New Community Input Dashboards

Hi everyone! We’re excited to share with you something the ESO Community team has been working on behind the scenes for several months. We have set up two new dashboards with Feature Upvote to help us capture your input and measure priorities, as decided by you.

The two boards are for Feedback & Suggestions and Bugs & Pain Points. These are intended to be evergreen boards, and not specifically for PTS or one update. You will see some submissions pre-populated as a start.

So, what purpose do these boards serve versus the forums and Reddit? While we read your suggestions, bugs, and pain points daily, understanding what you view as the highest priorities can be a bit more challenging. With these boards, you can upvote any submissions that are important to you, and we can, in turn, see that measurement over time. This will act as an additional data point to help us understand what is most important to you and prioritize work for The Elder Scrolls Online, while giving you greater visibility into what’s important to your fellow players and the statuses of things you submit.

These are mentioned on both boards, but there are a few things everyone should keep in mind.
  • At this time, we ask that all submissions be in English, please.
  • All submissions and comments will go through a moderation queue prior to being published and are subject to our Code of Conduct.
  • Please try to leverage appropriate Tags to help us and other players filter submissions.
  • We will do our best to keep the status of each submission up to date*.
*We are going to give everyone a couple weeks to populate the boards with initial submissions and will update statuses as often as we can after that.

Please bear in mind that because the ESO Community team must review and approve every submission and comment, we will do our best to have a turnaround time of 1-2 business days. If there are duplicate submissions, we do have the ability to merge them.

Thank you, and please let us know if you have any questions or feedback!

    Hi devs,

I’ve been playing Vengeance daily for the past 2 months atleast 5 hours a day (10+ hours/day during this test). I even got ESO+ for the first time to fully experience the test so I could give a real feedback.

Sets felt great. Keeping the 5-piece bonus is a good choice, it added what vengeance needed since we dont have skill morphs there. but I believe that starting with crafted sets + mythics would be the right choise since it allow monetization while still encouraging healthy player interaction, since crafting is the base/easy content.

Loadouts are fine, but Unleashed Fury is overtuned and should be heavily nerfed or removed.

    Class balance:

    * Templar: needs more sustain and damage.
    * Nightblade: needs a nerf (Grim Focus or invis healing).
    * Dragonknight: only unbalanced due to Unleashed Fury since they dont have, damage so their healing keep them playable.
    * Sorcerer: needs instant Frags; damage is too low making it almost unplayable without Overload spam.
    * Warden: lacks sustain and damage; costs on skills are too high.
    * Necro / Arcanist: need better magicka/stamina sustain. they are great on 1v1 but bad for medium/large scale pvp.

Thank you for keeping vengeance updated, even big PVP Streamers said that vengeance COULD be a restart for cyro, if you
guys makes the right balancements, so one day Gray Host wont make ESO's PVP reputation bad again.

Are those trackable with APIs, so we can track them with webhooks/Bots on Discord? Or do we have an Notify option? I think many of us who want to participate in this won't be able to keep up with it while the daily life goes on.

This isn't going to be the only way bugs get fixed going forward, right? Because there's still a plethora of base game quests that hard lock if done in a group, reported and never fixed, and they're not likely to get a bunch of upvotes in a popularity contest for most important bugs to fix, because long term, invested players don't usually need to do base game quest content anymore. But it's still important these bugs get fixed, because we want the players doing base game quests to eventually become long term, invested players.
    I care what you think.

Okay, back with answers. So, we do have an API for this and the ability to hook it up to web, Jira, and Discord, but it's more for our end, to let us know when there are new submissions that need review and approval. (We get email notifications for this, too!)

If you upvote a specific submission, or when you submit your own, you can choose to be notified of updates via email. For the former, you will see this screen:

No, this will not be the only way bugs get fixed going forward. We still use the in-game /bug reports, forums, etc. This is just one more avenue, and gives us a better view into the ones that are causing the most friction, as voted by the community. If a bug is not reported on this board and/or not upvoted, that doesn't mean it isn't getting fixed.

The earliest submissions will obviously have a huge head start without necessarily actually being what the community wants most.

Additionally, some players have greater reach than others.

On top of that, whatever is showing at the top will be more likely to get votes and the further you have to scroll down the less likely something is to get votes.

Do you guys have any measures in place for combatting these biasing factors?

It would seem to me if there's the ability to use Discord hooks on the dev end of things that teeeechnically they should also be available for something like Dwemer Bot to have access to? I don't know anything about any sort of coding though so I could be entirely wrong.

    Another question.

PC has more players so PC will obviously get more votes. Are there any plans on using the console tag to see what console players want for console specific issues?

There's an option to add more tags for a specific issue, including for PC and Console.

Yes. I know. I'm trying to ask if they're planning on filtering for it since console has a much lower install base and even smaller percentage of webpage users.

If they don't go out of their way to filter for it there's little hope of those surfacing.

I'm glad to know issues can be tagged PC or console. But I want to reiterate @spartaxoxo's point, because console lived with a whole slew of pretty awful bugs and lack of QOL things that had been "fixed" by add-ons. Until we got add-ons, and even so, we're still living with a lot, because our add-ons have a hard memory limit, and there aren't nearly as many add-ons for console as there are for PC. The limit is so low that most people I know use an add-on for add-on loadouts. I have 7 loadouts I switch between, all with a /reloadui between them.

I greatly appreciate the add-ons we have, nevertheless the game is still much harder to navigate for many reasons on console, but our voices always get drowned out.

One glaring example: trading guilds. It still takes literal hours to price check anything if you want to check beyond the capitals. Yes, TSCPriceFetcher2 exists, and is great, but it only updates for the user once a week, and depends on people scanning each trader and uploading that data through the pretty awful console web browsers. For brand new items, or items with rapidly changing pricing, it's useless.

*We are going to give everyone a couple weeks to populate the boards with initial submissions and will update statuses as often as we can after that.

Hey Jessica, this will likely result in the current 'placeholder' bugs/suggestions being artificially inflated to the top and thus have a distinct high vote advantage, especially if its not clear what date/time you will be actually adding new ones.

I think this is a great vehicle, but I would recommend you all add submissions as quickly as you are able, as opposed to 'waiting' for a batch.

I think there will always be an issue with artificial inflation of the oldest submissions. But they have started approving new ones already, a couple of mine are there. I think Jess meant that they will approve new ones over the next couple of weeks but only start updating progress/outcomes (etc) after that.

On which note - presumably for something that is already planned (or already possible), that will be called out specifically, and those closed off? I personally would suggest it's not worth waiting two weeks for those, as long as they're still visible to others, as then people can start upvoting things that don't yet exist.

Also I forgot to add tags to one of them lol, but it seems I can't add those after it's approved

I threw a bunch in there, so clearly I'm excited.

I'm really happy to see this. It's a great way to see long-request features and their status. If changes are not deemed feasible, what will the feedback loop look like? Or what about a solution that's a compromise to the change suggested?

I also see more people engaging with it who didn't engage with feedback in other ways already which makes me hopeful we'll see more voices being heard/feeling comfortable sharing feedback. <3

Further on this one - if the default view was "Newest" rather than "Top" (or maybe "Trending", as that should at least fluctuate more), that might help address the artificial inflation.

The plan is that we provide an admin comment saying if something is not possible or planned and why, or if we're doing something instead, and give it an matching, appropriate status tag. That's the piece that will take a little more time, so we're pushing through submissions now, merging duplicates (and will catch any in the next day or two that we missed), and will start checking in with dev on statuses. There's probably going to be some category tag cleanup/adding needed, too.

I realize this presents another technical time-sink/ hurdle, but finding a way to implement this feature in game via a web-wrapper or something would be fantastic for the community. I don't play on console anymore, but lots of people do or simply aren't regular forum goers.

One suggestion for the boards - change the default sort to something like newest first rather than ‘top’ to help limit the bias. People can still change the view if they want to see what the board thinks is a priority
