Regardless, I'm still being hit for 17k whips, etc. which even that video is showing you. Along with up to 10k CoE, Flames, etc. in addition. You're downplaying the issue at hand when you take off 8-10k off the biggest whip there and it's still incredibly substantial.

He’s a properly built DK with a small comped group giving him buffs while he has EMP. You’re supposed to get hit extremely hard by that.

Dk is strong, but you can’t act like there’s DKs running around with 40k+ health hitting you that hard. There is probably no other scenario in the game where you would take that much damage from a DK while on that werewolf.

I functionally understand how emp buff and/or having an emp buff build works (trade all health away for stam/mag). You missed this part:

"I'm going off what's happening. I had no idea that dude was an emp b/c I'm literally having my health bar depleted (not dying... depleted) on the regular by DKs."

or the multiple videos I reciprocated to @hoangdz showing DKs v x'ing (not like it's mathematically difficult to understand how they're doing it regardless)

Also, I wasn't trying to 'hide' anything other than the name which I assume I'm supposed to do for forum rules. If I actually cared I wouldn't have drawn that blue line on the first grey box or missed the 'T'. You're welcome to not believe me there but it being scrappily censored should be pretty obvious. That in addition to the fact my first post I had placed without any censors not thinking as I legitimately was taken back by that damage.

What react described as building super tanky in another thread to me was an average cyrodiil build and is probably why pulse gankers rarely one hit me alone, takes several or more at once to do that and usually its a lucky hit. Can probably count on one hand how many times thats happened.

At least heart of fire requires a cast whereas warden jellyfish was just free sustain plus the passive boost and worked as long as you had it up. Subclassed builds were far stronger than pure dk, people just didnt see it that way because the new dk was everywhere due to being new. Itll be the same with ww, and it is the same with pulse ganking, I already see less and less of them every day.

I can tell you from experience that heart/soul of flame will not heal or sustain you at all when fighting a Zerg. The animation alone slows you down when you are trying to kite and if you think you’re just going to stand your ground and hold block I’ve seen even the tankiest dedicated tanks get worn down eventually. Everyone talks about core of flame and its morphs being op honestly sound like they don’t know what they are talking about and are just regurgitating rhetoric they seen or heard online. Much like learned language models that teach ai how to think and speak. The fact is words like “op” and “broken” are typically used in build videos as click bait. But every now and then you do get some truly unbalanced broken stuff that gets released, like upper end of WW builds, pulse gankers, status effect builds. There’s nothing inherently wrong with these types of builds existing they just need to be toned down like the dk was recently. See, most dk’s can admit and agree that our class needed to be toned down a bit. But none of the ww mains on here can do that. Why? And all of the people still complaining about dk’s are not acknowledging that our main hard cc was nerfed big time. But we adapt as should everyone else when their crutch gets nerfed too.

Trust me, I know and I agree, but you'll find yourself at odds with @hoangdz if you say this lol.

about heart of flame specifically. Im a dk main not a werewolf main.

Heart of Flame is a busted ability that allows so many things a normal sustain skill would not. This is objectively a fact and you can prove this with simple theorycrafting in game.

Quite a bit different compared to the 45-50k HP WW doing more damage than you can heal primarily through dots, light attacks, and status effects with zero counterplay, whilst being entirely unkillable.

You tagged me in one of your earlier posts and linked 4-5 videos featuring DKs in PvP. Yes, I know how broken DK is, but that class has had plenty of its own threads, including several of mine:

However, I also know that WW is more broken at the moment, so my current focus is currently on this spec instead.

I dont think anyone is claiming DK is balanced lol, even Im not sayin that lmao. Im just saying that we're in a transition state and zos should stick to their guns for once and finish the process before they start balancing. Thats the whole purpose of masteries also, so they can make quicker changes to address balance issues. So if they think ww is too strong, instead of nerfing them they can buff classes that dont run them like arcanist with masteries. If they start nerfing ww after all the work they did to rework them theyll have to start nerfin dk next, and sorcs, and all this before they even get the second actual class out the door.

The skill gives the equivalent of something like 1,500+ magicka AND stamina recovery, heals for double what vigor does per tick around the 37k HP threshold, and allows you to pick up 3-4k max magicka and stamina as the max stats provide more sustain than haunch's regen does due to HOF. And it is a 3-6k delayed AOE burst to boot. And an interrupt.

Netch gives 400 regen equivalent of one resource, a small situational damage modifier, brutality, and a single effect purge.

The two things are not remotely comparable.

youre right, because netch is infinite cleanse and always working even when stunned and doesnt require an active cast and continuous rotation.

They're not comparable, no. And yet every other subclassing build using this and the passive for instant increase to your sustain on top of netch is why many players have stopped playing and why zos saw fit to give dk something that puts it on par with those subclassed builds. Without that skill dk wouldnt be able to compete with them, werewolf, pulse gankers, and probably not warden either, and I'd still be subclassing dk

Judging from how many people came back for the dk refresh vs how many left after subclassing was introduced, I think we know what people would rather put up with, with the promise of further class refreshes undoing the damage subclassing introduced.

Hey- that's you! Except you saying 3 GCD is deceptive when you mean in reality you mean all the damage landing in 1-2 GCDs.

    Quick context for your context.

    Onslaught- 1 GCD

    Incinerate- already casted way before

Heart of flame (woah, is this a bi-sustain move and a burst move in one???)- casted up to 4 seconds prior

Igneous (someone remind me... is this a 60 second damage ability?)- casted WAY before

Molten whip- 1 GCD, of course casted IMMEDIATELY after onslaught as onslaught is channeled and leads into the next GCD

Like a 17k whip is remotely miraculous.

    ///

    Your build (if accurate):

-shadow (healing, your buddy literally complained about this)
-3 offensive blue CP (this isn't uncommon and becomes fully moot in BGs where whips still hit HARD)
    -orders wrath (healing)
-rallying cry (crit resist and many other very important stats)
    -major protection and minor vitality.

These completely exclude any skills just simply how you've built.

This is provably not unique (as in high whip damage with everything landing in 1-2 GCDs) as I have collected a few videos already (I suppose not that 'True' guy) where my health bar is noticeably dropping simply because a DK exists around me.

Good idea, bad execution. Ideas can only be as good as their executions though.
Heart of Flame is a busted ability that allows so many things a normal sustain skill would not. This is objectively a fact and you can prove this with simple theorycrafting in game.

it doesnt allow you to build sustain while stunned, you gotta be on the bar you have it slotted casting it and it only lasts a few seconds. Warden doesnt have that issue.

    Your opinions arent fact.

    1) Again, not an opinion. I base all my claims off of in-game data and mathematical numbers which can all be fact-checked by anybody.

    2) Using a very specific example where HoF doesn't perform well doesn't invalidate my argument. In fact, it would make my argument stronger because if you that same scenario to literally any sustain skill in the game, you're going to suffer the same drawback (i.e. Netch/Rune Focus falling off and you getting stunned before you can cast them, or getting interrupted mid Dark Deal cast). If I play by your argument, sure, Heart of Flame doesn't let you build sustain while stunned, but if you cast it before you get stunned, then it's still going to give you that regen tick.

    3) You are making the skill sound like it's worse than it actually is. It's not. First of all, Heart of Flame is restoring 15% of your max health every 2s over the course of 4s, ticking 3 times. This is the HoF's heal tooltip at 32.3k HP on my subclassed Sorc build in NO CP:

    lel80yqlkwbl.png

5169 HP every 2s and ticks 3 times. With Battle Spirit, that's a 2628 non crit heal and around 4.6k crit heal at 75% crit healing modifier

    jh6w8aehayb6.png
    whbqhjfj7n8m.png

The sustain part has already been covered in the past, so I'm not going to repeat it here.

Then it's also doing a delayed AoE burst. At 6345 WD and 34.7k stam, the tooltip of HoF is around 9478 damage

    2olfp29kfzfk.png

Just for comparison, my B4B spammable tooltip at those same WD and max stam values has a 10990 value. With this tooltip and full pen, I regularly hit people for ~7-8k crit B4Bs, so you can expect to hit people for at minimum 5k crit HoF in PvP with full pen.

For an ability that has an extremely strong HoT, god tier sustain, and a strong AoE burst, you can't possibly try to paint it as something that has some sort of drawback. It doesn't.

Next time everyone has time go watch some WW PvP montage videos on YouTube. This has to be the most thoughtless play style zos has come out with since heavy attack oakensorc pet builds. All I am seeing is light attack spam and howling to heal and sustain themselves. And that is what the player base wants as a competitive play style for PvP in eso? If so, that’s just wild to me. PvP used reward game play based on good positioning, timing and strategy. There is none of that if you watch WW gameplay. PvP has gone from 3d chess to checkers. It’s literally unga bunga, me smash, me howl, me smash, me eat, me repeat. It’s so bad I have people that I small scale with that have dropped it all together because they literally said they felt like all they were doing was smashing buttons. And they were on real meta builds. I have had zero interest in this play style since it’s been out and after watching a few build videos earlier I understand why it’s so broken. The skills are so loaded no other class comes close. It needs to be reworked so badly. Zos needs to start firing people because at this point on the current trajectory I don’t see how this ends well for those of us that actually enjoy competitive PvP gameplay. I think they’ve gone off the deep end in the names of inclusion and so called accessibility. People that want to PvP are going to PvP and those that don’t won’t. They need to pivot hard right and bring skilled gameplay back and reward those that choose the path less chosen. That path used to be classes like nightblades and the like that had high skill floor and equally high ceilings. Not so anymore. What gives Zos?

This is the clearest case of biaseness I actually have no words to describe it. You are literally trying very hard to convince yourself and other people that Netch is somehow better than HoF and that HoF is only "on par with subclassed builds".

Like, hello? Every build is subclassing Ardent Flame specifically for Heart of Flame because it is the most busted ability in the game that lets them chug armor pots for 5.3k extra armor, use Sugar Skull instead of Orzoga, deal an AoE delayed burst, and in U50, heal for MORE than Vigor, both of which Netch or Rune Focus could only dream of.

Seriously, I cannot understand this level of conscious biasness. It's absurd.

It doesn't.

10.9k on a tooltip spammable post the 1000 wep/spell 'fluff' damage they added a while back seems really low, I won't lie.

It's "low" because I don't all-in on 1 stat. I'm in 1 proc set (gorethief) and I have 127% crit damage, 40% crit chance, full pen, 34.7k stam, and 6345 WD in NO-CP. To push for higher WD, I would have to drop my crit chance and crit damage values, both of which would have yielded less reliability in my burst combo due to a lower probability of landing critical hits, as well as reduced survivability from less critical heals. Tl,dr: It's better to put your eggs in different baskets.

And yet every other subclassing build using this and the passive for instant increase to your sustain on top of netch is why many players have stopped playing and why zos saw fit to give dk something that puts it on par with those subclassed builds. its not bias its literally what zos themselves have stated their goal is with the class refreshes
If you disagree with that strat you should take it up with them lol but it sounds like you are ok with the state of the game after subclassing, which cool, but many of us are not and pretty much stopped playing after the release of it.

Nothings as broken as the game was after that with zero checks to the system. And clearly it had such a severe impact on the player base that zos decided it was more desirable to boost one class at a time and undermine the power of subclassing than simply keep it as is.

Thats something that shouldnt be ignored but regularly is in all of your threads.

Exactly what I’ve been saying, but people are impatient.

I've returned to play this game after years of break, and this situation where my new Arcanist is of the weakest class for PvP in ESO with an already weak and also bugged class mastery passive, and the BGs are literally filled with players playing the game with a totally different ruleset that favors them.. this all tells me that I should just quit for another two years.

This is not a nice feeling. I want to play.

Also I don't understand why rewriting some modifiers and adding effects takes two years for 6 classes. Are they such low on staff? Is ESO at the end of its lifecycle? Is it worth it to spend my time playing this game at all? These are the questions I have nowadays and BG after BG I'm just more sad.

1v1s are merely for practice or pure ego stroking, it has no bearing on the actual game itself. For instance people complaining about Heart of Fire being op, but when targeted by multiple people stun locking and hitting you, it alone aint saving you without a proper build to live through it, one that would seemingly help yall that think pulse gankers need the nerf.

Post a montage with of you Xing using only heart of flame to heal and sustain you if it’s so broken.

    Theory crafting < Practical application

Lots of thing look and sound good on paper or in theory. But like Mike Tyson once said “everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

I’m telling you as a dk main this skill will not carry you if you’re fighting against multiple good players with proper builds. It just will not happen. All of the Xing videos on yt are Jedi mind tricks. They show good players killing bad players that over extend and don’t understand positioning.

On the other hand, WW howl and the rest of their kit for that matter will absolutely without a doubt right now full carry a bad player on a meta ww build all day every day and twice on Sunday.

Buddy if you returned during subclassings introduction, as an arcanist pure class you wouldnt be any better off. They arent just rewriting things theyre reworking everything from the ground up, visually and how the classes play. Warden is next, the class masteries were added to alleviate the process. It was just added this patch for the first time, hopefully its used often to address issues

You are right though, they are short staffed, microsoft i believe enforced layoffs, they're half the staff they had prior. If I recall correctly.

Armor pots, the 5200 or so value was a generic buff given that mimics the old major resolve values. Even then, it didn't make sense and since then they have become more consistent in giving major buffs instead of unique values (there are more but the first thing that comes to mind is when they removed the 10k unique resists in favor of providing the generic major values instead)...

No, using just Hearf of Flame to heal and sustain won't help me tank 5 people. Neither will Conservation of Energy, which is slightly less broken than HoF but still in dire need of a nerf. Neither will everything else in the game except for Hircine's Fortitude.

That does not mean HoF is balanced. Both HoF and Conservation of Energy are the top healing abilities in a fight, surpassing both Vigor and Critical Surge. THAT is objectively imbalanced. How can you possibly sit here and defend an ability that heals more than Vigor, restores more resources than both Netch + Rune + Orzoga combined, and also deals AoE delayed damage?

This problem has only surfaced in U49 and U50 solely due to the fact that sustain has become trivialized. Not to say that sustain wasn't trivialized previously, but this level of free sustain is unprecedented. In the past, the only way you could realistically chug armor pots was with Clever Alchemist + 3x Infused potion cooldown glyphs + Argonian race. That was a gimmick specifically tied to that build. U49 and U50 completely broke that by introducing free sustain with HoF, Conservation of Energy, and WW.

ZOS doesn't need to nerf this potion. What they need to do is tone down the level of sustain post U49 reworks.

Well, respectfully I'm of the mind set this is both fully intentional and slated towards PvE.

I know you have provided viable suggestions for Core such dropping sustain to 5% missing or so on the 'burst' version so I at least believe you're being genuine with this perspective but I believe this is both not a standardized (and ergo exploitable) type of consumable and if they continue this trend that I believe they've purposely set, it should absolutely be done.

Good idea, bad execution. Ideas can only be as good as their executions though.

Cant really say until they're finished with the refreshes, which they themselves have said. You can argue that going one thing at a time isnt best, as many have said, but continually ignoring that is indeed their strat is disingenuous to the conversation

edited for my bad execution of quote mechs

I'd say we can say it because the future hasn't happened yet and there is no guarantee what will and what will not happen.

Again, I've said it in the PTS during the talk about inhale being changed, but I seriously doubt ZOS will introduce another skill like it because then it will be stackable with the current skill. That would be silly if two sustain skills that did damage existed. Both would be slotted no matter what. But there's the other idea that ZOS probably considers the skill a "rule-breaker" and they typically do not have more than one instance of a skill that breaks the rules.

Beyond that, there's the fact that the skill is available on live and the supposed skills that will compete with it haven't been unveiled or even exists yet. So how can we not say or criticize the changes?

It would be a different story if the roadmap actually gave insight into other changes and these were all completed for every class by the next patch, but that isn't the case. What we have now are two specific "classes" outperforming everyone else.

What ZOS stated is their goal doesn't matter and isn't a defense of what's on live until it materializes. ZOS states a lot of things, for example that patch note about WW claws changes. Did you read it? They used Dragonfire Breath as its "basis" and yet the skill is superior to it in every way. ZOS' own comment actually makes the case for both claws versions to get nerfed rather than validate it.

If that's the weight of ZOS' stated goals, then players should be commenting in opposition of the goal because it's not achieving what they want in reality and they need to know.

It would be super cute if heals stopped scaling with max health

Yep. As someone that heals all the time, every HP heal except dark cloak needs a look at. That includes polar wind. Max HP is too easy to stack and no heal should be scaling off of it IMO.

It's time to force some investment in healing and address people holding block all day while healing more than someone with an actually offensive-based build or healer + sustaining it and taking no damage. <-- That was needed a long time ago

The lack of a need to invest is what makes the heal stacking and shielding a problem in the first place.

And another thing is if we can get some HP% siege or more counters to HP stacking. They've over nerfed everything that countered it to the point that there isn't any real counter to stacking HP which is where the problem also lies.

Example: someone use an hp% heal, what damage in the game can reach it? Even 3-4x instances of DoTs cannot reach the value of HP% healing once they move past 40K. It's crazy how anyone on these forums are arguing that WW and HP healing in general doesn't need addressing. And the same people that argue that claim the problem is heal stacking?

They want one thing nerfed, but not what empowers them. Hopefully ZOS ignores it and opens a thread for everyone to comment on a TRUE solution to the tank-ball problem. They both have the same root causes anyway: too much damage reduction through various means, overheating incoming damage -- both with little investment.

There is actually this same group of forum users that just trying to defend every single aspect of what is broken in ESO PvP. From proc sets to range ganking to Signet, to DKs to new stamsorc to new WW. And no one knows who these users are in game, what they play, what they do, as they never share a single thing about themselves in-game. And they get some Agree's every time they write anything and they write a lot.

ESO PvP balance is the most non-existent thing ever in our universe. How can a normal human being that has ever touched online video games can approve Signet gameplay to begin with. This only makes sense if you either are the decision maker who introduced those broken aspects to the game or a group of players that just abuse all the broken aspects and use them against players that either chose not to use them or just doesnt have enough experience about the game to be able to efficiently abuse them.

If all you do is to make a group of three 40k hp stamsorcs with signet and look for the most casual player groups in the Cyrodiil to have a 3v20, or just chase single players, that would explain why some users defend these kind of inbalances to exist in the game. Same with DK, same with WW i guess. I cant think of any other reason tbh.

theres also the same group of forum goers who call everything useful broken and anyone that disagrees with this mantra is biased, or lying or obviously using the thing they're trying to recommend be nerfed etc. And some even locate you in game to continue their debates from the forums.

And historically the ones begging for nerfs are far more successful than the ones suggesting zos doesn't nerf something. Think y'all will be alright for a few cycles.
