Do you keep your Gold in the Bank?

The Night's Den has a currency room that fills up according to how much gold a player has. It seems it goes by how much gold is in the account bank, rather than on the individual characters. This made me wonder how players handle their gold.

So do you keep most of your gold in the bank or on your characters? Please comment why.

I keep almost all my gold in the bank.

I keep all my gold in the bank except for 2k per character for things like porting around, repairing, etc..

I find it more convenient because whatever character I am on I can just summon my banker and take what I need without having to log on multiple characters to transfer the gold from one to the other through the bank.

Yes now that I want my vault to look more impressive, and it avoids accidental double-click purchasing something too expensive when I am previewing something.

I usually keep 5 to 25K per character, but only more when it starts to add up and I forget to transfer.

i have most of my gold in my bank. Currently almost 400k gold.

i have 20 characters, i do not use them all every day but when i do i usually do Crafting Writs and put their gold in the bank.
But sometimes i let them keep it for a while so i can put more than 5000 gold in the bank per character.

I deposit all gold into my account bank. The only time individual characters have any gold on them are when they're earning it and haven't deposited it yet, or if they need to withdraw some for a specific reason. I lost some gold a long time ago because I had bounty and ran into guards, so after that I decided to deposit every piece of gold in the bank.

On PTS it was on character and then it got reversed. I requested they let us choose the source because years ago there was a bank erasing bug and I've kept my gold on my characters out of habit ever since. I really wish the house gave us options so players could enjoy the bank visuals regardless of where they keep their gold, or even make it so it checks your accountwide gold (if addons can do this, why can't a house?)

I keep almost all my gold on my characters.

Been here since launch and have an obscene amount of gold as a result. Keep the vast majority of it on my main who does most of my transactions. Keep at least some on my other chars if needed and a buffer in the bank just in case. The bank buffer was/is way above what was needed to max out the den’s vault, apparently.

I keep almost all my gold on my characters.

I‘m not sure if I‘ll ever use my Night‘s Den. So I don‘t bank any more gold than some of my „small“ characters need from time to time (to buy stuff for analyzing etc).
There are several 100k gold on my bank. Almost all of my gold is in my main‘s inventory and I don‘t plan on banking much of it just to make a gold vault in a house look fancy…

I forgot to add that I once bought a lot of stuff I didn't need when my mouse was malfunctioning and double clicking items I just wanted to preview. That is when I first decided to keep it in the bank.

I also like to have it all in one place so I can see just how rich I am.

3rd option: I put the gold gained by my alts in the bank, never the gold of my main. Half of my total gold is on my main. ~50 millions

I keep almost all my gold on my characters.

I usually keep about 200k in the bank for when I have new characters. Otherwise, every character just hangs onto their gold. All sale profits go to my main.

Apparently with 7mio gold the nights den room is already max so this is low for traders. Would be more challenging if it was 500kk so the really successful traders could show off.

I don’t need gold usually, only when a new set with an achievement would be available, I need like 1kk to buy these. Or some housing items. But other than that, I have no use for gold and therefore not even a clue how much I have

It has been confirmed. It's based on the gold in the bank, and there are 10 levels of gold in there, maxing at 7M.

Someone posted their test resuts (can't remember if it was here or on reddit), and it capped out at 7mil. UESP has been updated to mirror the results. There are 10 stages of growth. UESP and ESO Hub slightly differ between the 10k-100k ranges.

50,000 - 99,999 Gold
100,000 - 199,999 Gold
200,000 - 399,999 Gold
400,000 - 749,999 Gold
750,000 - 999,999 Gold
1,000,000 - 2,499,999 Gold
2,500,000 - 3,999,999 Gold
4,000,000 - 6,999,999 Gold
7,000,000+ Gold

I keep almost all my gold on my main. I’ve nicknamed him Mr. Moneybags.

I tried keeping in the bank in the past but my main is the only one who spends big chunks of gold and I got tired of having to go to the bank before shopping sprees.

yeah, need a third option. I keep roughly 150k each character and the rest in the bank. just a habit I got into when I started playing everquest 2.

and it is hard for me to define which character is my main since I like to play all depending on what I am doing.

The majority of my gold stays in my bank. My main dk/char/first char/main crafter however gets some "walking around money" - I keep her above 1 mill but below 2 mill. All other alts (20 chars on this acc) have 100k removed when they hit 115k. Account #2 keeps ALL money in the bank and mails it off to acc one when it hits 3M in the bank (I used to do 5m, but on PCNA, gold is worth more atm).

I keep all my gold in the bank. Mainly because I don't have a singular Main Character. I can be playing on any of several characters depending on my mood, activity, or random happenstance. So keeping it in the bank makes it accessible regardless which character I'm currently logged in with. At the end of any play session, my character deposits any gold they're carrying rounded to the highest 10k increment that can leave a remainder greater than 1k. So any time I log into a character they will have anywhere from 1k - 10,999 gold for incidentals.

I’ve always kept a lot of my gold in the bank, but in preparation for the night market house I loaded up all my characters and moved excess gold into the bank, keeping some on the characters. When I first got my night market house, the graphic showed the gold all the way up almost covering the statue in the back, which appears to be the highest setting. I’ve not taken any gold out of the bank, but last night when I looked in my night market house my gold had reduced a little ways down the statue. I’ve not withdrawn any money out of my bank, so that was odd.

The only time I have any gold in my bank is when my alts stick some of their gold in there to transfer it to my main, who keeps all the gold on him (except the minimal amount I allow my alts to have).

There isn't much need for characters to have gold. Mount upgrades are done and characters can restock playable race style mats for daily writs out of pocket change. Characters keep no more than 10K in their pockets and all AP, Tel Var, and Writ Vouchers go to the Bank before logging off. If someone needs to go shopping, they pull out what they need and put the change back, neatly and with at least four zeroes on the Bank balance (more zeroes is good, but four is the minimum).

Looked at an friends Night den and has around 2.5 millions, still a lot of gold but mostly visible in how much of the statue was visible.

I try not to leave too much gold on my characters. I've heard of a few cases where characters have been corrupted and can no longer log in, no matter how much players complain or beg for help. Of course, these are rare cases. But better safe than sorry.

Are tested by me and are accurate. I added money little by little and double checked the threshold by removing one gold and adding one gold, so the numbers are correct. Except one number. I now see Eden I did a mistake copying one number: 2,490,000 should be 2,499,999. That needs to be fixed.

Edit: no, mistake was not Eden's but mine. I wrote the number wrong in my original mail. But it's fixed now.

I usually keep at most 100k Gold on my character. When my money piles up too much, I deposit it in the bank.

It's kind of like Tel Var. You don't want to keep too much of it on hand because you may lose it. Gold can be lost by being killed by Guards, for instance. Likewise, Tel Var can be lost by dying in the Imperial City. Better safe than sorry!
