Tank Templar Buff Idea

how about giving both versions of rune focus the benefit of the heavy armor skill making you immune to knockbacks and fears while you are in the circle so that tankplars dont get flung around like a plastic bag in the wind every time they wanna use the healing effect from the *** ability as well as making it so tankplars uniquly can avoid everything but snares and immobilizes with maybe even buffing their class masteries based on tanking with either bastion of light getting the added benefit of buffing this effect to include immunity to stuns while this effect is active too since than it would be ACTUAL competition between devout guardian and bastion of light unlike rn where ALL tanks frankly NEED to run the judgement skill for the 300 weapon and spell damage for the group and 600 for themselves and so they cant run both bastion of light and devout guardian without not just being seen as but frankly being a very selfish tank beyond the amount of selfishness a tank does need to have cause if you cant survive, your not useful but when others can survive on your class with that group buff and you dont bring it because you cant survive, its a skill issue at that point and you should be running the group buffs.

So it’s a skill issue if we don’t use the passive you want us to, but you getting flung around like a rag doll is something ZOS needs to solve?

Seems off to me. Just sayin.

more like there are certain attacks that block, dodge, or bash, WILL HIT and others that while you can TECHINCALLY avoid them, are only dodgeable which for dps in medium armor is fine cause medium armor makes roll dodges much cheaper but heavy armor does the opposite so you get HARD *** either on resources or your rotations order and have to just block to reduce the damage while still being flung and stunned by the hit. full stop, it is just tanks already have to manage having the highest hp pools around 40 to 45ish k hp meaning they have almost no stamina and magicka with many of the most important tank abilites for each class are magicka only so you need good magicka too and you need your core abilities to have stamina to use so you need good stamina and you need good recoveries while fitting in major and minor breach AT LEAST on top of a base taunt which preferably is a ranged one, 1 pull, and whatever group buff abilites you can bring to help your group dps on top of also having to find ways to fit in the brittles and vulnerabilites if you can and having to also in fights manage things like, boss position, the direction they are facing because if you say, dont have the stamina because your build is already so stretched thin and the boss fight threw some add's your way eatting your stamina to block or dodge their stun attacks and blocking to stun you if you try to hit them, you than get flung by the boss in a way that turns the boss towards yoru squishy dps or healer and they get one shot by a AoE conal, its ggs on that attempt half the damn time.

its not a big ask to say that templar tanks who are THE *** WEAKEST OF THE WEAK TANK CLASSES should get SOMETHING on their tanking abilites to mitigate one of the most ANNOYING things and fitting the theme the class is going for giving people who wanna play templar tanks SOMETHING to work with the ogive themselves proper reason to at least justify to their group why they are a templar tank and not support or dps as well as give tanks in general another option of a style of play they can go for if they want.

like bro, your statement is as bad as saying that a doctor asking that if your going to be in the room as they do the surgery, you stay quiet and grab them what they need when they ask.... it doesnt change they are still operating on the person in some way and the sheer amount of skill and presicion you need to do that but just is a quality of life thing that they dont have to constantly look to go grab the tools they need.

Please use punctuation, everything you type is a run-on sentence. An entire paragraph being one sentence is tiring to read.

Edit: I do think templar tanks having some sort of knockback resistance would be cool and maybe give plar a leg-up in situations, like how sorc has streak and cro has beckoning armor. But I do not care to discuss.

    That’s a lot of words.

I understand you to say this: tanking is super hard so give us stun immunity.

So the gist of it seems, you are chasing meta, you feel obligated to make every choice based on maximally buffing your group, and are finding your tank stretched too thin to do the job of tanking well and so you decided to publicly say that anybody not making the same choice is selfish and unskilled.

    1. Immunity to stuns is a massive ask, not quality of life. The request would be rejected on the basis of PvP alone where it would make unkillable tanks.

    2. What has my attention though is your derogatory statement to everybody who thinks there is another choice. Maybe stretching your tank to the breaking point doesn’t have the moral high ground you think it does. Maybe it’s ok if I decide to build a little different than you. Perhaps?

Templar is immobile class so he should have CC immunity. He don't have wchich is weird. We are standing block that are forced to small circles for almost evey our skills.

I bit the bullet and read OP’s comments. What I got from it is that they claim they need to roll dodge heavy attacks because otherwise they’ll get knocked back. What they really are doing is rolling too much, losing all their stam in the process. Very few fights have attacks that will knock you back when you’re blocking: Naj last boss and Banished Cells 1 come to mind. But dodging ALSO doesn’t stop you from getting knocked back in those situations either. I get the impression that OP needs to block more and give themselves more sustain through their skill/drink/food/enchant/mundus/cp/etc choices.

They are, however, correct that its expected that a tank will take the 300 weapon/spell damage buff mastery because part of a tank’s job is to supply buffs, in turn making it easier for them to tank because the fight will be shorter. However, I don’t think this super matters when bringing a plar tank is “throwing” in the first place since plar tank doesn’t bring any buffs to the table beyond that one passive that a plar dps/healer could bring instead and, I don’t know, maybe could stack the two ult masteries and use cryptcanon. But… I don’t know, my plar tank works fine and I’ve got jabs and beam, certainly not being “correct” there.

I do think interesting counterplay to a plar who can’t be cc’d in pvp would be to have the resistance specifically not include pulls. Chaining them out of the circle and then stunning them would be counterplay. But I’m not a PvP main, so I don’t consider my opinion to be worth much.

I do wish there was some interaction with jabbing whilst tanking, the passive that lets you block via channeling isn’t very useful due to its short duration, cooldown, and, well, it also procs if you medium attack. But that’s just me and my build, not like I always have jabs, I take it off sometimes.

not stuns, knockbacks and fears with stuns would be made a part of the mastery so you have to give up a full mastery and honestly it could be made too that you get a damage vulnerability against stuns if you take the mastery so your not free to ignore stuns but now they dont fling you around and again, ONLY WHILE YOUR IN YOUR RUNE FOCUS CIRCLE so its not full immunity no matter where you go or what you do but just as long as you hold your ground and again, especially with the addition of a damage vulnerability to attacks with a stun component, it means you REALLY have to be sure you can take the hit but as long as your sure, you can hold your ground with the other passive that increases block mitigation while standing still would be best paired with this mastery but that means you have to give up the judgement master that gives your allies 300 weapon and spell damage and you 600

THANK YOU... YOU GET IT! like especially with that mastery that boost block mitigation which IS REALLY GOOD, requires you to stand still and to get rune focuses full healing bonus of 200% bonus healing from it, you need to stand in the rune focus which is a TINY ASS circle.... like for a class that has to stay in one spot, you should be more heavily rewarded for forgoing mobility other classes get for free.

dude theres 2 in wayrest sewers and 1 i can think of already off the top of my head in spindleclutch. like is it EVERY boss? no and do you HAVE to dodge, no but if you dont dodge, you get *** yeeted to the moon and for normal tanks that can strafe while fighting, sure thats not TOO bad even if it was every boss but for templars, you have to stand in your rune focus and cleansing ritual AoEs to get the healing you need to survive the fight because otherwise you loose SOOO much healing and one of their best masteries that boosts block mit by 20% only does so while your STANDING STILL.... in other words, you NEED to stay in one spot as a templar and so, something to reward that isnt that crazy and beyond that, yea the only way to play templar tank is jabs because at least you do good damage and thats the biggest point of this... if there is TRULY nothing templar can bring to the table beyond jabs doing good damage even for tanks, its so *** boring than and more importantly, its still throwing given how good DK is for group buffs, and how good warden is for massive AoE debuffs INCLUDING MAJOR BRITTLE... like legit, frozen watcher or other sets that can proc chilled on 100% uptime or near it mean that warden just can spit out major and minor brittle, major and minor breach, and than with tide turner or arch druid paired with a shock glyph back bar or scribed ability, major and minor vulnerability on top of minor toughness just in case your groups healer isnt a warden and major resolve and-- do you get the point? sure if those guys DIDNT bring all the good *** a tank needs like all the group buffs new DK can bring for the group or all the AoE debuffs warden can do, templar wouldnt be terrible and their niche would be that they can deal some good damage on top of still tanking pretty well but thats just it. if your doing anything beyond regular dungeons and some of the easier Vet dungeons, you have to MAXIMIZE THAT DAMAGE TO HELL AND BACK to make yourself anywhere near as worth it as a warden tank or DK tank or hell, even necro tank actually got some serious buffs with the class masteries.....

If you are only talking about making it such that things don’t move you, but the actual stuns remain, then that is much more reasonable. I can see the logic there.

On another note, from what I can glean it sounds like you need to build your tank sturdier. If you build for it there is almost nothing in the game that needs to be dodged.

Subclassing exists. Also templars can be mobile, it's just that it isn't as good as every other class in the game because the sustain on the class is bad. (At least in PvP contexts, though I also think sustain sucks in PvE because there's 2 more buffs to manage more often that I wouldn't on other classes besides necromancer).

my tank can solo vestige shademother, survivability isnt the point. the *** up of rotations in an annoying way that takes you being ready for this it with thats the really killer of the knockbacks and fears that are way more previlant than given credit for being AND keep in mind, the idea was that you have to be in the rune focus ground AoE whic is TINY to get the benefits of not being affected by knock backs as well as give up a mastery to get the benefits of stun immunity with i feel hell, could even give fear immunity to the plar and anyone in their cleansing ritual in order to give them truly unique group utility that really goes hand in hand with the fearless bulwark of faith vibe paladins are kinda entirely build around.

what if i wanna play pure plar tho? thats the ENTIRE POINT of the class refresh and class masteries which this idea would be adding to by adding a new class mastery for anti stun while in rune focus because the choice to pure class a tank, healer, or dps shouldnt be rejected and told you dont get to play that cause frankly, it sucks too much in anything beyond solo or lower end content.

i wanna add something.... literally just went through spindle clutch for the challenges and literally EVERY boss has a knockback / stun, all enemies that are melee in general have a knockback / stun, the final boss has a *** undodgable pull into a BARELY dodgeable stun into a big AoE knockback as its LITERAL ONLY MECHANIC LOOP...... beyond that, potions of immovability dont even work on basically ANY of the stuns in there and tried it myself just to point out even when you pop a pot in preperation for a stun in the next second or two, its literally WORTHLESS and does even work...... like 100%, give templars cleansing ritual fear immunity for them and their allies and rune focus knock back ONLY immunity while standing in it with than a mastery you can take to improve your rune focus perhaps by making it 1m large and granting stun immunity to you only and still only while you stand in it making it slightly easier to stay in cause the hitboxes of bosses can be REALLY annoying and literally move you outta it to the point that legit, im considering using wayfarer on my *** banner with how hard staying in your rune focus can be against knockback heavy bosses like spindleclutch.
