Class mastery is not very good

Some classes are better than others and they make you play a certain way!!!

Some play styles will really be made better and others gain nothing or close to nothing.

Why base them on passives???

Class Masteries are extremely good, but yes, they aren't balanced and need work. Some classes like Sorc have very good ones while others don't.

I would like to see after the reworks each class get one mastery for each skill line of their base base class (or 1 for 2 and 2 for 3). It would give you a reason to choose a certain class over another as your base if you want to subclass and it doesn't nerf sub classing as hard for people who liked it.

They really shouldn't even need the masteries after the reworks are complete because they will do a good job at balancing the skill lines and making them naturally synergize better within the class like they did with DK.

Even before Masteries came out sub classing reworked DK felt extremely optional even as assassination and animal companion still exist with all their consolidated power - I doubt the animal companion skill line will get much better after the warden rework meant to balance the skill lines.

Class masteries will be adjusted with the class refresh over time.

Class masteries will be adjusted with the class refresh over time.

It's a bit dumb having to for example wait until next year's winter for NB class masteries to be adjusted since the class is rather unplayable in open world PvP right now other than ballgroup.

I don't know if the threshold for the scaling on the Nightblade's An Eye for Expoitation is just finicky, but I didn't see a difference in execute range. 2000 weapon/spell damage should be a significant increase in damage. Anyone figure out the breakdown with health? Is it 200 weapon/spell for each 10% missing health? Or does it not start scaling until 50% or 25% health? I wanted to change out using the Templar's Burning Light and Balanced Warrior for what seems like a crazy amount of weapon/spell damage, but ended up keeping my character subclassed, because it didn't seem to work?

Some of them are ok. These were long overdue and badly needed. At least there is some semblance of variety out there again. It would still be better just to remove Subclass. Get the Classes finished. Balance them and then start thinking about making more Classes.

It didn't work because of a few things:

    Regarding Templar:

    1. Doesn't have any skills that actually scale well with WD/SD. The skills that do are all outside of the class and located in subclassed skill lines.

    2. Templar loses the ability to have higher uptime on basic buffs if you get rid of subclassing

    3. Templar skills aren't really worth slotting. Again, goes back to (1). The masteries do not take into account what you have to give up to be a pure templar.

    Regarding NB:

    1. Similar problem with templar except the opposite problem: skills aren't actually reliable. What is meant by that? Well the range is bad, they're dodgeable, and they are not really great to cancel with outside of the ult. What it means is that the skills are actually looking strong on paper with passives, but then you can't actually...you know... execute damage with the skills because a majority of them are bad outside of one skill line. And that skill line has mostly dodge able skills.

    2. NB defensive masteries fail because the class' defense isn't actually utilized in the design of it. Just making the class about flat damage and cloak isn't cutting it when flexibility, buff uptimes, and variation in skill damage and timing is what makes a powerful build in PvP right now. Oh and status effects. The masteries simply do not take into account the current state of the game.

I, as a Nightblade main in Cyrodiil PvP since 2018, can say that NB mastery passives are complete garbage.

I'm a magicka caster Nightblade subclassing the Aedric Spear line ONLY for those two passives (Burning Light & Balanced Warrior). I'm not using any Templar abilities. The spammable I'm using is Elemental Weapon, which should scale really well with weapon/spell damage, but I wasn't seeing a difference. I can't really speak toward dodgeable or not, as I'm not a big pvp'er. I mean, some mobs do dodge, but not a significant enough of the time for it to be something to work around.

Of course some better than others some suit different play styles. Just like some classes and some races are better than others.

I for one love class masteries for sorc. All of them are cool and have their use cases. But my favorites are font of power, conservation of energy and static reverberation
