I'd like the ability to lock doors as we have in Buccaneer Bay for Sheogorad Chateau. I don't care much for the zany upside-down rooms or the doors with impossible geometry that connect across time and space to each other. I could block off the rooms, but the doors are in positions where blocking off would be bad or infeasible. If I could choose to lock those doors, this would be an instant buy. The town inside the building is a great and beautiful piece of work, and totally unique. I'd buy the house for the inside-town alone, but the extremely confusing way doors connect is very off putting, and I don't think it'd ruin the more shivering-isles parts of the home to be able to lock the doors. Truly a beautiful home. Maybe the most beautiful Dunmeri home in the game.

Grotto of Desires is a cool free home. I love getting some more housing editor exclusive furnishings for free, theoretically.

Target Kargrym, Trial seems entirely unimplemented. No asset, no hitbox.

Edit: Whoops, sorry, meant to put this in the bug thread.

    Grotto of Desires -

It's an interesting choice to combine Murkmire Straw Furnishings with a traditional stone castle. I don't hate it as it allows build versatility, but the sole determining factor of if I buy this house would come down to if I can change the color of the water/lighting in the grotto.

    1) The dark red wate/lighting + the straw just looks bad and kills the ability for this house to be able to be kitbashed in to something FAR better, where as if there was a way to change the color of the water to a basic blue or purple there is a TON of versatility for this house (pleasure resort, argonian village, etc). The forced red hue in the water is a big miss. Add the same altar feature that Dancing Waters Wellspring does and this will be one of the top selling houses IMO.

    2) The "Entrance Tent" needs to either be removable, or the actual 'spawn point' of the entrance need to be moved further infront of the tent. As it stands right now, you zone in seeing the tent flaps. However, almost everyone that kitbashes this is going to be HIDING this tent if it doesnt match their aesthetic (its the only non-removal item in the whole area) so at least make it easier to hide.

    3) a minor tidbit - but the side temples on Left and Right very clearly look like they have a door that should be transitioned in to, if they are not meant to be entered I would probably change the visual aesthetic away from a door.

    Sheogorad Chateau -

It absolutely pains me that we get a gorgeous new Dunmeri house and its set-up in a gimmicky way that will make huge portions of it unusable.

The layout is a tragedy worse then Skingrad Castle in bad user experience and actual utility/flow through. I'm sure to some extent it is intentional, but unclear walking paths are just not fun and getting 'lost' in your own home loses its charm after the first 5 minutes.

All the rooms are rather small and tight, there is limited space to actually make this house look 'lived in' - the two largest spaces are gimmic spaces that can't be easily fixed with kitbashing.

    Some pros:

    1) The furnished version coming with a few of the very rare Vvardenfell panels/art is a great idea (please include a tryptarch or two!). Some of these are worth 1M gold or more on PC-NA and may make purchasing the furnished version worth it.

    2) I appreciate that at least some portions of the house look normal and the non-normal areas can be closed off, basically we can 'hide' the sheogorath bits except the doors.

    3) The 'idea' of a sheogoroth house is a great one, but it should have either been BLATANTLY serving that community (think Theatre of the Ancestors), instead this feels like a Dunmeri estate that has a few Sheo elements tacked on (badly).

That's nice to hear! I still think the ability to change the lighting is not a huge ask. It can default at red but just being able to switch it would change this house for me from 'never going to use it' to 'might be my primary'

Compared to the last 3 houses we got (Rogue's Refuge, Dancing Waters, and Star-gazers) these the Sheogorth is a major downgrade in quality. The Grotto is fantastic, just fix the tent and the colors!

The new breton roof structures are missing the gable piece and there is a lack of pieces that fit the gap. Colovian gable doesn't fit on it right. The breton roof angled has a spike that sticks out making two of the breton roof angled put togther not fit right either. the breton doorways are too tall to work with the door in the right place and to work with the colovian gable for lack of breton gable. overall the new structural furnishings do not fit together very well and for multiple storied homes create more issues with the plaster wall/doorway having so much extra wood matieral underneath where the door is.

I don’t have too many criticisms, especially as a Sanguine enjoyer… excited to get my hands on that house on live…

I was looking forward to maybe some intractable features like other recent houses have had but I wanted to give my compliments to the devs for a few details in particular:

Sheogorad: The patio to the Shivering Isles is beautiful. It feels very… properly Sheogorath. The mushrooms were instantly recognizable from Oblivion and AGH, the SOUNDS!!! The AMBIENCE!!! I love how unsettling and even horrifying the environment there can sound. It honestly makes me wish we had a Shivering Isles house, maybe a plot.

Grotto: I had a fun time trying to decipher what the “water” actually is. I’m still not entirely sure but it’s most certainly not water… maybe it’s chaotic creatia? Wine? Too translucent to be blood… but too thick to be water…
Also, the rose petals when it’s raining is a brilliant touch!
I wasn’t overly joyful with the Argonian/Colovian mashup theme but with its location, I suppose it makes sense and it definitely grew on me.

Here to also chime in about the new Breton furnishings missing a gable or seamless way to use the roof pieces. Haven't played around with them too much to see if something else fits, and looks good. But currently, as it stands, individually the pieces are great, but as a set they're lacking.

And as the other person mentioned, the doorways having extra wood beneath them makes placing them on a 2nd floor a bit frustrating to work with. Not impossible, but imposes some restrictions.

The new Breton structural furnishings really provide a wealth of new material that inspires building from scratch – thank you, love it!
But besides the missing gable, which others have already mentioned, it would also be nice if there were a transparent version of the rectangular windows. I'm so tired of always having to use the High Isle windows when I want an unobstructed view.

The texture/ resolution for a lot of the new furnishings is a downgrade. This is the angled roof.
    It looks... smudgy?

I'm excited to get roof pieces. Please fix these before Update 51 goes live. The textures are so bad :c

The "stone" for the Breton Cellar pieces is also low-rez texture. Major downgrade compared to any stonework we've had years ago in ESO.

    It once again looks smudgy.

Antiquarian home came out 6 years ago. It has clearly defined stonework with details.

Breton Cellar stonework looks like smudgy clay. Looks awful up close.

    Breton Window, Peaked

I'd love to have this arched wooden window as an open-air window.
Simply make it a rectangular piece by adding a thin wood panel around the arch at the top.

    Feedback for houses:

I'm still begging to buy an alpine biome plot where I can build something from scratch.

I'd pay to remove the buildings from Forgemaster Falls, Willowpond Haven, Antiquarian, Hakkvild's High Hall (with entrance being outdoors), & Hiddenspring Cottage.

Neither of the 2 new houses are empty plots. We have new structural pieces, but we're not being sold homes to build structures in. My wallet remains unused :C

I'm not interested in Grotto of Desires, but I do hope that future homes do not suffer from how bad the pixel view is from this home.

The drastic drop in quality for structural furnishing textures and skyboxes in homes is concerning.
I hope whoever was in charge of textures wasn't fired. I'm stumped as ESO was supposed to be trying to improve graphics, not downgrade.

    Breton Cellar Doorway, Stone

compared to Mathiisen Manor stonework and wood textures.
Mathiisen Manor was released in 2017.

My eyes keep trying to focus to try to make out the stonework in the Breton Cellar series, but it's all smudges. The wood texture is also low rez smudge.

I love most of the Grotto house, I do hope you make it so the wood argonian pieces can be removed. The tent placement is an issue as it just throws entering the home completely off. The mix of Colovian and Argonian stonework is perfect and I wish that had been the continued choice over the wood. The red hue throughout is wonderful, and the entrance to the main structure is perfect. The inside is wonderful, such a large open space gives freedom for a lot of creativity.

If the wood pieces at the entrance can be removable that would be amazing and give a lot more room for players to build freely instead of just covering up. It really does take you out of the feel of the whole place when you enter and start walking around.

Echoing the sentiment regarding the texture quality of the breton structural furnishings. I noticed this when the Rogue's Refuge went up on PTS and ultimately chose to reskin the interior which cost me a fair amount of furnishing slots.

Some of the new furnishings are great, especially:
    • Breton Bust, Veiled
    • Sage Voernet's Tome, Replica
    • Ship in a Bottle, Yokudan (was a surprise to realise we didnt have a ship in a bottle furnishing before now, seems obvious in hindsight and looks great)
    • Fish Bowl, Small
    • Colovian Throne, Noble (unsure if there is any intended sourcing for this outside of the crown store and the one you get in the Grotto house - this needs to be craftable)
    • Fossil furnishings (I like the mudcrab in particular, the giant sea beast is imo too big to really use outside of some niche scenarios but I imagine someone will find a cool use for it)

We were shown the Bountiful Treasure Hoard furnishing in a stream. I havent been able to find it in-game but I hope it's relatively easily sourced as it was the thing I was most looking forward to. An open treasure chest filled with gold has been an obvious gap in treasure-related furnishings to date.

Wow, does the roof really look like that from the outside? That's really disappointing. What are those wooden slats supposed to be anyway? It looks much better to use the Elsweyr wooden wall as a roof, like before...

Regarding the strange spikes, though: I suspect they're meant to help with alignment, along with the other roof structural, the roof peak, if you want to build a larger roof?
Or are they intersecting roof beams at the ridge?

Breton door, wooden: I don’t know if it’s on purpose but the knob is missing on one side, and the door opens on the wrong side (it must be pulled on the side where there is no knob; and seeing the metal “frames”, it should open the other way IMHO). Or maybe it’s a hidden door? In that case it should be said in its name maybe?

My current feedback will be about the new furnishings. I am glad to see new structural furnishings, even though some are a reskin of Colovian elements.

I would like to congratulate the people who contributed to this piece: Breton Window Frame, Bay

    s9us1fg9l0u2.png

This creates many possibilities in combination with the new windows. The older High Isle, transparent, fits, but is not a perfect fit.
    6ywbq5ropkgk.png

The Breton window, however, fits perfectly, and this is an example of a modular design which is great for building new houses, rather than just patching an existing house.

Like others have said, the Breton door doesn't have a handle on one side, and I want to point out an issue that is common with other doors as well. The doors don't really fit in the door frame. This is probably because the doors in the game world act like portals, and the animation is not important, but they always clip with the threshold or with another part of the frame. Could you please fix this? Here is an example below, where I used the EHT addon to precisely place the door and the door frame, using fixed coordinates and angles, so there is no error from my side.

    ogr2oelcd5y5.png

It is great to see a Colovian throne added, but we still need the desk, as for the rustic High Isle theme.

Another positive surprise, was to see a tribute to Italian art through the Breton Bust, Veiled praxis from Rollis. There are several veiled busts like this, but one of the most known is the The Veiled Virgin by Giovanni Strazza, an Italian sculptor from the 19th century. Congratulations to the team who did this! <3

    9vfaym8mtq64.jpg

I would also like to add that it would be awesome to release a housing space with an empty plot for people to craft original projects. Something like an island would give the most opportunities. Having a flat area without boulders or ruins that can't be moved, would be really great. Or a small crater, to start building from a basement.
