Its frustrating you have waste so much time to get the set for it to not even work.

The area you stand in is not even under your feet but in a random spot lol. It also does not last 5 seconds and does not occur once every 3 seconds.

Please fix asap since people like me just wasted so much time getting the set for it to be bugged.

I think you're misreading the tooltip.

The set states "Dealing damage with Burning Light twice within 30 seconds creates a 5 meter area for 5 seconds. This effect can occur once every 6 seconds."

Templar's Burning Light passive states When you deal damage you generate a stack of Burning Light for 3 seconds. After reaching 4 stacks, you deal 1500 Magic Damage to your target. This effect can stack once every half second..."

Firstly, the tooltip does not say that the created area is placed on you. It actually doesn't say where it's placed at all, but it's actually near the enemy that was damaged twice by Burning Light. It's not placed directly underneath them, but around them--presumably because you can't occupy the same space as an enemy.

Secondly, the effect can occur every six seconds, but it requires that Burning Light hit the same enemy twice within 30 seconds. Burning Light itself can only occur every half second, and you need four stacks. At absolute minimum, if the stars align on all your damage ticks, you'd need four seconds to deal damage with Burning Light twice. But the set has a cooldown of six seconds, so the circle can't be active all the time. I want to say that in practice it's up maybe once every eight seconds, but that's guesswork on my part, based on my experience with the set.

It is annoying that you have to move to catch the circle--I'd really prefer that it appeared on the user, given that Templar is a "stand your ground" fighter based on its passives that require standing in certain effects--but the set doesn't appear to be bugged.

They've changed the cooldown to 3 seconds, not 6, which is actually a fairly large buff. On a recent run I did on my Templar, I did more total damage with Aetheric Lancer than I did with Null Arca, and I only equipped both sets for boss fights, for trash I was running Kazpian and Tide-Born. If you chase the area, Aetheric Lancer can be really strong

I would still prefer the area to always drop at you, or for there to be no area at all, but it's a really good set if you use it right

A solution would be for the proc to drop randomly around the player instead of the target, it would keep the mini game of moving to stay in it the same while fixing the issue of large boss hitboxes or it being completely wasted cause it spawned in cleave

Ah, thank you for the correction! I was using UESP's description because I wasn't at my computer--I guess it hasn't been updated yet.

In any case, I think we've refuted the original poster's comments, at least to a degree--the effect is not necessarily guaranteed every three seconds, since it depends on getting enough ticks of damage with Burning Light, and the effect appears around the enemy damaged by Burning Light, not on the user. I feel like the assertion that the circle doesn't last five seconds is probably subjective interpretation--it takes a moment to locate it visually and then to move to it, and then you'll have however much time is left.

So, the set works as its description says. Whether it could be more convenient to use is a different matter.

Thanks for clarifying this for me. Still think it needs to be fixed though.

Its doesn’t make sense it spawns randomly or under a enemy, you cant stand under a enemy and in most scenarios we are either stacked together (random spot spawn just moves us out of place) or everyone is on the move so it makes the set useless pretty much everywhere.

Burning light says it stacks every .5 seconds from any damage. So if I got my endless hail, quick cloack, solar barrage, ritual of retribution and jabbin I should of 1000% uptime yet I do not. Im actually testing it as im writing tthis.

On the dummy that standing still spawns the yellow circle in a completely random spot. You would think a parse dummy staying still would spawn the circle in the same spot but doesn’t. I also noticed someone pointed out the tooltip say shift “this effect can occur once every 3 seconds” but I can 100% guarantee it does not. It actually looks like it is backwords and occurs once every 5 seconds and the area is only up for 3 seconds maybe even quicker.

This set might need a whole rework
