Severe Audio Lag

    We are all getting it at the same time in coms pvp, so it is NOT you, it's the server.

    Many of us also getting dead stops when we go to pve dungeons -then sudden catch ups. That's obviously been in pvp for awhile but not so much pve.

    Many of us have long held the belief that PTS destroys the main server while it runs.

    Right now it feels like my computer might be about to die -even though the ping shows fine and it's not hot at all.

    Yep, I've been getting multi-second lag delays of audio and skills going off after I press them. Lots of players I raid with also have been experiencing it lately. Please fix, it's really frustrating.

    I've had this audio lag for months. It began I don't remember when, but definitely last year sometime as my team was in Sanity's Edge progging the HM last summer and it happened then. I tried without add-ons for a bit to see if that helped but it didn't.
    It's got a lot worse since the night market arrived and is one of the reasons I'm not playing much at all now.

    For me it was about 3 weeks ago. I play an alt account on my XBox One - I don't expect great play anymore but it got really bad. Dolmens are the easiest to see - mobs are invisible for a while. Able to kill and loot the dolmen boss before he appears.

    Sound is related. It often is 5-10 seconds behind if it happens at all.

    Less much often happens on the Xbox Series X but it is common. Still have the invisible mobs too, but again, much less common.

    Overland performance has been worse since the release of NM, but that Saturday about 3 weeks ago it went downhill in all facets. I haven't PvPed since NM came out so I can't speak to it there.

    Really? You don’t think I disabled everything as a first step in troubleshooting? Do you work for Zos? Come on man!

    Well something is causing it for some, but not for others, so it doesn't appear to be a server issue.

    That's not how things work.

    Animations are client side. Sound effects are tied to animations. i.e. they are client side too.

    There's definitely some odd de-sync going on with the animations and the sounds though. Last week it really struck me as odd when I tried to force lock on a chest, it failed unusually quietly, then succeeded on the second attempt - but the lockpick breaking sound only played after I had already looted the chest and left.

    Finally got my forum account activated. I wanted to chime in here, also experiencing the same issues since NM launch on PS5 Pro/NA.

    General audio desync/delay
    Skill desync/delay
    Mount spawn delay
    Recall animation and sound effect delay (arriving and leaving)
    Delay for dialogue when talking to an NPC
    ..plus more that I'm not remembering off the top of my head.

    I hope this gets fixed as it's very frustrating to play the game with these issues happening fairly consistently.

    I wanted to jump back into the thread and say that since update 50 went live today I haven’t been experiencing issues. I’m interested in hearing how the update is treating others with regard to this issue.

    It is actually MUCH worse for me now. Before it would happen once every few minutes and it was bearable, now it happens about 2-3 times every minute.

    I was hoping that server maintenance and the update might resolve the issue. Alas, the audio lag not only continues, but seems to have gotten worse. It doesn't seem to matter where you are or what you're doing, either.

    Still have all the same problems post-patch. And here is an example from Tempest Island last night.

    Stormfist boss - completely invisible for me. Clearly there, since others are attacking it and the health bar is present. But never renders in.

    I hoped update 50 would fix it, bit it didn't. It's as bad as ever. No word from ZOS about this. I was trying a delve on one of the higher difficulties and the lag was horrendous. Again, not related to ping, as mine was rock-steady all evening.

    Still having the same issues, audio desync all the time, monsters taking several seconds to render, and frequently happening to my mount too.

    It's horrible for me too, I've had bad lag often for years on end but not as frequent as this sound lag. The only way I can play at the moment is with the sound off. Maybe once Night Market is over the lag will improve though and return to some type of normal-ish lag again?

    I’m back with more data, I definitely don’t have to be in NM for it to trigger. I’ve had it recently when I haven’t even been in NM. It seems to maybe be late at night, like tonight around 12 AM EST? And I’m having it in dungeons.

    Same here. Latency around 100ms on EU servers but there's an annoying lag all over. I was playing yesterday at 2am, no one around, and yet the game kept lagging skills/sounds/music.

    It apparently got better in overland and I'm no longer having the invisible mount bug anymore, dungeons are still terrible though, I'm constantly unable to switch bars as audio lags and enemies won't render at all.

    No. Lag is almost always server side with ESO.

    It's jaw dropping that there are still people trying to blame the consumer for ZOS shortcomings resulting from poor code or poor server management.

    Yep -- this has been EXCRUCIATINGLY BAD for me since the update (U50).

    Xbox NA

    The sound of my skills firing occurs about 5 seconds after the fact.

    This is not connected to a visual lag in the skill.


    Will it be fixed in a patch soon?

    I was getting this intermittently before U50 but it's constant now. Pretty much every other sound effect seems to have a delay ranging from a second to even three. It's making the game almost physically nauseating to play.
