Alchemy surveys have not been updated since time immemorial, not even mushrooms have been added to them.
New alchemy reagents - including this latest batch - haven't been added either. They are exclusively monster/incursion/'wild' drops.
PvP players were given tri-pots for AP because bending over to pick up stuff is just 'not their thing' and buying from those who do bend over to pick up things is (thus set the prices accordingly) is 'an outrage'.
Yet one of the new reagents drops from IC sewers (mostly) and Cyro nodes are going to behave as 'survey nodes'.
Can someone please riddle me this one? Because I really don't understand.
What next? You get master writs mailed directly to your account as 'Rewards for the Worthy'?
Furthermore, will Cyro nodes stop having a chance of yielding Dew/Furnishing materials as survey nodes can't yield those?
tl;dr: what is the point of surveys moving forward when I can go to cyro and bypass the whole thing?

You can't be sent back to the spawn while picking flowers and surveys in Bangkorai. You can in Cyro.
That being said I do think it's an unnecessary change, given cyro is a pvp zone, not even sure why we have harvestable resources there in the first place.

I have been farming in Cyro for years - because Dew. I have never met another player let alone 'be sent to the spawn' unless I deliberately bloodport because I am done.
Furthermore you can't just go pick up surveys in Bangkorai - to use your simile - you need to either do daily writs and be '''rewarded''' with surveys or buy them from traders.
Surveys were already wildly devalued, this change is if not the final nail in the coffin very close to it.

Surveys could use a buff but are still faster because the mats are all in one spot. Personally, I sell mine because I find them tedious.
One of the new reagents with heal absorption and defile (PvP traits) drops in "snowy" PvE zones, benefiting overland farmers. Some of the other new potion traits will make alchemy farming more valuable.
