What stereotypes do you have towards others in game?

Well as the tank yes, I have weak damage and I do not move super fast. The real feelsbad is when I end up somehow doing more damage anyways lol.

I remember a content creator testing this couple years ago, keeping track of who said "hi" in PUGs and the performance of all the groups he joined.
Collected an amount of data and I think those who said "hi" were performing better on average.

People started saying: if you want to improve your DPS say "hi", it's META.

Good or bad, I'd take friendly underperformers over irritable people who parse higher in most situations. Long as you can clear the content.

Yeah. I just had a pug VLC with a very rude co-healer who was singling me out literally the moment I ported in because I wasn't a pure warden. So I just muted my mic (didn't leave voice comms because he wasn't in them and wanted to hear call outs) and mostly ignored chat unless there was a particularly big commotion because knew instantly this dude was just awful. He wanted a good guild tier run from a pickup group and was mad that it wasn't working out that way.

It was fairly fast despite a couple of wipes but that's exactly the type of run that makes me not want to join guild groups. I'll take longer runs from pickup groups that are learning things and thus slower but more pleasant over that type of run any time. I was actually relearning healer that run but had multiple successful clears as a DPS of that trial.

Anyway, that leads me to another stereotype. I avoided headache by not paying much attention to chat. But if there's someone in party critiquing minor things like race or class in a PUG, I assume that person is probably going to be a jerk the rest of the time and promptly ignore them. I haven't had the same issue with guild group coordinators asking the same questions so I don't think they are inherently toxic. There's nothing wrong with trying to optimize but there's a time and place.

Sorry you had to deal with that. I hate when people start with a bad attitude and it says a lot about how they will act until you are done having to be around them.

Funny it was another healer; which brings me to another stereotype that regrettably was not true here. Typically I view healers and support players as having patient and helpful personalities and that clearly is not all of them.

I don't see many stereotypes associated with chosen race or class, per say, but I will say...

Stonefalls zone chat is where a very specific type of players hang out... I avoid that place if I can.

Rift/Riften is where all the roleplayers are for some reason. Rimmen is where the furries hang out.

Within Cyrodiil/Imperial City, DC players tend to act like bullies. EP I feel is slightly more respectable as an opponent when they aren't being DC's pet or balling resources in a stalemate all day (just take the keep for more AP my dudes). AD players tend to be the most casual and uncoordinated, but generally larger in population.

Haha. I remember one topic on the forum, where users discussed what the experienced players tell groupmates in PUGs.
Among "explaining the tactics", "considering the buffs" etc. one good sir said kinda "Real experienced players in PUGs usually say 'Hi' at the start, say 'Thank you for the run' at the end, and simply do their fair job in between".
I loved it, and I try to keep to this scenario for years. idk, it just sounds cool :)

If they sit in the imperial sewers at an opposing factions doorstep, they probably have a neckbeard, haven't showered in a week, and can often be heard in the wilds screaming "Mom, Hotpockets!".

My dumbness and inexperience in PvP makes me assume they are the Pro ones and when the match starts I follow them... To inevitable death. It's there I realize they are probably just iperactive kids.

Another "stereotype" I have in my head is that gamers are all 16yo, and me too (no, I'm definitely not anymore), and I convince myself of that reading their gamer tags... Then I look at the photos in profile pictures and they are 40+yo, which btw checks out with the average TES fan.

I have a list of stereo types in this game:

    - When I see HA (Heavy Attack) players in dungeons or trials, I think they are lazy players who don’t want to put the time into getting better at the game, choosing instead to find a quick route to doing damage. And the sad thing is, they are not doing any good damage because they use the build incorrectly.

    - Whenever someone complains about add-ons, I always think they are afraid of getting called out for doing low damage in trial groups. Instead of getting better and putting in the effort, they want to ban or remove certain add-ons so they can still join trial groups without having to put in any effort.

    - Whenever I see players complaining about gatekeeping, I think they are just bad or lazy players who want a free ride instead of pulling their own weight. The moment you say that they can also host their own trial group with their own rules, they go silent and just hop to other comments that agree with them.

Low level PvE players are often examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect. The night market was rampant with them and they often make random normal dungeons a nightmare.

I think female Bosmer characters heavily outnumber male ones, and such a disparity doesn't seem to exist for other races.

Have you ever tried to make a male Bosmer character look normal? They all wind up looking... inbred.

I immediately look at outfits and names.

If I see you are wearing an outfit/costume that shows a lot of skin with a trial skin, I just assume you only care about content.

If you have a roleplayer friendly name with an outfit that looks like it blends together well, I assume you are a roleplayer.

I assume you are a freak if you have a female companion active with a bikini outfit.

People who main EP probably only picked the faction because Nords were the main race in TES V: Skyrim and Dark Elves were the main race in TES III: Morrowind.

Imperials in ESO don't belong to any one particular faction so TES IV: Oblivion isn't really contributing much.

Most people citing the Dunning-Kruger effect misunderstand it and apply it incorrectly, ironically demonstrating the effect themselves.
