THIS IS SO GOOD

I'm so happy with this.

Whoever realised that self, friendly and enemy all need different intensities is the GOAT. I can set mine to normal so i can see if something runs out, friendlys to minimal because their hurricane just isn't important to me, and enemy to low so it still shows up but the entire area isn't just one big red blob.

It's so good.

I would be useful to be able to specify these for group members. Specifically support DD, healers and tanks. If that's asking too much, then at the least by role. Let me see tank and healer effects at normal, and DD's as minimal.

There needs to be a choice for environmental too. Housing for instance has too many light furnishings that bleed through walls. Some mounts are also like mini supernovas.

The addition of the customisable VFX settings is what finally convinced me to download the PTS, as I have wanted something like this for as long as I can remember.

I immediately found the settings and set all of them down to Minimal. It is a bit difficult to check how others' effects are affected since there are so few people on PTS, but I tested with equipping some glowy mounts and pets, as well as my own skills.

It is obviously working with skills and set effects, but I am not sure how effective this is at minimising the glow from mounts and pets. Here you can see the default setting versus the Minimal setting, with some sparkly animals equipped. They still feel very, very shiny. (You can also see the decreased intensity of the Pyrebrand class set glow.)

I would like the ability to turn off the glow completely. My non-mage characters' combat skills shouldn't be glowing at all, and I do not want to see any glow on other players, ever. I use a class set for difficult content on my main, and I would particularly like to disable the glow of this entirely, as I find it unsightly and distracting. As these settings are personal I cannot see why that would be a problem. Maybe just add a more clear explanation to the menu of what these settings do, so that no one turns them on by accident then complains that their skills aren't working.

Also, would it be at all possible to extend these settings to apply to teleport animations as well? Some of the recent ones... really take over the screen, to put it as mildly as I can.

That said, while I think this could use improvement, I can tell it will already be a massive quality of life improvement for me (and presumably a lot of other players). I find glowy stuff both visually overwhelming and aesthetically displeasing, so the ability to tone it down at all is already huge. Thank you for this, and I really hope it can be iterated upon in the future.

I'm also really happy about this arriving. Some skills have aura's that are still very heavy, especially in contrast to some that are muted. I might find more and will update but i'd already like to point out:

Vigor is still way too prominent, especially in first person.

if there are 3 tiers i feel like it shouldn't be that prominent. Compared to the other aura's this is really too much, and i hope if there are more visuals that thick and high on the interface that they get adjusted, especially for that lowest tier. Ideally it would both become way thinner and less opaque.

Really good start on this with really clear impact for player effects. I hope that this will be further built out to include environmental effects and NPCs.

It's a nice start, the minimal setting should be default for all three. At least it makes it somewhat bearable to look at the game again,

I'd prefer if we could disable the display of player non-combat pets entirely. It should be possible, since ESO hides other players' companions in towns.

I like this A LOT but please also add the option to completely hide the visual effects in first person, you know the ones that are on the bottom of the screen when buffed or healed etc.

Also: the 2h random camera zoom out is still not fixed in first person

An option like this would make using twohanded weapon much more enjoyable. The orange weapon trails are incredibly annoying for people like me who want to play their characters as mundane warriors.

I generally find that the game can be a bit flashier than I'd like and the changes as a whole really do a great job of turning that down. I'll probably be running it at minimal for everyone besides myself and on myself choose either minimal or low depending on the character. I've sometimes gotten eye strain from ESO and I think this might reduce the amount that occurs.

If no, please let us know what did not meet your satisfaction.

If we want to get really nit picky, Refreshing Path is rather hard to see on minimal and Liquid Lightning is still a bit on the flashy side at minimal but it is lightning so...

But, really the function is wonderful and I can always swap to low when I want refreshing path.

Love this so much. Seconding the request to turn off visual effects altogether (at least on the player character) I don’t mind so much on others

Thank you for making this feature, i am glad that it is in update 51.
But i wish i could just fully turn off flashing effects.

The Y'ffre Bound weapon styles have a pulsing green glow and i like the design of the weapons but the effect hurts to look at.

i made a post about it several years ago when it was new and i think 90% reduction will still show this effect's pulsing.
Do lightning effects on weapon styles and mounts stay visible? i cannot check on PTS myself.

When this feature was said to be in development in January i hoped there would at minimum be a 0% option for video effects.
And i really hope you will add options for effects that are not from characters like
- Hardmode scrolls
- lightning
- literally any lightning effect
- screen wide flashes from bosses and quests

I can't PTS (console) so I'm really looking forward to seeing how this looks in a trial. Specifically, fights like the first Boss fight in Ossein Cage, with the Shapers of Flesh. The visual clutter in that fight is absolutely overwhelming. Being able to actually SEE the spreading poison will be so useful!

Asking others to run a trial on PTS is bit far (but hey! If you want!), so I'll wait 'til we get U51 to see.

can you PLEASE give us also a doggle for this vfx clutter in first person? On the bottom and top etc. It makes first person kinda unplayable

I wasn't able to download the PTS, but can I just ask the team to please consider giving us an option to disable mounting up visuals or other types of bright flashes? I quite like a little bit of colour and flashiness, but the exploding mounts can be really painful on the eyes, and when players mount up right next to us, these flashes can take up your entire screen and be really overwhelming.

IIRC LunaFlora has been making a list of bright flashes that need to be looked into too (edit: oh, she does refer to her post in this thread). I do think these should be considered as accessibility options.
