Next New Zone?

Where do you want to visit next?

The Ruby Isles - Also called Imperial Island, City Isle, or the Eight Islands, this includes the island immediately surrounding Imperial City & a few small adjacent islands. With Cyrodiil at war and the Imperial City under siege, this little slice of forgotten territory is perfectly positioned to serve as a future Event Zone with its own dynamics, or as a direct expansion of Imperial City with the same Tel Var PvP dynamic.

Soltheim - We've been there before, but let's go back again! Perhaps we can get a Werebear skill style.

Central Skyrim - Fill in the rest of that gap! College of Winterhold + the Pale. Maybe some expansion of Frost elf lore.

Shivering Isles - The realms of Mania and Dementia offer the perfect place for PvP Battle Royale, each with their own uniquely maddening rulesets.

Hammerfell - The perfect zone to release in conjunction with ES6. Expect heavy lore cross-over, maybe even character cross-overs.

Soul Cairn - We could learn more about the Ideal Masters, and maybe pick up some new Soul Magic.

Black Marsh - Lots of space left here: Soulrest, Helstrom, Thorn, Gideon, Archon. Up to South Deshaan.

Central Elsweyr - The Tenmar Forest between Northern and Southern Elsweyr. Potential home of some endangered beast races.

Falinesti - This one is tricky, but not impossible. Since the city has been taken by someone (Rajhin, Molag Bal, Mephala, who knows?) we could find it in Coldharbour or some other realm. Our completion of the storyline would simply ensure the city's "future return" to Nirn, simplifying implementation.

I think Winterhold (? I could have that wrong) may be the next one and it's not considered a new 'zone'.
I doubt we will ever see new zones like we used to again.

    We already know it's Winterhold.

And to be honest, I have no specific wish for a region before I've seen if the writing quality has improved now that they're not releasing a big zone every year. I don't want to see a region I find specifically interesting being wasted.

I don't think it was ever confirmed to be Winterhold, just "Northern Skyrim". Isn't Solstheim Skyrim territory at this point?

I really would like to see Falinesti, especially if they could improve on the tree-as-city design. Elden Root doesn't really seem like we're up in a tree when we're inside it--it feels too enclosed.

The implication in Bloodmoon was that it was inhabited by various Nordic barbarians and the Skaal but not formally ruled until the Empire claimed it.

Really stoked to be seeing Winterhold and potentially The Pale.

Other than that, the things that didn't make OP's list that I'd love to see:
    Jehanna and the Western Reach
    Blacklight/Velothi Highlands
    Alabaster
    Helgen/Falkreath Hold/Pale Pass

They literally said that one of the things they wanted to test was trying different experiences for players, like: “dragons in X place instead of Y” (probably some kind of dynamic event coming at some point), higher world difficulty (challenge difficulty), and lower dungeon difficulty (the new solo dungeon mode), and they wrapped it up with a “and, what’s up with Winterhold?”

    b8p8lbn9peon.png

Then this year they said we’re going to Skyrim early next year, with snowstorms (and, conveniently, Winterhold is one of the snowiest regions in Skyrim)… and the city is literally called WINTERhold, lol.

I don’t think there’s ANY chance we’re not going to Winterhold.

And remember, they said it’s going to be an explorable zone, but different from what we currently know as a “zone.” It’ll probably have a stronger focus on puzzles, traversal challenges, rumors, and special dynamic events. At least, that’s my bet—a zone that concentrates all these new changes they’re bringing to the game, instead of relying on ESO’s old formula.

    Shivering Isles
Shivering Isles is one of TES' most iconic settings to me and I'd love to see it again. The fact that in the lore it has a cyclical nature of being destroyed and rebuilt would also give the devs a lot of creative freedom with how it would look in the Second Era.

The TES IV instance was supposed to be at the end of a thousand-year cycle, and ESO is set only half that far back. But it would still make sense for some of SI's ruins to be newly built, There's also a lot of timber building that doesn't last long, and camps that are even more transient.

I also got the impression from the Oblivion version that Sheo liked to put things back where they belonged after Jyggy moved out.

I'm going to get burned for this, I'm sure, but I'm so tired of Skyrim. I get that it's one of the biggest TES games and that it's the most recent. I also get that it was the introductory TES for tons of people, but it's just feels so overused at this point. I'm just so bored of that area. In ESO it always feels stale and sparse. I thought Makarth was amazing, but it just feels like ground so firmly covered.

Winterhold, Dawnstar, Solstheim... Anything with snow, really; that's what I want.

What I'm scared of is: I DON'T WANT to have non-permanent zones. I want snow and I want to be able to visit my snowy areas with no limits.

I think it's just the opposite - they avoided Hammerfell for 10 years and they will continue to avoid it precisely because TES VI is going to be in Hammerfell, to avoid messing with it.

Anywhere that tES games haven't been to this century would be great.

Obviously my goto "I wanna go there" is Hammerfell, but realistically anywhere but Skyrim please. There's a whole game about that area that most people have played to death so let's go somewhere new thanks.

I tend to agree. I really find it hard to think they'd want to create something that's highly likely to be contradicted to a large degree by Bethesda's vision. The fact that they've apparently avoided it for this long seems to support those misgivings.

As an aside, it also makes me wonder how ZOS will come to terms with current areas like Alik'r and Southern Bangkorai which are likely not going to match what we see in Bethesda's treatment.

    Hammerfell
I mainly picked Hammerfell because it has the least and I want to see more Hammerfell. Don't think it's an excuse that TES VI is likely taking place there, because ESO was worked on at the same time as Skyrim with appearing zones. It takes place almost a millenia apart and like, just communicate?

But I'm all for filling out and also correcting the Tamriel map (it has so many lore errors, like removal of the Velothi Mountains and the Redoran territory).

Falinesti, borders of Black Marsh and the Dres territory, Nibenay with Bravil and Mir Corrup, central Elsweyr etc. Pretty much everything that is not a different plane or more Skyrim (but I know that's what we're likely going to get).

But most of all, I want better writing and lore implementation. If we can't get that then I don't want any at all and see those places bland/ruined.

If Winterhold doesn't cover, I suppose "central" Skyrim - Whiterun, Rorikstead, Falkreath etc, then Central Skyrim.
