not just half core of flame in PvP?

Sustain is core pillar of the game. Why overcomplicate?

I agree. But every post I make on that hordes of whiners complain about the nerfs to the point where Zos is barely nerfing either sorc or dk in the PTS. So I thought why not ask for these restrictions to be removed to help the lower classes compete

How can you go and advocate for WW generally staying like it is on live and then poo poo this idea to buff up the other classes instead of nerfing your stuff?

I feel like I can't win, whether I propose nerfs to the top classes, or buffs to the lower classes, everyone just genuinely wants DK WW and Sorc to be the meta forever with nothing to challenge it or be anywhere near as good as them.

Sorc doesn't get CM restrictions in PvP, DK doesn't get CM restrictions in PvP, why should NB or any of these other classes? Necro's main problem is a lack of damage, Templar lacks damage, NB has the most predictable combos and therefore has to rely on things like onslaught and gorethief instead of class combos. DK does more damage than NB anyway and sorc does the same amount if not more except at range and with an unblockable undodgeable stun. As it stands people are not even using above and beyond and slotting nocturnals inspiriation for the extra ult to dump into balorgh which is pathetic. The eye for explotation CM is a PvE CM and doesn't even do anything in PvP 90% of the time.

We already have that with pulse ganking. And with how much crit resist people run this will just make crit builds on nb good rather than having DK be the best class to have a crit build on. I think DK is demolishing the new and pve players far more than nb. Or ww, or sorc

Really, any class can gank a new or pve player from stealth.

We shouldn't be balancing classes around shifting goal posts. How does a NB do vs experienced players? That should be your only yard stick and not what will stomp noobs the fastest Why is it sorc, DK, and templar or WW are balanced in the community's eye around things like duels between eachother, and then NB is balanced around whats fair for a PvEer?

@Wuuffyy has acknowledged that Werewolf is overperforming on multiple occasions.

Pushing back on an idea to full send ESO further into a broken state, isn’t part of some grand scheme to keep everyone else out of the fun.

I’m of the mind that we shouldn’t have Class Mastery at all in PvP. Why should a ‘pure’ Templar be stronger than a Templar using Living Death instead of Restoring Light?

These Class Reworks were designed to diversify skill lines into multiple roles, which will fix balance altogether, these Mastery passives are a step too far, and in the wrong direction entirely, especially when considering that Dragonknight has access to them.

I am getting sick and tired of these forums.

If class masteries should be removed, so should subclassing

Also, removing these restrictions really would not do as much as you or him is acting like it would.

There would be more people playing NB, Templar, Arc, and Necro, but DK would still be on top. Sorc might actually have competition for once. The NB class masteries do far less than you guys think
