If you optimized your WW build, this is accurate. I have smoked plenty of WWs on my DK but I ran into a WW meta build yesterday and It was dizzying. My CMX read about 5500 DPS from the WW. And I was running 33k resist and spent most of the fight on my backbar with major/minor protection. We fought for around two minutes. I managed 3500 DPS being almost entirely defensive and hammering my HoTs but my damage did almost nothing to put the WW on the defensive. As soon as I took some small risks to try to burst, my pitiful 34k HP didn't last long.

If you know anything about dueling, 5500 DPS is crazy high damage output. Especially if the build is also running 45k HP and 100% major protection uptime. That's really unheard of. Your average player has zero chance. Your average 5 players have zero chance.

I think DK ended up in a good place but WW has been overtuned. Nothing wrong with going bold but it needs to be walked back.

I was hit by a 28k whip (you can see above I also have clips, etc.) and nearly insta-killed by a 41k health DK (with core of flame I imagine too). I don’t know if you knew this but between corrosive, vigor, and healing soul+ ability to roll dodge ‘5500’ with no burst is not the same as 4k with the ability to pop your ulti and hit for 40k in a second. Which is exactly how I said this would go in practice.

Fantastic for 1v1s though… assuming it doesn’t just end in a stalemate.

Yeah, either neither is balanced or both are balanced around being on a ‘reworked’ level. Most certainly not ‘wolf OP’ and ‘DK is fine’.

Yes. I could hit you with such a whip as well. However, it takes a large amount of skill and some luck to do that on a good player. People can land 30k spec bows as well and that's ranged. Fe7on showed this on his yt channel early in subclassing. But that's what the riposte CP is for. Supercharing one hit of direct damage.

But if a WW is on you with 5500 DPS and 45-50k health, there is no bursting that. Your only hope is applying enough pressure via DoTs. I'm running a pyre/wildfire build that can hit high DPS as well but I'm 10k health short. Maybe if I managed a 500 Balorg ulti with riposte I could burst down such a WW but it's unlikely. I forgot to mention that I was holding block for much of that fight and he still managed 5500 dps.

Go to Pelican's YouTube channel where he's shown a 200-0 dueling record with his WW. This is against some very good duelers too who would smoke 99.99% of players.

I have no problem with the possibility of a 30k hit in PVP as long as it's difficult, dodgeable, and blockable. But what is happening with WW is busted OP. Nobody on a DK is going 200-0. Subclassing builds and pure sorcs are still very much capable of performing at DK levels but WW is a level above them all.

My brother in cheese- this was ALSO done to my friend not more than 2 minutes later.

Dude has core of flame and 41k health (lmk if you need proof; quick reminder that corro pens all… 28-29k resists withstanding) That’s NOT skillful. And sure I’d personally take werewolf as a 2 bar but when it’s 3 individuals (@React @Pelican @hoangdz spam posting ‘nerf werewolf’ and there’s hardly a peep anywhere else)…

…who are so ready and willing to dismiss this or anything related to DK while openly admitting they have a bias against ‘anything 2 bar’… there feedback should be interpreted as such (hence why I’m more than happy to scream these facts to the moon and back)

Werewolf MUST be competitive unless they rework it again or THIS rework is an objective failure. Reducing healing or glob forbid reducing the already horrid in-kit damage even further does not reach that goal.

Jamm @Chase0351 - 4 responses in a row just to make sure this dying thread doesn’t fall off of the main page. I was hit with a 9k DK burst delay into a 28k whip with 28k resists. Oh, and they had 41k health and infinite sustain (I imagine) from core of flame also.

DK is plenty fine against wolf <3 especially the average wolf I imagine (not that building resistance even matters against it)

Don’t take this the wrong way but 28k resistance is very low in current meta. Once you are debuffed with major and minor breach you’re down to roughly 19k and if you are fighting more than one player you may have more resistance debuffs on you lowering your already squishy resistance down even further. So at 28k resistance you are obviously not the kind of WW player/build that this thread is referring to. The meta ww builds are high resistance plus armor pots and high health which is why they can 1vX large Zergs and do very well. I’m talking 40k+ resistance easily and 40k+ health with infinite sustain and really good damage pressure plus you can’t outrun them either. These are the balance breaking builds that need to be addressed, not the casual builds. The casual builds are not even a factor.

Oh, and I made four separate posts because I wanted to address each of those four points individually instead of all in one long text block post.

I’m running the Signet meta/Warden mastery build (over here waiting for the inevitable nerfs as these 3 or so people literally don’t stop spinning it so) but with more pen and mag recovery. Mind you I’m both still killable if I don’t watch my Rampage and hold it until the entire Zerg jumps on me because I’m a HUGE target AND my damage on any of the 35k+ health builds is just… okay (ooooh, deficiencies)

I still have permanent major protection as well as corrosive full pens armor… but even if it didn’t… That’s a 20k or so whip (from the 28k there) and the other, smaller whip that came right before would have been 10k (instead of the 14k) as you can clearly see in the screenshot on the top of page 2…

That’s not counting the other burst move (yet another DK move) they hit me for or the one I’m sure didn’t even pop up on the recap. I was taking back as I was in Cyro and just passed by this person… and died.

It finally clicked when I saw that the DK in question has 41k health and then I was legitimately questioning how wolf is any different except I only have serious damage with a handful of builds for werewolf and none of them have actual burst outside of proc sets.

Edit (think I’ll put this on every page @React or @hoangdz bump this to; this was done TO an ‘unstoppable meta werewolf’ mind you):

@Wuuffyy sorry for this late reply but for some reason your screenshots did not show up on my end until now. Looking at your resistances it’s like I said earlier they are very low. And once the dk debuffs you with major and minor breach which they have built into their class kit you will be around ~19k resistances which is glass cannon one shot territory. So if you get your resistances to at least the 33k cap you will reduce those whips by quite a bit and I would even suggest you get your resistances closer to 40k to act as a buffer for the debuffs coming in so you’re still around 33k with major and minor breach on. This is very easy to do while still maintaining 6.5-7k wd and 8-10k base pen you just have to do some research and plan accordingly. Without divulging too much build info I will tell you I never get hit with whips even remotely close to 28k. Also, block more.

Rolling bad players isn’t really a good sample of the population. You and your group obviously haven’t ran into any good ww’s or it would’ve been stalemate or your entire group got taken out one by one. The ww’s you took out aren’t 1vXing Zergs. Also, zerging down individuals with a coordinated group is also not a baseline for testing combat metrics in PvP specifically related class tuning.

I’m also curious if you don’t play ww why are you being so argumentative and in their favor? They were much more balanced last patch and if you watch streams from u49 you’ll notice in bg’s and cyro the ww howls in the background which tells you there was no shortage of them last patch but their power and capabilities were more balanced. All they needed to do was tune down dk and release the class mastery passives. The ww class really did not need to be buffed like it did because historically speaking when you look online you can find old forum posts throughout the years of players bringing up the fact that they’ve always been over tuned in relation to the other classes since WW has been around. Let’s keep this thread honest and not pretend like WW’s are not over tuned going forward please and thank you.

because i know names and I have fought good ww players, and I think its silly people assume because i dont agree with yall that the players we fight in bgs or cyrodiil must be trash, and also coming from a dk main, im tired of people complaining about dk so much, so for me its beneficial to have others like werewolves and sorcs etc be competitive with DK, I'd rather that than once again being forced to subclass or just be tanky on DK. Its more fun when there is variety.

I played bgs in u49, there was rarely ever a werewolf, and the only time i died to one was experimental builds. I played bgs here also and aside from getting focused by yourself you're not dying to the werewolf alone unless you are squishy.

Apparently people build very differently than us Carried by StamDK types.

Since you’ve never died to a WW 1v1 I have a guildie I play with often that you should duel. He’s a WW main and his build is exactly what the core issue of this entire thread is about. He knows it and it is what it is. Like I said previously all of these balance issues are the devs fault. It’s their world and all of us just play in it. I don’t blame people for using what’s at their disposal. But if you’re on Xbox na lmk and we can arrange that 1v1 so I can show you the build we are all talking about to help you understand better. I’m not trying to bait or anything like that so I hope Zos doesn’t come on here and accuse me of that. I’m genuinely trying to enlighten you if you have yet to be killed by a meta ww in a 1v1.

*edit* I’m also a dk main and have killed many ww’s. But the bad ones don’t make the difference just like bad dk’s don’t make the difference when everyone is complaining about our class. We are looking at the ceiling not the floor.

He’s on PC NA, and no he hasn’t been killed yet because he mostly zerg surfs Cyrodiil where most WWs are bad. Quite frankly, not a lot of good players enjoy using WW to 1vX because it’s too easy, so he’s probably not going to find any decent WWs to fight against either.

With that said, there are a couple good WWs he can try fighting against and that’ll open his mind up lol

All y’all can mention are resistances (as if 28-29k with 45 health is remotely low)

You can literally see corrosive in the recap.

Even if that wasn’t up AND I had capped resistances (which is far more than building 33k in PvP due to natural pen)… it would have been a 10k whip, 7k core of flame, 5k incinerate, and a 20k whip.

THAT with 41k health and infinite bi-sustain from flame on that DK, mind you.

I see many of you running around with these things… using these things including React. Yet all you can give me excuses. Werewolf AREN’T doing this to you… werewolves CAN run out of mag. I CAN’T have major evasion and overbearing damage as I have to pick a morph.

These are lethal levels of cope from people who have been squatting on DK for multiple patches now. ‘my thing is fine and werewolf is the problem’. 2 bars nets you the ability to instantly kill a 45k health werewolf, there is your advantage.

Not to mention @Wuuffyy ’s very low resistances. I don’t think his build is as meta as he thinks it is because those resistances are ranged mag sorc territory not frontline brawler 1vX meta ww.

Solo or with my small man we dont mostly zerg surf, can ask the dc that call us out in zone chat to come zerg down at glade or various towers in or out of the keep.

And in those fights with many sweats the werewolves are rarely the main threat to us, its the enemy dk.

@hoangdz some clickbait esque YT videos dunking on low-skill riff raff. That’s present on any spec and class. Go search for DK and post some here or do you need me to cause I can imagine if that guy that killed me is in OW Cyro with 41k health and the ability to annihilate a 45k… with infinite bi-sustain through core of flame would have no issue posting at least an X clip or 2 sitting in Cyro every couple of hours.

Not to mention @Wuuffyy ’s very low resistances. I don’t think his build is as meta as he thinks it is because those resistances are ranged mag sorc territory not frontline brawler 1vX meta ww.

The resistances didn't matter in this case since the emperor that hit him had a corrosive up, but yes I agree his are much lower than they should be and he clearly is not using the correct potions/gear to optimize his build.

It's just hilarious to see his projection called out for once. If you read back through the official WW feedback thread from the U49 PTS, this individual spent the entire time making bad faith arguments, calling out every piece of evidence provided as lacking context, and calling the people providing that evidence "bad actors" with "agendas".

But then he comes here and shares a (as he likes to put it) "no context" screenshot of a death recap where he conveniently omits that the "41k health DK' in question was the emperor.

It's always the ones you most expect. :)

1v1s are merely for practice or pure ego stroking, it has no bearing on the actual game itself. For instance people complaining about Heart of Fire being op, but when targeted by multiple people stun locking and hitting you, it alone aint saving you without a proper build to live through it, one that would seemingly help yall that think pulse gankers need the nerf. What react described as building super tanky in another thread to me was an average cyrodiil build and is probably why pulse gankers rarely one hit me alone, takes several or more at once to do that and usually its a lucky hit. Can probably count on one hand how many times thats happened.

At least heart of fire requires a cast whereas warden jellyfish was just free sustain plus the passive boost and worked as long as you had it up. Subclassed builds were far stronger than pure dk, people just didnt see it that way because the new dk was everywhere due to being new. Itll be the same with ww, and it is the same with pulse ganking, I already see less and less of them every day.

Bro your resistances are low and that’s a fact. What do you want me to say that I haven’t already said? I’ve literally done more than most and tried to put you up on some game in order to educate you so you can correct your deficiencies because your entire argument in relation to the damage you took is entirely your fault and yours alone, specifically related to your build or lack there of. And your health as nice as it looks on your stat sheet is being let down big time by your very low resistance numbers. 40k+ health on a squishy build is not going to do anything for you if you don’t have the proper resistance levels to mitigate the incoming damage. You might as well have 20k health because at 28k resistances on a frontline brawler type play style which is exactly what the WW is you are going to get killed very quickly. And if you’re dying to corrosive from anyone except the absolute best dk’s on your server then that is an experience and skill issue. To be blunt, most good PvP players can block through corrosive from most other players unless it’s timed very well with a good amount of burst behind it and a hard cc. You seem to have been caught by a standard dk combo that most would have been able to block or get away from entirely. I don’t want to sound cliche but you gotta learn to play before you blame the system. Also, take my suggestions and do some research on how to make yourself more tanky and honestly your w/sd numbers were pretty low too so you need to work on that as well.

they make the difference for a game when the majority of players are bad, at least 80 percent or more dont even know how to build a general front bar back bar one mythic one monster set and trainee piece build. Or in the case of ww two five pieces on the same bar and a mythic with trainee, etc.

But even the ones who do know how to at least follow a youtube recommended build they are average and cant think for themselves and adjust those builds to their own playstyles, they build like 1vXers without knowing how to 1vX, or in some streamers case for instance tried building for dk with VD to play like react, failed at it and quickly gave up dk for pulse ganking instead.

Most players are bad, a handful of decent ones mopping up the rest is the norm and doesnt warrant a nerf. Widespread chaos and cheese does like the hrothgars meta even though i enjoyed that quite a bit lol, was fun. But it was glitched and overperforming. They overcorrected with that fix as they normally do and now its pretty much a dead set besides very niche builds.

Had some dc I farmed along with a dozen other dc at warden call my very basic pyrebrand dk build "broken". Clearly mileage may vary and it does in what people consider OP.

The majority of players in any game are 'average' which looks 'bad' to people like @React @Pelican, etc. I personally like to think they have different 'priorities' which is more than a fair perspective.

The majority of werewolves I've ran into have been mid to awful in terms of usefulness. I truly feel the average DK is more of a threat than the average werewolf... especially if they're running corrosive which most are on back bar I feel. It's just the most werewolves stacking high-health (even if the rest of their build is abysmal)... take a while for me to kill or don't die (but still... usually aren't build correctly to pump out damage).

and the ones that do dish out more damage using shattering paths signet and serpents disdain, or savage werewolf, and gorethief, have only gorethief as a source of aoe damage and are applying a lot of pressure to people individually in single target. Which leads to a situation where they get bombed or corrosive whipped down easily because they're tunnel visioned out in the open or saved for last after everyone else is dead.

Any groups of them also have the same problem, they get stalled out by individuals who are tanky enough to give them trouble xv1ing down, then they die to the other group members, a bomber, or a ball.

I dont consider having to stall out certain duel builds in cyrodiil or simply high damage single target builds bad, its a design choice of those builds same as me building for brawling, aoe damage and stalling out people that focus me is also one, and mine is better suited for cyrodiil and bgs than werewolves are.

I can tell you from experience that heart/soul of flame will not heal or sustain you at all when fighting a Zerg. The animation alone slows you down when you are trying to kite and if you think you’re just going to stand your ground and hold block I’ve seen even the tankiest dedicated tanks get worn down eventually. Everyone talks about core of flame and its morphs being op honestly sound like they don’t know what they are talking about and are just regurgitating rhetoric they seen or heard online. Much like learned language models that teach ai how to think and speak. The fact is words like “op” and “broken” are typically used in build videos as click bait. But every now and then you do get some truly unbalanced broken stuff that gets released, like upper end of WW builds, pulse gankers, status effect builds. There’s nothing inherently wrong with these types of builds existing they just need to be toned down like the dk was recently. See, most dk’s can admit and agree that our class needed to be toned down a bit. But none of the ww mains on here can do that. Why? And all of the people still complaining about dk’s are not acknowledging that our main hard cc was nerfed big time. But we adapt as should everyone else when their crutch gets nerfed too.

Person is typing out a glued-together paragraph telling me that 28k resists and 45k health w/ major protection up is ‘squishy’ to a DK full penning my armor with corrosive.

This is the cope of legends.

    TLDR:

Also, take my suggestions and do some research on how to make yourself more tanky and honestly your w/sd numbers were pretty low too so you need to work on that as well.

    *edit*

If you think 28k resistances are high you must be stuck in update 30 or something because that’s a delusion that no decent player is going to agree with in today’s meta considering how high damage currently is. 28k will get you melted pretty quickly. So it’s like I said, you could have 60k health but it might as well be 20k because if you’re running around as squishy as you are trying to go toe to toe with properly built players then I ca see why you’re here on the forums complaining. Also, practice blocking more.

Trust me, I know and I agree, but you'll find yourself at odds with @hoangdz if you say this lol.

I love this vision DKs have in their head. ‘DK perfectly balanced’ ‘you need 35000 resistance to fight my corrosive’ ‘werewolf is so busted and DK is so balanced’ :D

Start with Signet nerf since it creates and unhealthy meta and fully enables damage with tankiness (it is what causes the 200k parses alone; it would be nerfed on the exact same grounds as it was for Feral Guardian).

And then wait for popularity to fall off with Warden rework.. move from there. I have a list of suggestions to move power into appropriate places rather than just ‘do nothing’.

28k resistances is where you end up using 5 heavy + armor pots on werewolf as besides Major Resolve, it doesn't have any built in armor buffs or access to Minor Resolve. You're not getting much higher than that without subclassing or sacrificing a ton of damage/utility; not that it would make a difference anyways as hes getting hit in Corrosive so his resistances no matter how high would be completely ignored

The first time I died to him, it was in passing. I chased him down to see what his build was capable of. If that was the emp, that is one of the first 'x-er' emps I've ever seen i.e. he gets emp and then walks around with a small group trying to 'x' people.

It's not like anyone would know given that they still haven't fixed the emperor title glitch from never logging on a character after getting emp.

Regardless, I'm still being hit for 17k whips, etc. which even that video is showing you. Along with up to 10k CoE, Flames, etc. in addition. You're downplaying the issue at hand when you take off 8-10k off the biggest whip there and it's still incredibly substantial.

This person here (he knows who he is and was NOT emp) did more or less the same to a high health wolf here:

    5a5i7m3ivke4.png

I'm going off what's happening. I had no idea that dude was an emp b/c I'm literally having my health bar depleted (not dying... depleted) on the regular by DKs.

He’s a properly built DK with a small comped group giving him buffs while he has EMP. You’re supposed to get hit extremely hard by that.

Dk is strong, but you can’t act like there’s DKs running around with 40k+ health hitting you that hard. There is probably no other scenario in the game where you would take that much damage from a DK while on that werewolf.
