Does the Green Champion Tree really need slottables?

Pretty much just the title, there's only 2 scenarios where you'd ever need to swap your Green Slottables, and that's if you're Fishing, Resource Farming, or Thieving...

Most players will just stick to one, and to everyone else it can be frustrating to have to swap it out, especially when the bonuses are so crucial for their relevant activities.

There is pretty much no reason to ever swap anything out unless you do a mix of those things, and if you do it becomes tedious to remember every time that "Oh, I need to slot my fishing bonuses" and "Oh, I need to slot my harvesting bonuses" and "Oh, I need to slot my Thieving bonuses"... Should it really be like this when none of these have any effect on Combat?

    i think more should be passive.
    But i think the speed abilities in the Craft Constellation should be slottables as we do not always want to be a speedster.

    so i do not think it is fine as is nor do i think all abilities should be passive.

    CP respecs aren't free. Only skill and attribute respecs are free, and it's a recent change.

    Good point, I often take the speed constellation off my slottables, usually when I want to have a personality’s animations show up correctly. It would suck to spend 3000g every time I wanted to slow down a bit.

    I don't use the speed abilities because I really dislike going that fast, so I just don't put any points in those.

    4 Tasks, or lets say roles for sake of ease:
    • Fishing
    • Resource Farming
    • Thieving/Assassination (Stealth)
    • PvP/Travel (Mount speed and Stamina)

    Similar to how in Blue and Red you have slotables that are more orientated to one of 4 tasks:
    • Healing
    • Damage
    • Tanking
    • PvP

    There are also three differences to consider:
    1. The Green roles are typically out of combat actions
    2. The swapping of CPs can be automated (and has been in large part: JackOfAllTrades)
    3. You can slot all the Green CPs needed for 3 out of 4 roles at the same time.

    For Stealth there is technically a problem in that there are 5 useable slotables and only 4 slots:
    Friends in Low Places
    Steed's Blessing
    Fade Away
    Shadow Strike
    Sustaining Shadows

    The last is functionally junk. For example, my base sustain is around 300 stamina per second. The cost of moving while sneaking even in my least stealthiest sets is 160 stamina per second.

    Personally, I'd love them all passives, but I get there could be a sense of roleplay from having to slot them, like "this character is my fisherman; this is my thief" etc... And that would get lost if they were all just passives. So Idk...

    Sister, stuff like this is likely why you have a hard time with those dragons in IA. Speed is a big deal in pretty much all content unless you're tanking, and even then arguably you still need some on occasion.

    Sister, stuff like this is likely why you have a hard time with those dragons in IA. Speed is a big deal in pretty much all content unless you're tanking, and even then arguably you still need some on occasion.

    I tried the faster speeds when they were introduced and hated it. I felt as though I was in a mad frenzy all the time. Maybe it would help with me the IA dragons, maybe it wouldn't, but it would come at the cost of making the rest of my play time miserable just for one fight I rarely encounter.

    Just a wording point if you're able to edit. The subheading of the poll suggests a yes no answer but the stated answers in the poll are actually the reverse of what a yes no answer to the subheading would deliver. (unless they've changed the system you may not be able to edit it though)

    Its better than it was. I was really annoyed when Champ 2.0 first came out so many skill passives, like Treasure Hunter, got moved to slottable stars. They changed that a few updates ago and now I hardly ever have all 4 green stars slotted at all. (I'm a klutz and have to turn off Steeds Blessing on my Bosmer, who is already super speedy, occasionally or I run off cliffs and ledges lol)

    I would probably split the difference here.

    Most of the Green tree stars that are purely non-combat convenience could safely become passive once purchased. Things like harvesting, fishing, and thieving bonuses do not really create combat balance problems, and swapping them manually mostly adds busywork.

    That said, I do understand why movement speed is different. Some players do not always want extra speed because it can affect housing, RP, jumping puzzles, personalities, or just general comfort. So I would either leave speed-related stars slottable, or add a separate toggle for them.

    The bigger issue to me is that the Green tree should feel like quality-of-life progression, not a memory test before every activity. More passive utility, free CP respecs, or simple preset buttons would all help without hurting combat balance.

    I had to say no because there are certain times you might not want some of the boosts like trying to catch uncut fish and not catching the rare ones like you were fishing with someone else. Or as others have pointed out, their horse might be moving so fast they're jumping off a cliff😂 I jest.

    The thought of something going wrong with changing the champion system is more worrisome. I often miss the veteran points system for a lot of reasons. I definitely see what you're saying, should we be having to slot or change these things? A bit of yes and no I think. I really wish there was an honest incentive to reach cp3600 but there truly isn't. You really dont get anything by doing so except a grindy headache if you try to rush that.
