Necromancer Should Be Reworked As A Proper Pet Class

    I like the idea of the Necro having permanent pets. That would likely create lore issues because most of its abilities will cause the Guards to attack. The Necro is such a great Class, I truly miss seeing them around. You used to get the occasional Necro healer in dungeon finder. Or see the occasional Necro tank out there along side the DK in trials. Now all you get is extremely rare Necro tanks and people simply exploiting the Class for its Ultimate Res by Subclassing. We lost nearly every Necro Main we had over Subclassing. Who in their right mind would want to wait years to play their character they bought the game for? The Necro needs so much work and I feel awful for the ones who stayed and have to keep playing the game as some other character. It has a great theme and so much potential. I don't see its Class Mastery Passives helping it very much either.

    Half of the necromancer players left when stalking blastbone got removed, and another bulk left when subclasses came out. Both pve and pvp wise. And right now the DK refresh patch made more people leave their including me this time.

    Trying to have the devs see reason and refresh that class as soon as possible but I fear that they simply do not care much about this class and that they once again prioritize other classes.

    There has been a lot of threads concerning that class being closed to being unplayable due to how weak and bugged it is. But the devs did not reply to us.

    Necromancer is taking longer to rework because they need to conceptualize two entirely new Skill Line themes, as all three of them will be too similar post-refresh.

    Living Death as a Damage Skill Line will be much too similar to Grave Lord, and as a Tank Skill Line it will be just like Bone Tyrant.

    Reworking the Skill Lines to ALL work for every role, is the entire point of this Refresh and it would have happened with or without Subclassing.

    How do you solve skill line irrelevance?
    By making them all relevant.

    As for the OP? Yeah. I agree.

    Necromancer in ESO as a playable class is the most disappointing iteration of the fantasy archetype that I have ever seen in any game, and I get it…

    When designing a summoner for an MMO suffering performance problems, it only makes sense to create what we were given.

    That said… we are in 2026 now; and I say this with all due respect, if a player is not on current gen at this point, with next-gen already announced… will they ever update their hardware?

    It’s time to move on from Xbox One and PS4.

    The awful thing is that ZOS decided to refresh the most nerfed class last, which is why some people left the game when the DK refresh. Templar also got nerfed a lot over the years.

    Right now, if the refreshes follow the same scheme of the DK refresh, Necro will be completely unplayable.

    They should have released those refreshes next year then. All of them at the same time to preserve a bit of balance, and they could have made some small changes to class skill lines in the meantime. Right now things are about to be completely imbalanced, and next patch warden, a class that was doing fine, will be made OP too, and I don’t want to be in the game to witness this, and I bet I am not the only one. The fall in active players when the DK refresh came out is a proof of it.
