Season Tome Overflow - Questions and Suggestion

Hey,
at the time of me writing this post there are still 19 days left in Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk

I have now reached the point that I have obtained all possible rewards (including all Premium ones) and have more then 2000 tomes again on the bank.
(Note, i did not use any Tome-Caches)

I did not rush or particularly focus the challenges, simply re-rolled to have some that fit what i am doing in ESO and then the tome-points came naturally.

So I start with my questions:
  1. What happens to the tome points at the end of the Season? (An article stated that you will keep 2000 and the rest will be used to automatically get unclaimed rewards, but what happens when you have more than 2000 tome points and already got all rewards?)
  2. What happens with completed but unclaimed challenges at the end of the season? (Can I claim them in the new season to get a head start with my tome points or will they just vanish?)

Now to the suggestion-portion of this post.
This addresses the fact, that by now probably more and more player reach a similar situation that I am in now, which is their are nothing else do to in the season. And even if we would keep all our tome points and/or carry over the challenges.... this problem will just accumulate over the next seasons.

The probably obvious answer would be "gives us more rewards/pages", and while i generally agree that would be cool, there are two problems i see from the top of my head.... firstly, time the developers have to create more unique things like skill styles, outfit styles etc will be limited, and secondly, more people will start complaining about not being able to get everything they want.

So here my suggestion for a concept how this problem (got everything from the season) could be addressed:

in short: repeatedly claimable rewards for consumables and currencies with ramping up cost
what this means:
throughout the season pages also include consumables/ currencies, as they do now. (potions, gold, telvar, AP transmation crystals,....) Those can be claimed multiple times, but each time the cost increases. (linearly or exponentially). Maybe anything past the first buy can only be done after every collectible has been purchased.
Those consumables would be included in the basic part of the season, but if you have the premium one the reward could be enhanced (e.g. more for the same price or a less steep incline in price).
This way, even after obtaining every reward there is still an insentive to continue doing challenges. Also every player can chose what they need the most.

Let me know what you think. I am open for any constructive feedback. Maybe Zos ends up liking the idea and implementing it in future seasons @ZOS_Kevin
Also if there is an official thread for feedback to seasons which is more closely monitored by the devs, I would appreciate if you could link this post.
(I unfortunately didnt find it)

I know repeat purchases has been requested before and I definitely like that more than the idea that even if I purposely don't claim something, it will get auto-claimed at the end. This way, I could use my tome points to buy more of the things I find useful.

I don't love the idea of auto-purchase either.

I have left the poisons 'unclaimed' to see what happens at the end of the season, whether they will be auto-purchased or not.

The TP to gold conversion rate is nothing to write home about but however small the amount of gold is a lot more useful than those poisons to me.

You get gold. 10 gold per tome point.

You are not the first to suggest it, and you won't be the last.

The thing I find funniest is that when you unlock all pages you get double the challenges. Kill x 6 times turns into Kill x 12 times. Meaning you get even more tome points.

I love that ZOS didn't make it a grind for points, but it is getting a little silly now. I have 20k, nothing left to buy and what 3(?) weeks left?!

Are you sure that this comes with unlocking all pages?

I thought that was a change introduced with the latest game update (U50).

I can be mistaken, but I definitely had all pages unlocked at least a week or two before the aformentioned update and I only noticed the increased tome amount (amount per challenge and increase number how often it can be claimed) only after the update.

I expected as much but could find any discussion. So i thought there isnt any harm in potentially repeating an idea. Maybe it even increases its visibility towards Zos.

Yes, unlocking all 12 Pages doubles the number of Challenges you can complete each week. It's to make sure people with the Premium Tome can unlock everything (since with the Free Tome it takes more to unlock everything than it does to buy it) and it also means people can keep earning Points if they care about the Gold after the auto-claimer.

Which I, along with many others, also don't like. What's the point in letting us choose what we want to buy if the auto-buyer will just grab it anyway? I know it's for times when people can't log in for whatever reason to claim "big" things themselves, but I didn't want the Style Pages. Still had to buy 'em because the auto-claimer would have done it. They should have included an opt in for people to decide if they want to use it or not. Have it on by default even but give us the choice.

And yeah, a whole slew of us have said to give us things we can purchase repeatedly. Either make all the Consumables on each Page repeatable or just the stuff on the Bonus Pages. They could even make them have ramping costs (within reason, NOT like how they did ramping cost for Gold Rerolls).

    @ApoAlaia
The auto-claimer iirc won't take things like Potions, it grabs stuff like Mounts, Costumes, and Style Pages.

I also am not a fan of the auto-claimer. I paid for the upgraded tome but I don't want the pet or mount. I'd rather just have more gold than clutter I'll never use.

I know a pet and 2-seater mount is probably worth more than 15K gold, but for me it's just an annoyance with negative value as I have to scroll through even more stuff now.

But the Premium Tome is forever there. So in 489732392 years time, someone who has some spare tome points can still buy things from Season 0 tome.

Not only that, but I had nothing left to buy 3 weeks ago. So, it's not like not getting enough tome points was ever a danger for someone who completed the weekly challenges, which you'd expect them to do if they'd paid real money for the Premium.

    The change makes zero sense.

Mmmm that's a good point about the Paid Tome being there for good. And like I said even for the Free Tome, you get more Points than you need from unlocking the Pages. Maybe it's more for people who want Points for Gold?

Anyone who's seen my post history knows I'm not happy with this system.

I can see where infinite carryover wasn't doable. I disagree, because I just don't care about engagement incentives to that degree, but I can at least see where they're coming from.

But here's where they really dropped ball IMO.
    1. They didn't respond to any suggestions in actual conversation.
    2. They didn't entertain alternatives like an increased rollover.
    3. They decided to spend development on cycles on a gold-conversion system.
    4. Said gold-conversion system has a low payout ratio, which again went against feedback here and Reddit.
    5. They haven't added infinite renewable items like potions or heaven-forbid something valuable like Seals or Trade bars.

It's just aggravating that they're so focused on engagement incentives that player agency takes a back seat. For me, this was their biggest mistake this year.

If there are no collectibles left to purchase, then points in excess of 2K are converted to gold at a 10g:1point ratio

They should just sit there until claimed. Seasonal challeges will disappear at the end of the season, but weeklies are weeklies. Note that the final "week" of the current Tome is about two days (reset on Tuesday until 10am EDT on Wednesday) and the first "week" of the next will be whatever remains until the next Tuesday reset. I don't think ZOS has specifically said what will happen with the weeklies, but we'll either get new rerolls (up to five) and weeklies (up to 12) on Wednesday or Tuesday's will just continue until the next Tuesday.

Repeatables on the bonus pages would be a nice solution to avoid the 10:1 conversion, but I think another fix would be to have sufficient purchases on the free tier so that the bonus page unlock roughly equals the amount of stuff to buy on the free tier plus 2000. The current tome's free tier required about 5K more Tome Point to unlock than there was stuff to buy. Toss in the gold conversion at the current 10:1 and unlocking the bonus pages on the free tier gets you almost 30K gold with 2K carrying over. There are a couple of bits on the free tier which the autoclaimer won't buy, so 30K is ballpark, not exact.

I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I personally find it a lot worse that the auto-claimer gives us collectibles, because my collectibles screen is already so cluttered with stuff, I find it hard to scroll through looking for what I want. The absolute last thing I want is more undeletable items.

At least if they put unwanted potions and scrolls into your inventory, those can be deleted.

The doubling only applies to tome challenges you obtain after you unlock the bonus pages and were given after update 50. If you had some in your queue from before then, they are not doubled.

So how this will work with future tomes is that once you get the bonus pages unlocked, at the next Tuesday when new tomes are assigned, those 5 will have double the opportunity. If you are already at 12 when this occurs you will need to clear those out before you can access the doubled ones.
