Idea to Add Value to Challenge Difficulty

What if they added a cosmetic for each challenge difficulty (that you can decide to equip or not) that added a glow to your character depending on the challenge rating selected, and increased in visiuals the more enemies/bosses killed in that challenge rating. They could maybe even sell different colors in the crownstore.

I would wear the color that shows what difficulty I currently play.
Even without any features like "see how much I did", it would be good to see the settings the player chose.

Also, since this would show visually what difficulty others a playing, it may minimize issues where players may disrupt someones combat encounter, or inversely players with the same difficulty visual may be drawn to complete encounters together.

I like this idea, but maybe it could be a toggle so that all players can see it if they choose. I don't plan to use difficulty but it would be interesting to see what others are choosing to do.

Unless I had some addon doing it, you can see what difficulty another player is on. It’s by their name/healthbar when you put your cursor over them. Their healthbar also looks fancier.

Addons at most can alter the typeface and font size, but this is a universal change. i.e. it's not an addon doing it.

Please no added glows for this, I wouldn't want to see that on other players constantly. A healthbar effect or something, maybe.

Difficulty setting It is supposed to be optional and it should stay optional. The only reward should be satisfaction for playing at higher difficulty. I am kinda surprised that there is even a exp bonus since for 1000% some one will figure out (or already did) some crazy grinding spot where you kill weak enemies with AOE before they can even hit you so increased damage in PvE does not matter etc, but you can level up skills or champion point hyper fast.

If they add ANY reward for playing at higher difficulty - then it will no longer be "optional" (a choice you make). It won't be a reward for playing at higher difficulty, but rather a penalty for those who are playing on default difficulty.

I'm second guessing my reply above. Maybe instead of a glow having a different health bar like they already have woud be better.

I love that you can see the details some of us miss Soarora. I now know to look at player health bars once u50 goes live.

All other activities in this game have rewards. So it would only be penalty if it didn't have anything since it would take up more time and effort with no reward. And it would be the only activity in the entire game to do so.

The amount of exp and coin being given doesn't even fully offset the increased time to kill. There will be niche use cases where it will be the best such as alik'r dolmen farming exp and that's about it. And exp has no impact on others

I see where you are coming from but i fundamentally disagree. There needs to be incentive for increasing the games difficulty, and currently their isnt enough incentive imo. The challenge itself is not enough to warrant playing the harder difficulty.

And on a fundamental level, i believe players should be rewarded for achieving difficult things, and this should not be removed at the expense of people that don't want to try to achieve said thing. They put the time and effort for it, so they should be rewarded.

To me, it would be more unfair for the person that invests more of their time and efforts but still gets the same rewards as someone who didnt invest anything at all.

I would agree with you if there were separate instances for different difficulty settings. Since we do not have them, all a Vestige needs to "achieve" the rewards is to wait for an Adventurer(s) to show up and blow up everything in the vicinity.

I'm not saying that all Vestige players are going to do this, and I also know that current extra xp and extra gold are not really the kind of rewards most players care about. BUT if they start adding something really desirable, all this talk about efforts will go out of the window.

Yeah that is a fair point. People could essentially get the rewards of a difficult setting without actually doing anything difficult.

Exactly. Apparently, they also added achievements and dyes. So, this is going to get interesting.

the thing that it would impact the most will likely be spellscar farming in craglorn, as thats an overland area of the zone

while the bonuses and such wouldnt work for something BRP or likely skyreach farming (since both are basically dungeon instances)

I'm honestly down with having more methods of farming exp.
