Playing the Story Chronological order?

Is it possible without going insane? Any addons that might help with it? I always tried before, but always picked up wrong dlc/expansion quests on adventures and mess up haha. Not always easy way to find out.

Actually that is what I am currently doing! I even have a excel spreadsheet to help organize everything lol This link I use pretty often. It has every DLC and chapter in order of release date: https://eso-hub.com/en/dlc

Alliance/ base game of course goes first, and concludes with the Cadwell's Gold quest (not sure which alliance you are so I dont know which alliance zones it will end for you). Before any DLC or chapters I always make sure to check to see if they require a prologue quest and which NPC gives it to me. I dont like grabbing them from the store.

I have not started yet. I was thinking trying the updated Dragonknight class and just starting 100% fresh. More direction is better, medically I become a little stupid in recent years (Kidney failure) and caused some brain fog. If you don't mind I love to have a copy of the spreesheet, not sure if it can be uploaded to google drive or anything.

    Thanks :)

Perhaps a controversial take here, but there is no chronological order to speak of in the game. There is this idea of playing in release order, but here's the "chronology" of the game:

    1. Elsweyr Prologue
    2. Almost everything else; except that the "Secrets of Apocrypha" story does have a temporal sequence: prologue - Necrom - prologue - Gold Road - epilogue.
    3. Seasons of the Worm Cult

I'm very much a "play how you want" kind of Khajiit, but am just pointing out that any claims of "chronological order" outside of those three is head-canon.

I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I do understand that, More like chronological to the technical releases of the content and not in the RP sense of when it happen in game :) Also nothing wrong with your point of view, people should be aware of it :)

U50 will actually be adding a basegame "this story takes place after [other story]" indicator so you will know how it goes.

In general though, you can do everything in release order:
    1. Basegame alliances starting in Bleakrock, Stros m'Kai, or Khenarthi's Roost, and then the stories will lead you through the basegame zones in order. This also includes the Mages and Fighters guilds and the Main Quest. Cadwell's will then take you through the other two basegame alliances
    2. Hew's Bane, Gold Coast, Wrothgar
    3. Vvardenfell, Clockwork City, Summerset
    4. Murkmire
    5. Northern then Southern Elsweyr
    6. Western Skyrim then the Reach
    7. Blackwood then the Deadlands
    8. High Isle then Galen
    9. Telvanni Peninsula then West Weald
    10. Solstice

I wrote this down some time ago after reading multiple threads about continuity and spoilers:

You can also use the DLC tab in the crown store as a kind of timeline helper, shame they removed year 1 however.

The DLC overview table on UESP is another presentation of the same chronology-by-release information as others have posted, also indicating which story arc each DLC is part of, including the dungeons.

I prefer to play them in release order because that's how the devs 'developed' the game. However, with my new character, I'm going to do things a bit out of order... I honestly love to finish the MSQ but at the same time I hate it... because then it makes the aspect of Dark Anchors in the world seem stupid. Once we finish the MSQ, then 'to us' the Dark Anchors should no longer appear. But even then, it also changes the Molag Bal's voiceover and it just sounds stupid IMO. I mean, we beat him, his mechanism for the Dark Anchors have been destroyed, AND we closed his access to Nirn. YET... here we are... still fighting Dark Anchors all across Tamriel.

I would love to help! But my spreadsheet I made is based around my own goals and achievement stuff too added in there, which would make it more confusing then actually helpful to anyone else trying to use it lol

Found it! https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/525351/a-clear-step-by-step-guide-to-playing-eso-in-chronological-order#latest Try this instead, it is far more easier to understand then what I made and a lot more easier on the eyes. XD

I really like an addon called The Questing Guide. It shows - via numbers and check marks - which stories you done and in what order to do them. It also shows dungeons and trials.

You can easily check release order by going to antiquity codex. However this does not help with dungeons.
