Nowhere keys ?

    Hey all!

I wanted to clarify my statement from yesterday's stream because I misspoke and apologize. The keys will begin dropping once Season 1 begins with the Thieves Guild launch. I got my dates mixed up with Update 50 Dropping but Season 1 not starting yet and wanted to clarify.

For the love of Zenithar, can we synchronize the Update release dates and the Season start dates? I find it annoying that these dates are not aligned because we have been conditioned since 2014 to expect new content when a new update arrives. We had the latest update released on June 8 but the vast majority of content within the update does not toggle on until July 8 or later. As such, the updates feel underwhelming since there is so little new stuff when they arrive and it's worsened by the poor communication that almost never tells us that the stuff we reviewed on the PTS does not go live when the update arrives. These problems would be eliminated if the dates were synchronized. I don't expect that to happen because ZOS seems to prefer having new content to go live every single month instead of all of once with the update.

I guess I'm seeking better communication from ZOS on all of this. Maybe a new approach or moniker is needed for the updates since they are no longer truly quarterly given all of the items not going live on update release day. At the very least could we have pinned social posts and banners on the forums telling us when this stuff is going live? When are the dynamic encounters being released? When is the Sheogorath content arriving? What about rumors and the job boards? It's impossible to find this info which we were told was included in Update 50. I should not need to be forensic detective to uncover this information.

C/P and slightly edited from here.

Please communicate better for WHEN specific things go live. Even an actively updated Grid on the News page would do, with a pointer to it IN GAME. A QR code or bit.ly link would work fine.

Things I, personally, have seen confusion from people about when things are released:
    Dynamic encounters available
Nowhere keys (although that was a mispeak in the dev stream, still, confusion).
Motifs dropping from heists (me, that was me.)
Glenumbra furnishing drops (this too, this was me) available
    Thieves Guild Armory leads available
    New Thieves guide questline available
    Sheo's Mortal Day questline available
    U51 starting
    Season 1 starting
    Zeal of Zenithar starting
    Night Market ending
    Nowhere Vault available
When each class update is happening. That's a huge one. Not debating or wanting to change the order, just roughly* when each will be done and in what order. Yes, there's a graphic. And that's great. How long does it take to find that graphic?

I mean, that's everything that's been scheduled for the last few months, or coming out in the next few months, right? All sources of confusion. There's great stuff in there! But people are missing things, or standing around in Auridon for an hour waiting for an encounter that won't start for a month.

I re-read the news articles multiple times on a few of those things, and still got the answers from Youtube.

The communication has vastly improved. This would improve it significantly more.

*We know it's subject to change.

    Class Refreshes
    https://youtu.be/Bg3gcsstoXk?t=2215&si=mOjAP0Xrx5eXxaFj
36:50 minutes into the January 7 livestream they showed the Class Refresh order and had an image for it.
And it should simply be updates 51-56 unless they do extra things similar to Werewolf in 2027 (56 would be the q4 update in 2027.
    gipdo9sqykob.jpg

    season 1 start
Season 1 starts on July 8, we have known this since January 7.
Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk will be the first of its kind and officially launch on April 2, 2026, and runs until July 8, 2026.
    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/69137
from the Seasons intro post, which also has this useful image.
    dax16oz20vz7.jpg
And for future seasons it is simple to assume they will start in early January, April, July, October every year on Wednesdays.
Zeal of Zenithar ends right when Season 0 ends and Season 1 starts, High Seas of Tamriel and New Life Festival will likely end when Season 2 and 3 start respectively.

u50 patch notes and season 1
The update 50 patch notes mention some stuff:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/693682/update-50-live-patch-notes-all-platforms
    - New Thieves Guild Questline
Thieves Guild Questline will be released as part of Season One, on July 8th.
    - Favors will be released as part of Season One.
    - Sheogorath Takes a Holiday
Sheogorath Questline will be released as part of Season One.
    - Dynamic Encounters (Season One content)
Dynamic Encounters will be released as part of Season One.
next week's July Survival Guide should have exact dates for these.

    Events
ZOS started having events start and end on Wednesdays at the start of this year with Mayhem in January:
    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/69275
Warriors, prepare to take up arms! Whitestrake’s Mayhem returns to Tamriel this Wednesday, January 21 at 10AM EST, and will run until February 4 at 10AM EST.
Zeal of Zenithar's timeframe was on the Season 0 roadmap since April.
    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/69629
    yzlmcdyv8mof.jpg
ZOS also added a useful page that has the Monthly, Seasonal, and Yearly roadmaps that has been updated each month and will also likely be updated on or after July 8 when Season 1 starts.
    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/roadmap

    miscellaneous
    - Glenumbra furnishing plans drop at a super low drop rate.
    - Daggerfall Heists are available on July 8 with the new story.
    - Nowhere Vault is in update 51.
    - update 51 pts now being moved from July 6 to July 27 likely means the live release is in mid September instead of the 31 August date.
    - Night Market ending was also announced on January 7 in the Seasons post, it is in the roadmap image i posted too. Not to forget it has been in-game in the Tamriel Tomes starting page.

i think that it could be helpful if ZOS made a pinned thread on the forums with links and images like these and regularly updated it.
But i also think people can know these things by keeping up with the news posts and sometimes going back to old videos or news posts to refresh their knowledge.
And it is recommended for people to pay attention to pts cycles so they are aware of what is definitely in an update 2 months before the update releases.

    Antiquity
Thieves Guild armoury station leads are available from Glenumbra Thieves Troves and Hew's Bane Heists. Heists are a more reliable source as you do not compete with other players nor need to wait for Trove respawn.
this forum post was made during u50 pts cycle for antiquity leads:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/691366/update-50-antiquity-leads-sources
However now UESP has sources listed on the Antiquity page already:
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Thieves_Guild_Armory_Station

    edited to add
every new month we get a new Survival Guide, i mentioned it but it seems useful to note these Guides include dates for the important things.
Events, Season content, release dates of updates when relevant.

Oh, crimany, @LunaFlora I am so sorry. I should have made clear that I had figured out everything in the list. Those are just confusions I've seen in my guilds, guild chat, and the two I had myself that I tracked down the answers to. I totally didn't mean to make anyone do all that work. But thank you anyway. That must have taken quite a while.

Now, I wish ZoS would do that on an easy to find website, and update it regularly.

it is fine and i did think you knew most things already, it did not take me long as i have made similar comments before since January 7.

Still thought it could be useful for other people and to i guess demonstrate what ZOS could do.

The fact that ZOS employees themselves get confused about what releases when shows that better communication and/or overviews like yours are necessary.

Does anyone have any info where these are supposed to drop? 5 hours of grinding treasure chests, thieves troves and safe boxes yielded nothing.
I hope that's beacuse they drop elsewhere and not beacuse of their rarity..

Have done about 30 boxes, when I looked on tome page it said I had 2 but I never saw anything that said where or how I got them. Doesn't matter I deleted all Thieves quest after spend a whole wasted on them. Good Luck, everyone I'm going back to playing other normal game quests.

I'm wondering if the keys start dropping after reaching a certain quest in the Daggerfall Thieves Guild quest line...? It'd be pretty confusing to acquire Nowhere Keys with almost 0 context about what they are or what they open.

Similar to Luminous Ink. They started dropping after certain stages in the Scribing quest line

    Edited for grammar.

They aren’t called nowhere keys yet , look for “planar key”

I play on both PCNA & PCEU, and I have finished the Thieves Guild questline on both servers. Not a single key (of either name) on either server, even with activities done after finishing the questline. Some clarity on drop rates and triggers would be helpful.

Kevin I believe has stated this is going to be forwarded to folks tomorrow, because they aren't supposed to be this rare and they're supposed to come from all variety of activities according to what Jason said.

When they DO drop, they're called Unformed Planar Keys right now. They likely won't be called Nowhere Keys until the Vault goes live.

I'd speculate that these keys are supposed to be really rare at this time so that the playerbase isn't already armed to the teeth with fistfuls of keys the moment the Nowhere Vault goes live. Likely to be upgraded from rare to uncommon/not-so-rare drop once it does.

Nah, they're supposed to be dropping fairly frequently. Jason said they aren't supposed to be rare to begin with, they want people to have a good amount of Keys saved up for when the Vault goes live.
