How dare you allow this...

I do not pay $15 for lack luster security...

You really should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing gold spam to be EMAILED to your users from your own forums...

I am seriously in shock right now at how these spammers/bots have completely dominated you as a company and just do as they please...

Spend some of our money on some experts and maybe the job will get done right.

It was an email notification from the ESO forums that an account sent you a private message in the forums. There are settings to change whether you get email notifications.

@Oblongship‌ If your forum settings are set to send you email notifications when you receive private messages, then you will receive an email at your private email.

The spammers do not have your email address.

No. What you got is a notification email from this forum that you have a PM (Personal Message), apparently from a goldseller ...

That is *not* the same as a goldseller sending you a direct email. Your email was never given away. You can turn off PM notifications in your profile.

I'm flabbergasted that so many people do not understand the meaning of the word notification ...

We'd like to assure you that if the email you received is from community@elderscrollsonline.com, then it is an automated forum notification. These email notifications happen when someone sends you a private message on the forums.

You can change your notifications by going here and selecting Notification Preferences on the left menu bar. This allows you to adjust when you get a forum notification (popup) and when you get emails. It's possible to fully disable either by un-checking all of the categories.

We're going to close this thread, as we have a larger thread about this issue currently. We welcome you to head there!
