A Night of Terror

Last night I played couple BGs, and one of them against Werewolfs.

You know the rest...

Anyways, before one of that games I was about to play against 3 sorcs and 1 NB. I though the Sorcs could do a lot of damage. But when the BG started they jumped on the ground and all 3 transformed in Werewolfs...

The scenes was scary, and at that point I knew it, we were doomed.

So the massacre started. The NB was a immortal tank that was standing in one flag only healing and not dying. And the three WW, oh gosh they hunted us like little cats, they bitten us, they scratched us, they dilacereted us, they humiliated us.

But I knew 100% that was coming and I was only hoping that Night of Terror could end as fast as possible...

    At least your complaining about werewolves in PvP was somewhat entertaining, so good job. It's better than the other multitude of threads whining about werewolf in PvP.

    The players that defend the state of this game are comical. Even had one try to compare this game to Street Fighter.

    OP, at least you weren't in low level BGs with WWs. The devs really must not have gone in there and played low level BGs to see just how "bad" the experience is vs. WWs.

    It was always a problem, but man after they BUFFED WW it got worse. We don't need to use the term "rework" to hide that it was complete buff.

    Recent imbalance changes have given me the resolve to decide that design is not good at what they do.
    Rest in Peace:
    The Dragonknight
    2014-2025

    This commemoration is for the class that has constantly been plundered and dismantled by designers for no obvious reason while other classes continue to have coherent skill lines and feel both powerful and cool.

    I love the buildup and the images that come to mind as I read your post, vicious werewolves running around terrorizing the masses while everyone was running and screaming. It reminds me of the Underworld movies.

    (the 28k was one was an emp but I honestly don’t know how considering I hit this hard myself with 2-3 defensive sets on my DK in corro/onslaught)

    30k resists with major protection on my part, as much as I can have with ‘good damage’ (have blue mit CP as well since it’s one of the few things that mitigates bonk/corro)

    I have far more examples than this. Let’s not all pretend like werewolf is the only one running around on a reworked level (and a werewolf especially isn’t running around potentially 2-3 shotting ‘good players’). Good to see you again already by the way, @Luneca.

    Go post this drek in ‘combat balance’. Y’all will get your ‘unviable werewolf’ again, takes little to no effort with the same people posting over and over with near-everything overdramatized; this but the combat team has never been able to make the correlation it seems hence why they spend massive amounts of coin on a rework just to make performance abysmal again.

    There is a difference here.

    Werewolf it is doing the damage and having the survability ALL THE TIME.

    To hit hard with a DK Power Lash you need to put the enemy off balance, and you need corrosive or onslaught to bypass the armor.

    It is strong I agree but it is a total different situation compared with WW. You have a small window to put everything together and do your combo. A WW just blinded smash 5 buttons and it is done with no cool down, no small window.

    Don't get me wrong. I really agree with de ESO Development Team in WW actual situation, they should be scary, If you see a WW and you don't feel fear, something is wrong.

    But, and I will repeat, BUT the WW should not be that strong ALL THE TIME.

    They could be a transformation like Vampire or Necro but they can't be up all the time. Maybe make them hard to keep fed. Or another trade off, a silver potion that increase dmg or reduz dmg against WW.

    There is a lot of way to make this right.

    Keep WW OP, but give some trade off.

    Vampire and Necro situation are just ridiculous right now, nobody running theirs ultimate compared a WW and this is sad,because when somebody turn into a Vampire ou Goliath, and we don't feel the same fear when a DK procs a corrosive or a WW jump on our back, something is really wrong.

    So ZOS, please don't nerf WW, but put some trade off on his ultimate and make the class rework that every class can have a Ultimate that make the others fear when it is up.

    Brother, I causally whip people for 15-19k on a crit… all I have to do is sit on my back bar, pop CoE, a heal, and it’s ready.

    ‘Needs some trade-off’->

    Here is a somewhat comprehensive list from forums of what they don’t get:

    “-no burst (no like really, go through the skills)
    -no in-kit immobilize
    -no snare
    -no snare removal/immunity
    -no purge
    -no major expedition in kit (have to give up a set/dmg/something for a mediocre version of it)
    -no actual hot (definitely not like vigor)
    -no shields in-kit
    -limited mag sustain (out of rampage)
    -no minor resolve
    -minor protection dependent on morph
    -major evasion dependent on morph
    -minor maim dependent on morph
    list certainly goes on…

    ~~~
    Cannot access a monster and a mythic (or weapon sets by extension) like everyone else. Balorgh doesn’t really function for us (which is a staple for viable burst damage in many PvP builds right now)
    Monomyth which could at least be viable for damage basically doesn’t function for us damage wise (it defaults to back bar buffs)
    ///
    Unrelated, in PvE/PvP I’m pressing far more buttons than the average player bar swapping Me personally (meaning the absolute height of werewolf damage regardless of how small the increases are)>
    (in the case of Berserker especially)>
    I am:
    -light attack cancelling everything
    -bash cancelling everything (this equates to 3 buttons a second… if you didn’t know)
    -popping a synergy during my roar every 20-30 seconds
    -keeping a wonky as fluff AoE dot (claws) up every 6 seconds in PvP
    -keeping my stam up with my heal as needed (especially off of sorc… you can absolutely be stam broken if you don’t pay attention)
    -holding rampage if on Packleader/popping on CD with solo Berserker especially
    -eating constantly either via ‘tap’ or just filling up when possible (mainly solo Berserker)
    would also like to draw attention to the popping an execute dot at full health that does literally no damage into execute (so it hopefully finishes them in execute)
    ///
    I am not outright killing ‘good players’ outside of a war of attrition, one that I won’t win with a ‘good DK’ given core-of-flame. Hekk, most of wolf’s damage was nerfed from last live and is being heavily carried by proc sets (not unique to wolf) and masteries like reverb.
    Remember when wolf’s damage didn’t cut it last patch? Outside of new procs, it basically went down across the board except for the ability to slot a mythic other than Oakensoul.
    Hekk, quick reminder that our spammable right now is only 10% more than surprise attack (also gives flank guaranteed crit and off balance from this) and they both proc the same status effect too:
    2sxvpc3cpy69.jpeg
    khr1cbw4nywf.jpeg
    The reworked classes are miles ahead of the non-reworked ones and the only one that is close is sorc with a consistent sustain class mastery (which is clearly a big solution) and it already has multiple burst moves in its toolkit. People do this every time werewolf is viable A) because they don’t like change and B- because they unfairly question the integrity of werewolf being viable
    Recent imbalance changes have given me the resolve to decide that design is not good at what they do.
    Yep, zero confidence in the reworks even when they "maybe" come 100 years from now. And that's because when we have a team that releases things like the current WW and DK, and what they've done in the same patches is nerf non-reworked classes then even plan terrible changes (like templar losing minor sorcery for a crappy resistance buff no one asked for), then you know whatever that team has planned isn't what you or everyone else playing thinks it is.
    The idea that WW and DK are both fine because ZOS might buff other classes similarly is so flawed, that it doesn't even need to be refuted beyond asking for proof that is the case. And anyone parroting that nonsensical argument can never provide it because we have no information on the reworks.
    And even beyond that, just look at history. How long was NB cloak literally broken OP before it got "adjusted" into its terrible toggle form? What about the era where major evasion gave a dodge chance? How long did it take for implosion to get adjusted in the past? Etc.
    Now we can make the argument that it's a different team. Okay. But then, despite being a different team, they are making the same exact mistakes and treading on the same old ground that was problematic before.
    Tossing out HP% healing, when it wasn't too long ago that DARK CLOAK was nerfed because of HP-scaling healing. Puncturing sweeps got hit and it didn't have HP% healing.
    Now we have WW with an AoE spammable and literally stacked buffs that require little input or no input to maintain, and in that context it's balanced but past skills that sat on their own in weaker contexts were not?
    Ohhh wait, it's a NEW TEAM! Well then, the new team had better remove the old rules then right?
    Oh wait they handed out nerfs and made negative changes following the old system in the same patches they released reworked classes. So, when that's the case. Who in the hell believes that ZOS is taking a different balance direction from before with a new team?
    It instead looks like they are simply favoring a class or whatever you want to call it for a while to attract players, then use that as "content" for a boom-bust cycling of players which they hope to keep engaged with terrible systems like dynamic encounters. Where they will lock power behind these systems and you grind for it or you don't get the power, and you play whatever class they are favoring or get destroyed.
    I don't know about anyone else, but that does not sound like a net positive experience in the game for me, that plays and has every class in the game and doesn't like to fight people when I can win and have no possibility of dying. I don't even fire siege that hard and in a destructive way unless the hammer or emp is around. I literally give people a break even when firing siege because I want them to enjoy the game too.
    It's unfortunate that not every PvPer sees it that way in this "community" that's obsessed with winning and stupid clips on Youtube to terrible music that no one cares to watch. What a shame and how far has this game fallen in PvP, both community wise and development wise. Pathetic.
    I only don't think it is right that quality it is up 100% of the time 😂
    QoL (main focus being PvP):
    -Basically no one uses Berserker in anything besides a duel, the no protection and 1 second dot are virtually unforgiving.
    -Basically no one uses Hircine’s Rage in PvP, the heal is abysmal and the damage taken punishment is insane for how hard I’m already hit in PvP… running actual wep/spell damage for healing and using this morph results in basically nothing (it’s like 20% less than a breath of life and you take up to 12% more damage)
    -The 6 second claw dot is absurdly short especially since there is ridiculous potential for ‘positional dsync’ (play a werewolf for a few days and tell me how many times the claws ‘miss’ someone seemingly directly in front of you)
    -The leap just basically doesn’t function… at all. I’m not saying we need a snare because that’d be overly annoying but it quite literally fails to function against anyone remotely fast (like I cannot follow-up with anything). More importantly, it very often just puts me back in place versus actually taking me to the target (same type of ‘slight elevation’ issues as the Arcanist portal)
    -The DoT execute feels horrible to pop as you literally use a whole GCD to do nothing to someone at full health with the hope you get them to a lower value.
    -Rampage is heavily announced to everyone (which is fine) but then I have to also burn a whole GCD just to pop it (and I’m doing basically nothing also during that GCD)
    ~~~

    If we receive nerfs, these things absolutely should be considered. Huge attention to the horrid wep/spell damage ‘Hircine’s Rage’ heal and the 1 and 6 second dots (from 4 and a higher value; and 10-20 seconds with a similar value on prior live, respectively). I’d also be fine if they removed some bite healing and translated it back to the burst heal (which still has a significant cost out of rampage)

    Yes, I have two werewolves, one a Nightblade and one a Warden, that I don't PvP with. I also have 3 DK's, 3 Necros, 4 Nightblades, 3 Sorcerors, 4 Arcanists, 3 Templars, and 4 Wardens. I PvP'ed in Vengeance when Blackreach wasn't available, and now I'm back to Blackreach on one of the Arcanists. I know some people have a hard time wrapping their heads around the idea that many, many of us aren't so wrapped up in PvP balance that we need to complain about WW or DK in every thread. Not all of us are that sweaty when it comes to killing imaginary players or monsters.

    I'm not asking to nerf any of this things, actually I really enjoy to start a fight with a WW. It is impacting to see a WW running at me with no fear at all. And that sensation "oh my gosh it is a WW" it is really fun.

    The problem is the overwhelming fights against ANY WWs. I can get punished by sorcs and punish other sorcs, same with DK and any other classes. But the WW it is always the same think and never end. It is a killing machine on his 100% best all the time.

    This is were WW starts to get bothering. Know I just see a WW in Cyrodil and I just go away. This is not fun anymore.

    I think the sensation to fight a WW should be close to fight a DK, when a DK proc a Corrosive I know I can't keep hitting him, I know I will die if I don't block or dodge or run, I know the corrosive it is his time to kill, but the WW has his time to kill and do not die all the time.

    For that reason I don't want to nerf WW skills, but I think that's really make sense a timer to the transformation. And like corrosive you can't get ultimate when you are in the WW form. And make hard to get fed all the time.

    You can still be the monster you are in WW form, but it is not fair you be this monster 24/7.

    As far I know WW should be running during the day 😉

    -no major expedition in kit (have to give up a set/dmg/something for a mediocre version of it)
    -no actual hot (definitely not like vigor)
    -no shields in-kit
    -limited mag sustain (out of rampage)
    -no minor resolve
    -minor protection dependent on morph
    -major evasion dependent on morph
    -no minor maim
    list certainly goes on…

    ///

    Cannot access a monster and a mythic (or weapon sets by extension) like everyone else. Balorgh doesn’t really function for us (which is a staple for viable burst damage in many PvP builds right now)

    Monomyth which could at least be viable for damage basically doesn’t function for us damage wise (it defaults to back bar buffs)”

    Do you really believe that the actual WW need to have access a something else?

    I believe werewolf could absolutely use some QoL and is entitled to not be nuked back into the ground for the upteenth time, especially given how much effort (and funds) they banked into recreating it.

    I think WW players are having the most Quality of Life possible in the game right now.

    I only don't think it is right that quality it is up 100% of the time 😂

    QoL (main focus being PvP):

    -Basically no one uses Berserker in anything besides a duel, the no protection and 1 second dot are virtually unforgiving.

    -Basically no one uses Hircine’s Rage in PvP, the heal is abysmal and the damage taken punishment is insane for how hard I’m already hit in PvP… running actual wep/spell damage for healing and using this morph results in basically nothing (it’s like 20% less than a breath of life and you take up to 12% more damage)

    -The 6 second claw dot is absurdly short especially since there is ridiculous potential for ‘positional dsync’ (play a werewolf for a few days and tell me how many times the claws ‘miss’ someone seemingly directly in front of you)

    -The leap just basically doesn’t function… at all. I’m not saying we need a snare because that’d be overly annoying but it quite literally fails to function against anyone remotely fast (like I cannot follow-up with anything). More importantly, it very often just puts me back in place versus actually taking me to the target (same type of ‘slight elevation’ issues as the Arcanist portal)

    -The DoT execute feels horrible to pop as you literally use a whole GCD to do nothing to someone at full health with the hope you get them to a lower value.

    -Rampage is heavily announced to everyone (which is fine) but then I have to also burn a whole GCD just to pop it (and I’m doing basically nothing also during that GCD)

    ~~~
    If we receive nerfs, these things absolutely should be considered. Huge attention to the horrid wep/spell damage ‘Hircine’s Rage’ heal and the 1 and 6 second dots (from 4 and a higher value; and 10-20 seconds with a similar value on prior live, respectively). I’d also be fine if they removed some bite healing and translated it back to the burst heal (which still has a significant cost out of rampage)
    I'm not asking to nerf any of this things, actually I really enjoy to start a fight with a WW. It is impacting to see a WW running at me with no fear at all. And that sensation "oh my gosh it is a WW" it is really fun.
    The problem is the overwhelming fights against ANY WWs. I can get punished by sorcs and punish other sorcs, same with DK and any other classes. But the WW it is always the same think and never end. It is a killing machine on his 100% best all the time.
    This is were WW starts to get bothering. Know I just see a WW in Cyrodil and I just go away. This is not fun anymore.
    I think the sensation to fight a WW should be close to fight a DK, when a DK proc a Corrosive I know I can't keep hitting him, I know I will die if I don't block or dodge or run, I know the corrosive it is his time to kill, but the WW has his time to kill and do not die all the time.
    For that reason I don't want to nerf WW skills, but I think that's really make sense a timer to the transformation. And like corrosive you can't get ultimate when you are in the WW form. And make hard to get fed all the time.
    You can still be the monster you are in WW form, but it is not fair you be this monster 24/7.
    As far I know WW should be running during the day 😉
    Again, I have listed a metric ton of drawbacks and I see more DKs and subclassed DKs than anything else (I have an astounding amount of OW screenshots to prove this as well as I can; primarily can see CoE/flame effects and lack of werewolves).
    15% damage is not 100k pen (in-game) and if you believe it is, you don’t understand basic mathematics.
    You have a main focus on 2 concepts for this (from my perspective) unless you’re being disingenuous:
    -werewolf is more geared towards sustain and therefore is ‘easier’ in BGs (which is the nature of no-CP); and you are more likely to see it there as result
    -werewolf is available to anybody, regardless of their character. This primarily means that someone who doesn’t want to be on the 1 reworked (including power level) class (DK) can decide to instead be a werewolf so…
    …it being an obvious choice with increased availability (including no warden rework for ‘meta hoppers’ to swap to) means that even what you and I would see are ‘inflated characters picks’ at that; this being that pick rate does not directly coincide with the werewolf kit intrinsically (best example is how a ‘non-DK player’ who doesn’t want to play werewolf but wants to be ‘competitive’ will play DK despite being a ‘NB main’ or a ‘Warden Main’ and vice-versa)
    You can put a thousands of drawbacks and this won't change the reality, WW are OP all the time.
    DK is really strong, but they are OP when they pop Corrosive or maybe Onslaught.
    8 or 10 seconds ultimate that you can put a addon and just block or roll dodge for couple seconds and you can still fight until the next burst window, VS a infinity uptime OP WW ultimate.
    Everybody has access to 100k pen with Onslaught do you know that right?
    If you can see any difference I can't help you...
    Right, so you just have your opinion, even when it isn’t rooted fully in fact. It’s based on your feeling. Fine, whatever.
    By the way, onslaught ‘steals’ the opponent’s resistance and gives it to you as pen. This is different depending on the situation (not a werewolf though). However, I wouldn’t expect you to know this- I won’t keep you.
    Do you really believe a OP ultimate should be up 100% of the time?
    Do you really believe a DK should fight in a BG with a corrosive up 100% of the time?
    Because werewolf totally gets 100k pen, a destro ult (same tooltip as destro ult on corro btw), and a 6% health cap on damage taken 100% of the time.
    You could be perma-wolf as a Berserker in the prior live when it was at its weakest according to many players (meaning form sustain isn’t directly proportional to… anything you’re referring to here). Also, solo berserker now struggles to stay in or requires much greater effort (and ergo isn’t even ‘infinite’ without much greater effort).
    But anyways, I’ll respond to you next whenever I feel like it. According to the internet, what you’re doing is called ‘sealioning’… I believe it (I just learned something myself, haha)
    BG is broken, I won't touch it.
    Zero sense of match making. I was new to PvP and taking a look and having my team get 0 points and smashed every session pretty much killed any interest I had.
    Not sure of the fun of smashing noobs but there you go. Not their fault; they didn't get ask to get matched with us but a weird way to try to get people into PvP. That's a whole lot of Nope...
    I'm not telling that they are the same think. But you don't won't to understand because you are just afraid to lose your 100% WW god.
    Don't worry your WW isn't going anywhere as you.
    Yes, WW should on the right conditions have 100% uptime because it is very different than a Goliath (that still a cool necromancer having access of all its skills, passives and skill lines) and a vampire (that have skills while not transformed, and its transformation gives 10k H/M/S and other massive bonuses)
    Fyi, Berseker have a very hard time to keep 100% uptime, so not all WW can maintain it easily
