It's not meant to be farmed. There is already entirely too much farming. As this new Dynamic Encounter system hopefully expands and becomes permanent it will increase overall player activity and is especially exciting for new players. It is not good for the game when people farm everything in 1 day and then log off to go play another game. The people who should be most rewarded are the people playing this one. Even Vet players like myself who have full sticker books and things shouldn't be farming this out then becoming stagnant.

These Dynamic Encounters are good content for Group and Solo players. It reminds me of the system in Fallout and it can really be a lot of fun once the ball gets rolling. I hope to see them expand a lot of new things so there is a lot more to accomplish and activities that require things to be in the long run, not farmed out in 24 to 48hrs.

This new type of event is confusing.

My suggestion is to add the event in the Group Finder, so you can que like for a dungeon, and be teleported to the zone a few minutes before it starts. This way you can do it easy if you want.

I really doubt people will be camping these events after the unique drops will be collected.

Yes, they were different for every instance. I remember travelling from instance to instance through my trade guild member list to look for events that would start in a few minutes. The only issue was that sometimes, these timers seemed to have been bugged.
It's not meant to be farmed.

It was announced as a new content type, so I think it's natural that people are curious and want to have a look at it now (and I guess many also want the achievements).

I think everything that somehow makes it harder for people to participate in a new activity (as in: not being able to even join in or to start it) - like having to camp at a location for half an hour, not knowing when it will ever start - is a design problem. It doesn't leave a good first impression. Some people might lose interest.

Its an MMO... everything is meant to be farmed. Most progression in eso is farming.

If its not meant to be farmed then the achievements and skill styles I want wouldn't be linked to it.

Zos delivers another snooze fest. I guess everything can't be as awesome as the Night Market, but that content, which was the most exciting thing I can remember in years, left me wanting and expecting more.

Run from encounter to encounter in the zones. It could just be a coincidence, but it seemed last night like they were popping, and when one encounter was done, the next one would pop up. God 3 encounters done in probably a little under 30 minutes with very little downtime between them. They were actually kinda fun. I would have done more if it wasn't late in the evening and I was trying to finish RE 2 Remake.

This is what I'm finding as well. For me at least today (currently) on PC EU:
    - the stonefalls one seems to start around the hour
    - the auridon one starts about 10 past
    - the glennumbra one starts about 20 past
They all repeat this every 30 mins. I'll have to test this again tomorrow to see if it's consistently like this, but that's been my experience so far with the dynamic event timings.

This is another one of those things that once the new shiny wears off, people will be begging for help to finish them.

People have been begging for werewolf colors for ages, so the fact that we're finally getting them (once a day) from the Stonefalls one means it's gonna be swamped until people farm all of those bones (and they're sellable, so I can see people making bank on those as well). The vampire one in Glenumbra also drops the fragments for a scion style so people will be into that, but that hasn't gotten as much hype as the wolf colors, and there's nothing really special unique to the Auridon one so it'll quiet down the fastest.

They occur every 30min or so and are not meant to be spammed back to back.

This. "Dynamic Encounter" by its very nature means something you stumble upon randomly, not something you farm. Your not meant to sit there for 30 minutes.

But right now, these go so fast, you can't catch them unless you wait. Also if you need to farm them for say leads, keys, etc, would be nice to have a timer.

"Stumbling" is a nice concept, but we all know that doesn't happen until like 2 years after content is released.

It probably won't be too long before someone makes or edits an existing addon to track when and where the Encounters are going to spawn next.

Would that work given how many different instances are in the game?
I actually can't say if it would matter or not. I'd assume all instances run on the same timer, because otherwise the game would have to keep track of different timers against a potential FLOOD of instances and I feel like that would cause performance issues. Because also things like Delve and WBs would all be on separate timers too if each instance has its own instead of the game overall just having a single universal timer.

It sounds like the NM had timers for something? Does anyone know if those differed between instances?

I can say with some certainty that it isn't the same start time for all instances. I was doing Stonefalls on PCEU earlier today and had a timer going for it. It started about 35 minutes after the previous one had finished. I had two other guildmates that zoned in when I told them it was starting, and they ended up in an instance of Stonefalls where the event was not happening. They had to wait another 5 minutes for that one to start.
Hmmm, I wonder if any addons made would then be able to use what API the game uses to track the time for each one in any given instance. If addon devs would have access to that part of the API anyway, it's very possible they couldn't, though I'm not sure why it would be blocked.

AS far as I can tell (re: search) there is no API call for Dynamic Event timing. IIRC the API calls
for dolmen etc were removed when the game started showing those on the map.

Oooof, does that mean there's no way to make an addon for it? I imagine since addons need access to any given part of the API to be made in the first place, a lack of API existing for any function effectively means there's nothing for an asson to grab info from.

From the sounds of it, it doesn't sound engaging to me. Don't even feel like logging on to try it.

if theres a lot of people there, it really isnt too engaging, in all 3 ive done, there were so many people there most enemies were dying on spawn without me even needing to participate lol

like others have said in this thread, the problem i have with them is there is no icon on the map to show where it starts and no timer to show how long until the next event starts

im hoping either zos or in the meantime and addon solution can happen that makes it easier to track of when its about to start

An additional problem, you can only see the icon that shows on the map if you are in the zone that it is spawning in. Which is crazy. If you want to catch one, you need to zone hop multiple times to even see if the event is currently active.

Then they should not link to achievements which require farming to achieve, in my opinion.

In reality when would players really be likely to have just randomly found these very specific locations with very extended respawn times?

Once players get the achievements I suspect this will become another redundant piece in the game

This was being discussed in zone chat today, and people agreed that once the achievements were done, they would be done with the encounters. As someone said, you only have to do each one 10x.

I don't mind the encounters themselves, but the lack of a timer makes them miserable, so I'll be done with them once I've got the achievements.

I also got a bounty again today while doing the vampire one. They need to remove whatever NPCs we're hitting. Why are NPCs in the middle of an ambush zone during this event?

With very bad luck and full waiting times of 30 minutes each for it to begin, that's 15 hours of just waiting.

I managed to do the horse one meanwhile, and it was a fun little event. I even got some fragment for a house. I think I really waited for half an hour, though - actually I had the impression it was even longer (I already suspected it to be bugged and that it wouldn't start at all).

If one is lucky and just comes across one while it's running, I think the whole concept is a nice little addition to overland content, but with a respawn time of half an hour and no countdown anywhere, it's not really fun. And no way am I going to wait 30 times for the achievements.

I bop around the three zones. If I find one where there's at least 10-15 people waiting, I'll stay. Even so, I had to wait almost 20 minutes at one of them this morning. I always read a book while waiting.

I like the way FO76 does these types of encounters. They trigger on a schedule when you enter the area and then a timer goes up that anyone in that instance can see on the map, what encounter, how much time is left and I think the progress (? Can't remember, its been a dogs age since I played 76).

That said, I like the dynamic encounters, I wish they'd be a little more "organic" is all.

Tbh I don't really see how these events are "dynamic encounters" at all because they are always spawning In the same static location and move in a set path. They're also not something you'll "stumble" upon unless you're literally going to that specific part of the map. I was under the impression they would actually be dynamic, not some predictable static "protect NPCs" event which is pretty lame.

Dynamic may be in reference to there being quest stages that move the event around the map, and/or that it’s not up all the time, and/or that it scales based on the amount of people.

Total disrespect of player time. they give players a "Baan Dar note" to chase/farm, then just have players Idling when they could be playing dungeons, PVP or any actual "Activity" (not counting those free runner and tome quests (porting to a hundred places or farming columbine isn't respecting the players time either)

Yes, I also spend the waiting time reading. It's a bit strange considering I logged in to actually play a game... My plan right now is to see each of these events once, and after that I guess I'll just wait until they - hopefully soon - implement a timer somewhere.

Personally, I'd prefer a timer on the map or zone guide. A pop-up showing up in the middle of the screen would be annoying as soon as I've done those events often enough to have all achievements. Especially when questing I don't appreciate random text blocking my view.
