Wouldn't we still see others that do have the speed buffs tripping over it even if we don't? I watched several minutes and never saw it happen at all.

No it appears to just impact you and no one else. When I have hit the bump it seems to only show on the impacted character. At least not so I could notice or capture it using a second account.

It happens more often the faster to move, and its only while mounted. So you need the mount speed buffs.

If you dont have them, its a lot less likely to happen.

I guess we should be happy that they do not write us tickets for speeding.

I had a look at the platform and there's a part that's slightly higher that causes the character to trip slightly on the way back from the crafting turn-in area, so that may be where the mount is launching off on the way to the area?

I tried it with my mount (with the speed passives) but couldn't replicate it.

For me, it usually happens much further down the dock, near the crate and barrel on the right hand side. And always while I'm headed towards the crafting turn in area, never on the way back.

I agree with Lokiator, the bump is around halfway down, heading towards the turn-in area. To my mind on the left-hand side, but that could just be the line I normally end up taking.

Just to say, there are pebbles in various parts of the world that send your mount 6ft in the air and flailing so I'm not discounting the aberrant collision field, but I've been back 3 times now and I can't get it. It makes me sad. :'(

I want the crime and punishment system overhauling for a bit more realism. Knock into a townsperson/guard while mounted get fined/killed on sight.

Ok, so there is netting that can cause a bump:

    dv8tubg40gde.png

But I don't think that is what the OP is referring too, not to the tune of 6ft anyway. The lip at the start of the dock can cause a momentary jolt depending on where in the animation the mount is but again not 6ft worth.

The Bump is way smaller than it used to be. I'm happy it's still there as I love to race around the corner and see if I can make it to the writ drop off w/o wiping out or falling into the water.

It's one of the only things fun about doing writs for so many years.

It should stay. As others have mentioned there are numerous other things to fix.

I just tried to ride there several times and nothing happened. I also didn't see this before. But I usually do my writs in Mournhold. Weird. Maybe its the invisible hitbox of that coiled rope?

The bump is somewhere in this middle section:
    brohppd3hapj.png
Some days it triggers every time I go by, some days I can't trigger it at all (including today so far unfortunately).

I think for the folks who have somehow never experienced this and are trying to recreate it, they are envisioning something way more dramatic. People are talking about "forces your mount to jump", etc and I have never experienced it that dramatically. You are not going to observe yourself nor anyone else getting shot up in the sky or something like that.

It is subtle. If you have ever slowly driven over a speed bump and felt your tires go up and down, that's literally the feeling of this weird invisible spot. I don't see my toon "jump" or shoot up into the air or anything... it's more like an effect I feel in my controller when it happens, like I am suddenly hitting a speed bump my toon is having to run up and over for a moment. Like how if you have a tank and you put Bracing Anchor CP on, which slows your movement speed down incredibly, it "feels" like you are running through molasses or some other thick viscous goo that is slowing you down. Neither of these can be captured on video to "show me what you mean", you have to *feel* it in your controller (I dunno how PC people "feel" stuff but maybe there is a keyboard/mouse equivalent?)

I circled in red the spot of the dock it usually happens to me at, about halfway down that dock. Running (mounted or not, I swear I have felt it happen unmounted as well and no I am not wearing Wild Hunt ring) towards the writ turn-in after you have speed built up. I don't recall really experiencing it running back from the writs area towards the bank. Just going from the bank/crafting area running towards the writ turn-in box.

    It's existed basically forever here.

On PC I do perceive it as a sudden jump, but mild, certainly not 'shooting six feet in the air'. Not the feeling of gliding over a speed bump either, but bouncing up from hitting an unfamiliar speed bump a tad faster than you should have. Forward motion is temporarily and sharply arrested; on PC I do not experience it as a thick viscous retardant.

Subjectively it definitely feels like this is accompanied by a small jump upwards but, without being able to reproduce the effect today to check, that could just be a generated impression based on the sensory comparison with a real-world speed bump.

I stood there and watched for about 5 minutes and saw 5 or 6 players with their mounts jumping on that dock, though I'm pretty sure they were actually jumping, not being launched in the air (if that happened the mount would be still trying to run in mid-air). So I assume those players were trying to jump over the hump.

It's funny to hear about it because I used to craft in Vivec City a lot years ago, but never experienced it.

I use the corner of the ramp next to dock to jump past the bump.

I tried this on all 8 of my characters and was not able to replicate this.

Then I stood and watched othes approach and did not see it happen to anyone.

Gotta agree. Never experienced this or seen it.

@FurryCandyHearts What mount are you using?

Is this the speed bump OP is referring to? Can be seen in this video at the 10sec and 23sec marks.
To me it felt more like my mount went up and down some invisible ramp. I did quite a few full sprints towards the crates but only triggered the bump/ramp twice.

if you done crafting in vivec city you know you know what i'm talking about. you just finished crafting and you mounted a steed and you gtrot across the docks at breakneck speed and there it is, the sudden uplift on the rear of your ride or the person in front of you on theirs. Something lifts them 6ft in the air like a huge speed bump that appears under you or them out of no where.

It's time to put a stop to this weirdness!

I also knew exactly what you were talking about before the picture was posted. This bug appeared about 12-18 months ago I think. (didn't exactly mark it on my calendar) It's not that big a hassle, but I'm confident my mount can step over that 3cm ledge at the beginning of the dock without being launched into the air.

Can someone mark where on the screenshot this happens?

Between the coiled rope and the pillar to the right of it. Try running across that with a mount with fully leveled speed buffs and watch what happens.

Yes, I've never seen that but I never approached it from that angle that far back. I always head over from the Enchanting station then around the corner.

Is this the dock where you are finding this speedbump?

    9ph49a1q1sg5.jpg

It always happens to me to the direct left of the first rightmost pillar. I think there's a spot where the ground is ever so slightly elevated tbh.

I actually like the bump. I can make it happen 9/10 on foot while sprinting. What I do is run across and off the edge of the upper ramp, landing just on the top edge of the lower ramp that goes to the Outlaw Refuge. This causes me to hit the invisible bump on the right side.

I don’t do my writs there, but I do know of places where your mount can actually be lifted several feet in the air. It happens sometimes when riding around the walls in keeps in Cyrodiil. There are little ramps or steps on the wooden walkway and if you hit them just right it will happen occasionally.

I’ll have to check this place out.
