Erm ... you know a lot of the writing staff just got laid off, right?!Nomadic_Atmoran wrote: »Finally I will touch on the rewards. These are just bad. Given how little effort was put in to creating engaging new content though. I am not surprised. Low tier story, low tier quest, low tier rewards.
On that particular note:
"Each Favor completed grants a reward coffer with rewards from base game zones associated with the Alliance of the client character. The contents include curated set gear, chances for antiquity leads and furnishing plans, and more. Improved coffers are available at the tenth and twentieth quests completed, and these milestones also award Unformed Planar Keys that may prove useful later in Season One (hint hint!)."
It's a push to make life easier for new players. There is a lot of content for newbies, and things like this lessen the load. Is it great for long-time players? For some, not for all, but we've yet to see what the improved coffers drop.
Edit: Let me also point out the alternative was a new zone, with delves and world boss dailies and gear sets nobody is going to use. So what's the actual loss? What rewards would you have liked to have seen? Feedback isn't just complaining you also have to give recommendations and solutions to be effective.

People valued new zones for more than dailies and whatever gear sets they had.
But given recent events it's not like it's something I'll expect in the future.
it's already shaping up to be larger then a Chapter story

You seem to be playing a different game?!?
For me, the biggest challenge were the lacking / messed up quest markers. Sneaking through a room - OK - but now what? Where to go?
QC fail, I'd say.
After all, the story lasted for maybe a day of gaming. (Started when released, played for 2 hours or so and finished next day... At least no door problems for early starters.)
I can knockout an entire Chapter, 100% map discovery, all WBs, Delves, PDs, Zone Story and all achievements excluding the 30 day daily ones in less than 6 hours. Zone Chapter is usually around 2 hours of that.

I'm halfway through and on a good hour and a half.
Edit: A DLC will take me less than 4 hours, just for some added context.

I'm struggling to see how this rushing tactic has anything to do with enjoying the game.

That's nice for you. I fail to see why not gobbling up new content is enjoyable.
Fun Fact: People are different
And none of that changes the underlying point about the size of the story.

Exactly! Just like the night market and a new trial and veterancy it’s all aimed for specific types of players!
People expect everything to be scaled exactly how they want it and it’s just wrong 🤷♂️
As for the rewards… you can literally get leads that are extremely annoying to grind for so I find these boards really good

I would have preferred richer stories with acting too, but then the Freerunners were never going to be story quests. They were designed to be fetch quests with some flavour. And if one doesn't like some of that flavour, that is a personal taste issue. I personally really, really dislike characters like Sheo and Raz, but I guess it takes all kinds, doesn't it?

It doesn't make sense why these important, busy people are writing about themselves or their military regrets to a stranger, and the topics seem pretty random. I think the topics and progression could be better to make more sense, like the hireling mails.
I must be easy or something, but both Holgrunn and Urcelmo's letters (so far) made them feel like actual feeling human characters. Holgrunn's comment about drinking with the guards because its better than being alone. Urcelmo talking about the difficult choices one gets to make in war. Those touched me.
Arabelle can take a long walk off a short pier though. She is as insufferable as ever.

That was my whole point. That any poor writing or story choices for the Favors can't be blamed on the layoffs because this content was written before they happened. We know part of the writing staff was let off but we don't know how many in relation to who's left because we have no idea how big the writing staff was. All if thieves guild was completed before lay offs, this is irrelevant.

I don’t think we should blame the writers, these were probably done by AI. It’s hard to find videos on YouTube that don’t have AI voices and a lot of the videos themselves are done by AI. It’s everywhere. One of my doctor’s offices sends me an automated voice message where the AI tells me to bring my photo Idaho (aka ID) with me when I go.

Do you have any evidence that it was AI? Its not like the writers had a ton of work to do here. The amount of content that they rolled out and will roll out here in the coming month is not exactly a ton of work writing wise. What exactly are these writers doing if not writing for these quests and the mail correspondence?
