Maintenance for the week of May 25:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – May 25
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – May 27, 6:00AM EDT (10:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EDT (20:00 UTC)

14 hour maintenance on Monday? Did I read that right?

It might give you the chance to look at some of the other games that aren't held together with chewing gum and piano wire. I've never seen so much maintenance in what should be a solid game by now.

They should just merge the consoles and leave PC out of it.

While I agree with that, the problem is that most of the comparatively few players who want crossplay are console players wanting to switch to PC without having to buy the game again and start from scratch. If ZOS had been able to offer free account transfers from console to PC there wouldn't have been calls for crossplay.

My concern is for those console players who don't want to get involved in crossplay but will end up being very lonely on console.

Meanwhile it's clear from the announcement that we're all going to have to put up with a lot of additional crossplay-related downtime over many months - quite possibly a year or more - before crossplay goes live, assuming it does.

Isn't the point of crossplay is that all populations are combined? Not to just have chunk of console population leave consoles for PC server via transfer?

Yeah I can't stress how much more I'd rather have a stable game than cross-play.

I really do not understand what all the whining is about cross play. Some of the best pvpers and pvers use controller, and some dont even use addons except for the odd one here or there. So this is just whining for the sake of whining.

It is a win win situation across the board.

    I play on PS/NA.

I sell stuff on guild traders. I have looked up prices on PC versus PS. Order of magnitude differences for some items. Stuff just costs more on PC. Including the prices to win a trader spot. The guilds I belong to will go broke quickly trying to afford the bid price for a trader spot. And I have seen folks post "Oh, just join all new guilds once the ones you belong to now fold". Doesn't sound like win win to me.

Oh, and the gold I have banked now is plenty to cover me playing on PS, but I understand it would be considered chump change on PC. So, I get to grind gold until I catch up. Doesn't sound like win win to me.

Groups that I do trials with mostly use PlayStation Network (PSN) voice chat. Because the ESO built in voice chat can be "glitchy", while the PSN voice chat usually just works. How does this work with cross play? Maybe PSN voice chat will connect with PC players voice chat and Xbox players voice chat. What if it doesn't?

And I could keep going, but this is already a wall of text.

Solution is simple: convert all your gold in items before transfer and sell the items when you are on PC server.

Having 3 MMO's to play is a advantage at times like this. Even though ESO is my first choice I am quite happy playing SWTOR or GW2. So now the downtime is not so painful, in fact it's a good thing as it seems to prevent burn-out.

[snip] disabling vengeance already? Can’t we just leave it as a secondary campaign? I mean I guess it was a little average. Interesting concept though

It will be a permanent feature (and the main campaign) starting with Update 50 on June 8. Only Vengeance and Gray Host will be available.

ZOS has said that if performance warrants it, Gray Host will be removed to compensate, though that is not their preferred option.

Did I miss the poll on who wants cross-play? Perhaps it's about time ZOS really does find out what the entire community wants...or have they been doing that & I've been missing the polls these past few years?

in this case it really doesnt matter what the community wants, the game needs crossplay in this landscape.

Apologies...stupidly thought what the 'majority' of players wanted in the game might matter...thankfully plenty of great content to enjoy. Just hope we don't get more bugs and longer and longer maintenance as a result.

Although I personally have no need for crossplay, since I play on PC and the populations on PCNA and PCEU are decent, the people who play on console have been begging for crossplay for years. And to be honest, it will be nice to be able to finally play alongside console-only players who I've watched playing ESO on Twitch or read posts from in these forums, so that will be cool-- when it happens, which won't be this year. So it's good that this is actively being worked on.

Not all ppl. In no way shape or fashion do I want cross play.

Well I never wanted cross play, means nothing to me on PC-NA, it is just after 5pm here and the server is not back for 14hrs......

Such a massive downtime just gives me more reason to go back to watching TV of an evening, this is getting ridiculous the amount of down time ESO has.

I don't think ZOS wants that either, unless they can make it 'someone else's responsibility' to moderate/police.

Setting up VC moderation on PC to a standard that would be acceptable to PSN/XBox is not trivial.

Lucky for me I live in Eastern time and play on the EU server, so it is coming back at Noon.
During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

That is a matter of opinion. I am personally against crossplay because I have yet to see any online game go crossplay that doesn't result in consoles getting the short end of the stick. And as someone who plays on PSNA I see no need for it as our population is just fine and thriving.

Unfortunately, those of us who feel this way have no choice in the matter. So the best we can hope for is that ZOS gets it right, and nails it on the first attempt. Anything less, and the end result could very well be catastrophic.

I see these forums complaining about low populations from everything from dungeons to the smaller Cyrodiil campaigns which will now include vengeance as well as a smaller Cyrodiil map and Greyhost

PCNA and EU are much more populated than console variants yet even then the queues for dungeons unless you’re a tank and healer is still atrocious

I understand why feathers were ruffled here but it’s still a factual statement, it’s needed for the longevity of the game. If Zos is finally knuckling down to get it done, you know it’s the case.
Zos then: Vengeance is just a test bro

Zos now: Do you want Vengeance permanent or permanent...

There will be growing pains, but the fact that we will have more players means a healthier game. And you can always recruit new members into YOUR guilds. Yeah market prices will adjust, but it wont automatically make everything more expensive. If people can get it cheaper from your guilds, that is a win for you.

Voice chat is a bit more tricky, but if that is really your argument against cross play, that is just silly and can be figured out. Again, the most important thing is a healthy game. And cross play has always made populations healthier.

And with the gold, again, you wouldnt have to grind gold, the guilds from PS and XB are not going to up and vanish over night, you will be bringing cheaper prices to the table, so prices will ADJUST.

Just seems like complaining for the sake of complaining, while not thinking things through.

My household has 4 Xboxes, 3 PCs, and 2 PlayStations. We live and breathe crossplay and I love this. Just wish account merging was possible because my wife has toons on PC and Xbox. June 2 I think the play anywhere bit goes live but still on Xbox servers, looking forward to it so I can sell my Xbox as this is the last game keeping me tied to Xbox.

As for the pvp stuff, a lot of PC players use controllers for ESO, there is not a large gap like in FPS. FPS games have gone crossplay and are still pretty competitive between KBM and controllers in casual play outside of tournament play.
