Sorcerer Class Flourish (Damage Portion) Should Count as a Sorcerer Ability

The game internally distinguishes class abilities from other sources of damage and healing. That category is no longer limited exclusively to active skills cast from a class skill line.

Several class-set effects have recently been updated to count as class abilities belonging to their respective classes. Examples include Corpseburster, Aetheric Lancer, and Monolith of Storms. This allows their damage to interact consistently with mechanics that specifically reference class abilities.

I would like the Sorcerer effect from Class Flourish to receive the same internal classification.

The Sorcerer flourish enchants the closest pet to heal an ally whenever that pet deals damage or, without a pet, deals Shock Damage around the first target. Despite being explicitly class-specific in both theme and function, its resulting damage is not currently treated as originating from a Sorcerer class ability.

Classifying the flourish this way would make the underlying rules more consistent: if non-active effects created specifically for one class can count as that class’s abilities, the class-specific effects of Class Flourish should be eligible for the same treatment.

Yes, make Sorc even more special and bring back Static Reverbation even though it just got nerfed.

it got nerfed in the sense that you cant just run dot sorc or ww and proc it constantly passively. the way it is now they quadrupled the proc chance but limited it to sorc abilities. Sorc flourish is a single instance of direct damage that can only be applied tone cast per activation scribing skills. In terms of proc frequency the chance is no better than hard casting frags or mages fury.

Nah. Sorc is perfectly fine without adding more power to its already overperforming kit. Classifying Scrying skills as class skills has the potential for opening up unintended consequences in a game that’s already jam packed with interactions that present broken mechanics.

But it wouldnt be the scribed skill it would just be the flourish

I'm not sure if this is a good idea. It forces Sorc to almost exclusively use Class Flourish as a spam for Reverbation. More accurately, it would be Wield Soul/Traveling Knife + Class Flourish. But we all know the Soul Magic line's passive abilities are terrible, and Traveling Knife only works for Dual Wields. Sorc has been ridiculed for years for not being a traditional magic-based class but more like an assassin, because mainstream meta almost never use staves.

Class refresh should have solved most of the problems, but this damn layoffs have almost ruined everything.

Class flourishes come from Scribing. And the Sorc flourish already hits as hard as any spammable without adding further class buffs to it.

Sorc flourish is a DoT ticks worth of damage. It does NOT "hit as hard as a spammable" on its own.

Now, we can say it does make Wield Soul, Shield Throw and Travelling Knife hit for similar damage to other spammables, that would be a fair/accurate point to make. But we should also account for those scribed abilities having downsides other spammables don't have:
Wield Soul - no DPS passives within it's line
Shield Throw - no DPS passives within it's line
Travelling Knife - significantly lower base damage and has increased cost due to being an AoE ability, but does have dual wield passives to bring it's damage up to other AoEs base values (except cost reduction doesn't work on mag versions of knife).

Allowing the class flourish to proc Reverb would not break anything since it would do nothing more than if a hard cast of frags proc'd reverb, but it would allow some diversity/options to remain for Sorcerers, especially if it's only the class flourish itself that is allowed to proc reverb and not the whole scribing ability with the flourish slotted (meaning it's still only 1 chance per cast like casting frags to proc reverb is and would not be multiple chances per cast to proc reverb like it currently works).
