Hang on, Zos did not simply update the standard breton furnishings? They released the reskinned furnishings as a second set?
Since Gold Road, ZOS have had a ~100% chance on a 1st iteration lead dropping from source on first attempt. Yet, I'm now on kill 3 and no lead. In addition, I did a Heist, that also resulted in no lead. So that leaves 3 possibilities:

It glows with a faint blue light, if that is any consolation. Hard to see unless you place it somewhere not too brightly lit.
That hasn't been my experience. Just last week, I finally got the last fragment for a mythic that took at least 10 kills, maybe a few more - the first iteration for this mythic. I think the 100% thing is luck and/or anecdotal.

Which Mythic? The ~100% is not anecdotal. There are however a couple of outliers.

Don't remember the mythic, but remember the lead. It's the one that drops from secret bosses in Graven Deep.
I'm currently actively working on the codex. I have quite a few leads (mythic and non-mythic) that I'm at 0/3 for, and that did not drop for me on the first iteration. Based on my experience, the first iteration does seem to have better RNG than the second and third, but not 100%.
Esoteric Greaves. Was a Necrom release, so it won't have the ~100% drop on 1st iteration.
The ~100% only came in with Gold Road. Anything prior to that is (for bosses) a 5 - 10% drop rate.
So, U50 added 5 furnishings from Antiquity Leads. 4 single pieces and a multi-piece being 9 leads in total. I'm currently camping the a WB in Glenumbra for one of these leads. I've killed it 3 times and so far no lead.

- My information on source is wrong (highly unlikely)
- Antiquity Leads are not Live yet (Other's have got some)
- ZOS changed the drop rate
So, let me get this right. After years of us complaining about lead drop rates, ZOS decides to revert to an older (worse) drop rate ... Why?
There is a vast difference between a grind and outright wasting player's time. An excessive grind can turn into the latter, but having to stand around for 5 minutes waiting for a boss to respawn over and over is outright wasting player's time.
I'm going to keep this civil, but I'd very much like to hear ZOS' thinking on this. After which, I cannot promise my tone will remain quite so measured.
OK. So I think I know what ZOS have done. They have indeed removed the ~100% chance on 1st iteration, but they have massively increased the drop rate overall. @ZOS, you really need to communicate these changes to players. It helps us plan how we spend our time.
If I am right and it's a boost to drop rates overall, great but you need to tell us, and you need to fix the older antiquity drop rates to bring them inline. Especially 2nd iteration and above, and especially on treasure maps.
Why not simply publish the drop rates? It's not commercially sensitive and would go a long way to appeasing the concerns of the dedicated codex community.

I just noticed your thread.
As for the newly added Leads (Window of Divinity, Zenithar Devotional Stele), I must have been incredibly lucky because both of these dropped for me on the first try on all my Codex entries. 3x WB in Glenumbra = every kill = Lead, and same for 3x Red Petal Bastion = last boss kill was Lead drop. So, on the contrary, I thought that ZOS had made it so that not only is the first drop almost guaranteed, but the other drops for 2/3 and 3/3 codex entries are as well.
But ofc, my experience at the Thieves Guild Station was different from the two things I mentioned above. So...
