Weekly Challenges award inconsistent Tome Points

I was talking with a friend and we realised that my weekly challenges awarded 175 less Tome Points than hers. As an experiment, I rerolled one of my lower rewarding point challenges and it went up in total value. Also, her 200 point challenge can be claimed 3 times, whereas mine can only be claimed twice. There doesn't seem to be any consistency here. Surely this means some players will receive thousands less Tome Points than others by the end of the season. I would have expected the challenges to be of a fixed difficulty and reward, ie 3 easy challenges for 70 points x times, 1 medium challenge for 125 points y times, and 1 hard challenge for 200 points z times. That way everyone can receive the same amount of Tome Points without gambling on their rerolls.

Is this really working as intended?

Yes, I brought this up on pts and Jessica indicated it was intentional.

You would think it would be easy to do something like
    600×1
    300x2
    200x3
    150x4
    120x5
    100x6

So that you can have different difficulties while still adding up to the same total, but this is not what they chose

My friend and I compared as well, and he was able to get 170 more points right off the bat. I experimentally used re-rolls and now I get even less than before. It's a frustrating design.

    My challenges before re-roll:

    Mine after re-rolls:

Would like to hear from devs why.

I just don't care about the point amount. I don't want want to be required to do any PVP or group content. I wish there was a way to opt out of getting certain challenges, regardless of the points awarded.

We'll be able to purchase more rerolls for Gold in Update 50. Until then, we have to live with the free rerolls we get each week to replace challenges we don't want to do.

    Rest in Peace:
    The Dragonknight
    2014-2025

This commemoration is for the class that has constantly been plundered and dismantled by designers for no obvious reason while other classes continue to have coherent skill lines and feel both powerful and cool.

I'd love to opt out of challenges too. No one does does dungeons or trials anymore unless you're in a dedicated guild XD

I can't begin to tell you how wildly inaccurate this statement is. I'm almost stunned.

As for the challenges. Zos borrowed heavily from fallout 76 for their pass. I wish they would've also done the same with the challenge points. All challenges award the same points. Then you can use your rerolls to try to get an epic challenge, which is worth more and requires a bit more effort. But this is what we got. I like the small medium and large challenge idea though.
I kinda also think it was a mistake to have it be all weeklies. I think small offerings of dailies would've been a benefit. It would give players a daily gameplay loop. Most of these weeklies are easy and done in an afternoon if one is so inclined. Thankfully, I'm not inclined but I can understand.

I guess we'll just have to see what changes they might make. They've already shown themselves open to changing stuff.
