Is that the case, have I missed the window of opportunity?
I am not very motivated at all to do this anyway so I really don’t want to waste my time if it’s pointless to even try. I would be very grateful if someone could chime in and let me know where things stand.
Thanks!

There are still quite a lot of groups during prime time farming the first tier of the event (the brazens and argents in the districts). This is all you need to do most of the event, like getting leads, the relics, unlocking wings of the house and earning favour.
The dungeon and trial groups are hard to fill or find at this point unless you’re a tank; lots of waiting involved for those.
I don’t really have an issue with keys, but I can see how they can affect guilds; perhaps they could be reused infinitely for 24 hours max?
Honestly - the fact that on Xbox NA and PS NA both NM servers crashed, which has lad to faction resets, favor wipes etc - and this has now happened twice, first a week ago and now today - is really bad.
This performance is literally comparable to wall event performance for which ZoS leadership apologized. That apology also said this would not happen again, yet it is. Again. And again.
How many chances does one get until trust and hope is lost, nationwide?

I don’t think the core problem is “hard content exists.” ESO should have weird, dangerous, group-forward experiments. The positive posts show the concept works when conditions are right: a real group, clear goals, enough people nearby, and rewards worth chasing.
But the execution seems brittle. The design stacks too many blockers at once: high difficulty, unclear onboarding, faction splits, low/fragmented populations, awkward regrouping, key refarming, and underwhelming rewards. Any one of those is manageable. Together, they make the event feel less like an exciting public adventure and more like homework for people who already have a coordinated crew.
I also think ZOS misjudged the emotional contract of an “event.” Players expect events to be broadly approachable, even if they include optional hard pieces. If Night Market had been framed and structured as “Craglorn-style group challenge zone with normal/vet paths,” the backlash would probably be softer.
Best fix, in my view:
Keep the hard version.
Add a normal/accessible layer for quests, exploration, and basic event progress.
Stop consuming keys after unlock.
Improve group-finder/instance matching and respawn-to-group behavior.
Make faction rewards less self-reinforcing.
Put better, more varied rewards behind repeat play.
So: don’t kill Night Market. Salvage it. The concept has teeth, which is good. It just needs fewer tripwires around the teeth.
