I don't understand hybridizing alchemy and mundus stones and more. What does that even mean?

It's like everything is losing its identity and its purity. Subclassing tossed all the skill lines in a pot and stirred them up to get a conglomeration that turns players into no class and multiclass at the same time.

I can't even imagine what they will do with alchemy to hybridize it. Who knows what kind of potions we will get next, but we will have to use them if we are to compete and keep up.

Everything is losing its identity, especially this game. It's fast becoming unrecognizable and for the first time I don't see this ending well.

Maybe I misread the article, but it does not seem like ‘hybridization’ but cleaning up duplication and other incongruent bits.

    Not sure why so concerned.

But if they really wanted to make things fair, they’d remove the stamina cost for movement. Nothing like getting to a battle and you’ve nothing left, whilst mag builds are fighting away….

What is the game supposed to be then?

Its over 10 years old; there has to be some changes otherwise players would be complaining about how the same it was.

Scribing & subclassing may not be to your liking, but they are fun, and they are voluntary. Don’t use it if you don’t like it. Easy.

Personally love subclassing as it has enabled many people to get into end game stuff that felt locked them out before - and if you think that is a bad thing, then I cannot be bothered with your opinion.

With every patch, update or improvements the game begins to be more focused on numbers, parsing, min maxing, buff numbers or which class will be fotm. ESO has soon nothing left to resemble Elder Scrolls game, but a "race of the numbers" simulator.

I have no idea with devs' obsession about numbers and trying to make a fair envorinment for everyone. Nothing is fair in any game, that is why we have classes and roles for everyone. I am really getting tired of ESO becoming one of these raiding games people just log on for getting some rewards. After every patch game becoming more unbalanced.

Please if you want to keep your base gamers stop with these numbers' race and focus on giving, creating fun, meaningfull content. All I hear last year all about nerfing, boosting, equalizing numbers, numbers and numbers... Just stop it.

I for one I'm happy that they are finally getting around to finishing hybridisation.

Also, it has been a long while since I last dreaded the patch notes.

Looking forward to hearing more about U51.

It's soon been 13 months since I unsubbed and uninstalled, and what I've seen during my time away from the game doesn't want me to get back into it. There's simply too little content (I was a quester first and foremost) to come back to, and the battlepass system is extremely unappealing to me. ESO is a B2P game with an optional sub yet we get a battlepass you have to pay for to get all the goodies... I played Warframe last year for a few months and that game is F2P with a FREE battlepass with lots of cool stuff on offer! They have an optional cash shop and you can also buy player-made cosmetics. Also been playing WoW during my time away from ESO, and I feel like that game actually respects the time I spend playing it, despite what people might say about WoW.

I'll still be following the direction ESO is going, and might consider returning once all the classes have been reworked and if there's meaningful content to do. The writing has been getting worse since 2020, year by year, so even if ZOS would bring back zones with main story and side quests, I might not enjoy it anymore. I played Solstice on the PTS and that experience was the final nail in the coffin for me.

The mundus and alchemy changes seem pretty neat from the preview article I read, at the very least they're finally finishing up hybridization - but, what about food/drink? There was no mention about those in there... I personally think provisioning is as big of a mess as alchemy! Way too many useless recipes and if you want raid food, you gotta either drop a butt ton of gold or dedicate all your spare time to fishing so you can get perfect roe. And then there's the foods that need rare alchemy mats! I was a tank main so I didn't *need* the sugar skulls unless I was vet raiding, and for dungeons I'd just use tri-stat food. Imo they should rework provisioning.

Hopefully ESO would turn around and become a game I wanna spend time in again, it was my main MMO from 2016 to 2025... And to those who complain that players who quit are still posting here - former players like me usually hope the game would get better, so they keep their eyes on the forums as the forum account doesn't have any restrictions for people who've quit. (WoW forums for example only let you post if you are subbed on your account.)
    PC-EU (Steam) - CP 2300 - I was a tankblade main...

As a PvPer, this game has failed. PvE is a totally different beast, it has not been totally disfigured.. In my opinion it is alright.
But Cyrodiil and Battlegrounds.. Its like the developers do not want PvP a part of the game anymore.
    Former STAMINA NB DPS
Now just a 1hp wet noodle wielding failed and outdated class that still gets nerfed at every patch

I feel like ZOS just drove the bus off a cliff. People are just realizing the scenery has changed that much since 2014 and are wondering when we're going to hit the bottom of the ravine.

I hear where you are coming from and agree with pretty much all of it...

But the last year or so, with the new leadership at ZoS, things have been changing... for the better.

You're seeing a lot of positive changes, IMO, and the updates are pushing people in the right direction. ZoS is being more transparent with a lot of things.

They will never come out and say this... but I feel like the class reworks are there way of phasing out subclassing. Once the classes are all reworked I would be curious to see if they remove subclassing from the game.

The old leadership at ZoS were some of the worst at chasing trends - only problem is they chased them about 5 years late everytime. Halo Studios/343i has the exact same problem.

I'd love to see subclassing phased out, healing/shielding reworked, and a slow reduction in the dps numbers we have been seeing.

    I feel the opposite ngl.

This year has proven to me already that zos cares.

I might be jumping the gun a bit since we still havent seen warden's refresh yet, but given the other things theyve done this year, im more optimistic than i've ever been.

Things have changed for the better, but no amount of QoL is going to be a substitute for fixing the content problems we have.

Yes, these are technical debts that need resolution. No one's saying not to do them. But there's still very little content in the game beyond the existing systems. And with that content drought, with the lacking rewards, the game's going to fizzle out.

For instance, I loved that they made outfit slots account wide. It reinvigorated the game for me - for a few nights. It's the same thing for the class reworks. When the new warden launches, I'm going to walk around Summerset, smack a few enemies, do one or two dungeons, and then log off. There's just not much to do at the moment.

Nothing released in the last few years, aside from IA, can stand up to the longevity of just doing random dungeons. They're making good progress on some of the systems (night market), but they're still missing the mark on rewards for most of what they're putting out.

That's a big problem and I'm not confident they truly understanding how to make things rewarding. I'm certainly not giving them anymore guidance on it, I don't feel like it's considered.

I'm hoping the sum of this year's work lands the game in a better place for next year. High Seas, Crimson Veldt, and Sages Vault all sound promising. I can't do trials at this point in my life, but I'm hoping it makes the rest of the year more fun.

I really, really hope that you are right. But I feel like we've been in this space before. Zos makes some catastrophic mistake, we rage but then are soothed by sweet words and the illusion of efforts at correction. Only for another hammer to drop, distracting us from the last problem that is allowed to metastasize for y.e.a.r.s. Maybe things will be different with new leadership. The cynic in me says otherwise and after being burned so many times I'm reluctant to even offer them the benefit of the doubt. But...Maybe

    Agreed.

Everything they have been saying, and doing, for the last year or so has been awesome.
