I have to say I was (and still AM) very pissed off about missing out on 2 SP that I could use right now! I instead got an eidetic memory that I kind of already HAVE as an in game tool? And a crappy blue staff that went straight to decon? Really an unacceptable "reward" for doing the moral thing and at the end of a major quest line no less........in a word L A M E.

Now I'm not saying that we should have gotten 2 SP also but how about 1SP and say a legendary item like a piece of jewelry that would be worth using for the next 10 levels? The rewards should be different but be of freakin' EQUAL value.

I felt "shafted" by the reward as well.

Get it- because it's a shaft.

btw, Eidetic Memory is a reward either way you go. No use in taking the moral option at all.

Since the fighters guild reward is a very nice epic I do think the staff you get for the moral choice could do with a buff up to purple.

Yep, next time read the quest dialogue. Also, NPCs don't really care about whether or not you have feelings for them. A reward is a reward.

Just to be certain, on EP side, what 2 quests offer these skill points, and are they the only ones who do so? I don't want to miss out on them if i havnt already lol.

C'mon folks, you're dealing with Sheogorath here. There are no morals with the mad-god (not to mention he verbally tells you the choices in addition to the quest dialog).

Perserve life over death. But it has a punishment of one less skill point. Thats ok thougg. To many skill points as it is.

A question though. 8f you hold off and do mages questline after you are a vet, will the irems merchants sell like pitions and weapons in the cuty be of vetran level?

And how come we can warp to any home faction city but not vet mages guilds after we have unlocked them?

He gave you three warnings that one reward was 6 sky shards (2 Skill points) and the other was nothing.

If you talk to her, she even says she PREFER to be insane and have books as friends. Releasing her from the madness is not what she wants. So you get no reward. It is the god of madness, picking the wrong choice will make you mad :)

There are only a few quests lines that the wrong answer really matters, this is one of them.

When people make threads about this quest, it's usually not because of not reading dialogues, but rather questionable design. They feel that the rewards are unfair: skill points are a limited resource and the staff is not only replacable, but also completely useless for many characters. They're not even remotely comparable, skill points are obviously much better.

It doesn't really bother me because there's a ton of available points anyway. But I can easily see why others feel skill points shouldn't be locked out like this.

Has zero to do with "not reading".

I was fully expecting to be rewarded with something else AFTER by not choosing to condemn the girl to a life of babbling insanity with a crazy man as her caretaker.

And there really shouldn't be a "wrong" choice.

funny because I have used every single point and 2 more would have been very helpful.

She even says later if you ask her (after you made the choice) she's happy to stay with him - it was the right choice to make.

Yeah - it's pretty bad design all in all. Sure you can go and say that it's a moral dilemma and that the lure of the darkside must offer real benefits or no one would be corrupted by it. But the thing is that, this is a game, a form of entertainment and a game where players can battle one another.

To some the 2 points may not seem much, but to those who also do crafts in addition to pure combat abilities, the loss of those two points are sorely felt. I for one could sure use them quite well right now.

In PVP context - the ones who gave into the the darkside have an edge over me and all others who decided to say no to temptation. And that is annoying.

Remember the teachings of Yoda - The darkside is not supposed to be stronger. It's supposed to be faster and easier, and I'm okay with that. Just add some extra bothersome task we must do to get the true reward from the quest while staying in the light. Those who do not care can give in to temptation and those who do, may find the extra step a bother, but then they will be rewarded with the knowledge that they did the right thing.

As for me - I had to choose saving Valaste, since that's what my character would have done and this is a roleplaying game. And yeah, I know many don't give a whoop about that, but oddly enough, there are roleplayers playing a roleplaying game and this quest is really unfair towards them.

Pretty much this. They need to leave it alone. Moral doesn't always mean you deserve a reward and I'm surprised that there are people that thing that way given that the evil decisions are what usually result in more power throughout every medium there is.

A good deed is its own reward. I understood the consequences of my decision, and in hindsight I would still make the same decision again. What the author of this thread fails to grasp is this. Everyone walked away a winner except those who lamented their decision after the fact.

Those who opted to receive skill points obviously got an immediate reward, but those who decided to stay true to their moral convictions got an even greater reward. Even with the knowledge that doing the right thing would cause us real harm. We still chose to do the right thing even with nobody watching, and with nobody in real jeopardy.

Eventually there will come a time when this game is gone, long forgotten, and utterly irrelevant. We will still have a warm spot in our hearts. That tells us that we are, and can be very good people. You didn't get robbed. You got perhaps the best reward this game had baked into it.

Even now there is still a consolation prize to be had. If you just open your eyes and look closely. This game has taught you a life lesson. Doing the right thing is not always easy, and it usually doesn't come with material rewards. History is a parade of people who did the right thing in spite of dire consequences, and did not even get lauded for those acts in their time. Call them martyrs, heroes, or whatever you like, but doing the right thing rarely pays in material rewards.

The true reward is doing what it takes to make the world a better place for all the people who live in it. I suggest you start thinking in broader terms. Making yourself into a better person. Can be the greatest reward in and of itself.

Hey, at least you aren't cursed to be cheated by Sheogorath like ol' Shali was at a later point in time.
