Shattered Path Signet - bad precedent…

Instead of having a strong interaction between Glacial Presence and Shattered Path Signet, they just won’t work together at all?

I’m sorry, but what kind of precedent are we setting here?

In the future will there be more gear and balance changes made to exclude rather than compliment?
Dragon Priest [Restoring Light, Draconic Power, Grave Lord]
Death Knight [Grave Lord, Winter’s Embrace, Siphoning]
Pyromancer [Ardent Flame, Dawn’s Wrath, Earthen Heart]
Summoner [Living Death, Grave Lord, Daedric Summoning]
Ranger [Animal Companions, Green Balance, Shadow]
Druid [Earthen Heart, Animal Companions, Stormcalling]
Elementalist [Stormcalling, Winter’s Embrace, Ardent Flame]
Dawnguard [Dawn’s Wrath, Restoring Light, Ardent Flame]

I don’t want to have to navigate around red tape when theorycrafting builds in this game.

    I just won’t do it.

I understand the concern but the alternative as I see it is yet another oppressive meta because zos didnt catch something.

    What is another alternative?

The dev commentary explicitly says this is a very specific change, and is going to be reviewed later. It's a bandaid.

Better a bandaid, than leaving issues unfixed with the excuse that "Warden refresh is coming soon, so why bother"
"According to the calculations of the sages of the Cult of the Ancestor Moth, the batam guar is the cutest creature in all Tamriel"

I’m concerned that the Warden setup with Shattered Path was nerfed in both places - Glacial Presence is disabled entirely, and the Shattered Path itself is half as effective when the bear is up. We’ll have to see how everything works out in practice once PTS is up, but on paper this seems very heavy-handed.

This was a unique setup that played into a particularly class’s strengths to do something different. It would be a tragedy if this gets nerfed to the ground and we’re back to “eh, guess you better like Arcanist”.

Definitely this precedent is MEGA-SUS and should be reverted.

Also very aggravating that these sorts of Frankenbalancing schemes always seems to happen to Warden.

I've said it since it was announced, this mythic has terrible design from top to bottom. They've chosen to inflate the damage budget due to requiring high ultimate and a curse via Minor Timity, but they've made it so punishing/rewarding that the best case scenario is to never cast your ultimate to get 100% of the rewards and nearly no drawbacks. It just so happens that Warden's bear ultimate's main positive was the passive damage, not its cast, so it made it a match made in heaven.

This patch, the mythic isn't even available yet, and they've decided to lock out Warden instead of addressing the core issue of the mythic which I find rather simple to fix.

    Here is an example:

"Gain Chaos Initiate causing Light and Heavy Attacks to apply a random status effect, up to once every 4 seconds, and increases your damage done with status effects by +25%

When you cast an ultimate, gain Chaos Incarnate for 1 second per 10 ultimate spent, granting Light and Heavy Attacks to apply a random status effect, up to once every 1 second, and increases your damage done with status effects by +100%.

Only 1 of these effects can be active at a time. Applies Minor Timidity to you, consuming 1 Ultimate every 1.5 seconds while in combat."

Effectively keeps the core gameplay the same, buffs status effects, grants random status effects, rewards high ultimate but requires you to spend it, while making ult harder to build for. Main difference is you always get a bonus, but it's improved by 4x for a limited time when you spend ultimate, this way it doesn't reward you for sitting on ultimate indefinitely effectively removing a skill slot from your bar. The high end is brought down dramatically so it potentially doesn't need to be reduced in pvp or locked out of any class.

The values could be tinkered with. Maybe the multiplier starts at 40% and you only get 2x cooldown and power during ultimate spent, maybe it's 2s per 10 ultimate, etc. Point stands, there is a much better way to design this set then what's there.

Okay, so I’m hearing that it will be reverted.
    Great!

Shattered Path Signet was THE Night Market chase item, and now it’s dead for (at least) 3 months out of a fear of it overperforming… yet Dragonknight gets to rip through people for an entire 6 months, exclusively.

My question still remains, what precedent is this setting?…

This mythic was the main driving force for participating in this event for me, and it’s effectively DOA for the build I made for it.

    Hope you guys have fun.

Just play DK LOL. Flame Lash is crazy. Gotta wait for the class reworks to play the other classes. I tried shattered path on PTS and its super mid.

Has the change regarding Glacial Presence been removed from the patch notes?

The Glacial Presence change is not present on PTS; it looks like it was removed in time. The pet nerf on the mythic is still there.

I did a quick parse for comparison purposes. Using pure Warden with the dps boosting class masteries, I was getting the same general ballpark with the mythic as I was on the previous PTS. This seems to be a definite nerf for subclassing builds but neutral to positive overall if you switch back to pure class.
