Lol (shakes my head)

Staff can check my inbox, I left the mails.

The sellers are just going down a user list in alphabetical order, adding names to it and mass Pm'ing.

Oh and the most awesome part is that now there is a HUGE "notification" in my notification list with their entire message/website links that I can't get rid of. I deleted the conversation but the huge notification remains in my list. Awesome.

Well, eventually the gold sellers will be most of what's left, and then they'll move on to greener pastures in other games.

    So, there's that.

Would be nice if CS would step up quickly to intervene in this recurring problem. Seeing this topic and the copy-pastes it's not a single user that slipped through the system, there's several!

and we cannot do anything about reporting those suckers.

Tonight at Auridon I reported 15 (yes 15) different people spamming the zone chat with similar messages. In addition to another 4 that spammed my email.

Seriously ZoS needs to get a grasp at the issue, or else gold farmers going to be the only people left, and then they will quit also.

The game is great but having gold spammers even at Cyrodiil for haven sake, becomes ridiculous and VERY annoying.

This was an issue a week or so ago as well. Let the mods know, and let them do their thing. Not much we can do on our end, so we have to depend on them to delete/ban those accounts, which I'm sure they will do just like last time.

We'd like to assure you that if the email you received is from community@elderscrollsonline.com, then it is an automated forum notification. These email notifications happen when someone sends you a private message on the forums.

You can change your notifications by going here and selecting Notification Preferences on the left menu bar. This allows you to adjust when you get a forum notification (popup) and when you get emails. It's possible to fully disable either by un-checking all of the categories.

May I mention by the way @ZOS_TristanK‌ that I find the autocomplete functionality of the messaging system a very bad idea? It just makes it incredibly easy for spammers to create full user account name lists in a second! If someone wants to message someone, let them type it themself or copy paste it, this system is just helping out on abusing the system. Also seeing the messages being send, why can freshly created accounts send messages to 50 (or more) users at once? Shouldn't this at least be limited to higher account levels (i.e. 3 stars or so).

There some serious improvements that could and should be made to the forums to at least make it harder for spammers if they manage to come through.

What they need to do it's disable private message to users until rank 2-3, still leaving open the option to message staff at any rank....so frikking simple

That would be an option too ofcourse. Personally I'm questioning the need for private messaging (except for messaging staff) on the forums in any form. I'm really wondering how many people are actually legitimately using it...

Just wondering..is this ever going to be remedied? I'm getting harassed in game on a daily basis with chat spam and in-game mail. The official forums are not even safe. The bots are literally out of control. I realize all of this can't be eradicated 100% but is there something actually in the works to seriously address these issues?

I have seen nothing to date that gives me any indication that ZOS is on top of this. Sending out GMs to ban people in-game is reassuring to see but if their infrastructure is such that they just pop back up minutes later with new accounts it's not really addressing the issue.

There are some things that could be put in place for players as a stop-gap measure at the very least but no steps have been taken. I can think of several off the top of my head:

-Why not give an option to turn off mails and PMs from anyone not on your friends list or in your guild and have it off by default?
-Why not put some sort of limitation on the chat/mail system for people under level 10 or 15?
-Why not put a limit on how many characters can be created in a set amount of time?
-Why not fix the infinite node spawning that's allowing bots to easily collect mats without even moving?
-Why not put a player flagging system in place that allows players in game to flag bots/spammers and if they reach a certain threshold of flags get moved to their own spammer/bot phase that is separate from other players? Then GMs can investigate any players moved there and determine if they should be banned.

I hate that we might have to resort to some drastic measures but at this point drastic measures are absolutely required because the bot war is being lost and players are the ones losing which means ZOS will end up losing as well.
