Hi everyone! It’s time for a new Loremaster’s Archive! The Curator is stepping up to share their knowledge about the Night Market. From patrons, districts, items, etc., anything Night Market is on the table. Submit your questions on these topics between now and April 13, and we’ll select a few for the Curator to answer in the next several weeks.*

*Note that we cannot answer all your questions on these topics, and, of course, we will endeavor to avoid spoilers for the Night Market.

Will feedback from the new Tomes and Weekly UI be used to improved the Night Market UI? The new Tomes and Weekly UI felt off for many folks and some features was hidden or un-clear or just outright missing.

    Greetings,
    Dearly Honored Curator,

How extensive is the Night Market's selection of items? I've been on the lookout for those amazing Half-Hatched creatures for my collection for a long time; and I'm really curious just how bizarre this place is in terms of potential treasures, so I can hope for an unexpected find alike an egg with legs or other whimsical items

Thank you for your attention! And for a possible answer! And for your kind attention!

In The True Nature of the Night Market by Tosmar, the Market is theorized to be a convergence of different planes, bringing together objects from outside our known reality. Given that, how should we interpret the Portrait of Emperor Morihaus the Usurper, a work auctioned by House Malenel, depicting him usurping Alessia? Since it was recovered from one of the Market's districts, could it originate from and represent an alternative reality, or is it simply an inaccurate or fictionalized work?

    P.S. What is House Malenel?

O Curator of the Market, tell me how you deal with Fargrave’s major powers. What of the fearsome Quath, patron of the Saraathu Tong; Whim, the secret-dealer; and the rulers of the Shambles, Shaermeta, Kezo, and Enzir? And what of the seemingly immortal Pieron Desant? Do they often trade with you and the folk of the Market?

    Esteemed Curator,

As I hear the districts around the Starlit Plaza come-and-go with time - how much is for sale? Are the flamepitchers merely decorative, or do they work for personal defense? Any adachimelic holding-tendrils for acquisition perhaps? Or the inhabitants - are they all competitors, or might some be viable as assets once they outlast their utility? For instance, I've long sought to acquire a Walking Nightmare - so if some of the creatures would otherwise simply vanish, perhaps a custodian would be willing to sell one? I'm most eager for a mutually profitable visit!

Please extend my regards to Tachien and Nymisasha. The "Goad" demonstrates a rare clarity of purpose which I value - and I intend to visit at first opportunity.

    Warmest,
    - Lash gra-Bar, Runomantic Liason and Appraiser

Why are the loremaster archives being released before even the content releases? I have no good questions to ask about the night market, because I haven't even been in it to see what's going on.
It's three factions in fargrave that are... fighting for something(?) Do you want me to ask this Curator person why the factions are doing what they are doing? I feel like that is going to be explained in the game. Hopefully.

Not everyone has access to the PTS, nor wants to watch and spoil story content before they can play the launch. And sometimes even the lore from the PTS gets changed before launch!

I guess I can ask "Why are mortals getting involved in this daedric feud?"

    To the Esteemed Curator,

The name itself inspires curiosity in me: the Night Market. Who gave it that name and why? Does it have anything to do with Nocturnal, the Daedric Prince of Night?

My questions about the Night Market are many, but I doubt you or I have the time for them all so I will be brief and pointed. Have any remnants of the pathfinders been found in all this time such as objects or journals across the various districts? Are there any records of prior districts or Opulents you have available for study? Finally, what is the nature of the inhabitants of the districts? Is the appearance of familiar beings an illusion or something more?

I invoke the name Narilaz Keth. The Thousand Eyes see you, interloper. You do not belong to this fateline. Tell me: was your world already broken when you left it?

Molto bears the rat king as his sign, and his tail is tangled to match. Was he once part of such a thing—and if so, for how many eons?

In my mortal lifespan, I will see the Night Market but a handful of times. Tell me, Curator, what wonders have you witnessed here over the course of your long vigil?

    Greetings.

I write to you on the behalf of my superiors. I was tasked with researching lore and history of the Night Market. Despite reading many reports and books I fail to understand what kind of services and goods is Night Market offering. I understand that currently area itself looks very similar to what is happening in central Cyrodiil right now, but if you could provide me with some information about what kind of services Night Market used to offer or at least less known history of the aera, I would be very grateful.

    With respect

A small question oh horned one,

What happens to the creatures and beings in the Night Market when the districts close? Do they only exist in that strange state of being as we encounter them? Or do the regions return to their original versions of Fargrave fully intact with the inhabitants being in-turn, returned to a state of normalcy?

Also if you could pass a question on the leader of the Ruckus, is it true you accept Beastfolk of all stripes? Asking for a friend.

The entire NIghtMarket concept, mechanics, rewards remind me alot of D&D'S NEVERWINTER ONLINE Feywild and seasonal festival event adventure zones.

Does the NightMarket concept have any origins in OG TES lore as well?

Curator... or should I say Narilaz Keth- I call upon you... is this thing on? Ryn promise- Ah! It's on.

I see you, Keth, shrouded in Fargrave's chaos & mystery; the rumors shadowing your origins- of fatelines (a "new wave" manner of saying shadow realms, of course... kids these days). Is your chosen name, Keth, a coincidence? Or do you bear some familiarity to certain Incarnations of War- Shadows of Conflict that I've read of in shadowed scrolls?

Answer me, or I shall take an answer myself from your dying breaths.

    Curator,

I hope this letter finds you well. I have heard rumor of quite a few unique items that have been found when the Market was last opened. I am curious what are some of the most interesting items that you have seen recovered from the Night Market? Have any interesting books crossed your many paths that might peak my interest?

Exalted Curator of Curios, in the spirit of the Night Market, I come to you with a more unique request; a barter, if you will.

I have recently come into possession of a number of curious gleaming shards of glass from the Daedric incursions in the West Weald, and I am led to believe these would be of a special interest to you. In return for these shards, I request information on the archaic history of the realm of Deadlight— shattered at the hands of Mehrunes Dagon— which served as a staging ground during the Fargrave-Deadlands conflict.

I await your response eagerly, you know where to find me,

I agree with this too - how are we to know what questions might come up before even experiencing the content..I always find I have lots of questions after playing the content..but by then the loremaster archives are over..so my question is, with respect Curator, will there be another such of this at a later date?

Edit: I do want to mention though that I really appreciate these archives from a loremaster because it allows a return to this archive to see if some of these questions that were answered helps in making sense of what might come up as a question to me as well after doing the content..

    Greetings Curator,

I have come to understand that this “Night Market” frequently disappears and yet is filled with inhabitants. What happens to individuals within the Night Market when the doors close?

I have also heard that there is a ranking system of those who we “mortals” would deem enemies, with “Brazen”, “Argent”, “Gilded”, and “Opulent” titles. What does one have to do to become someone of rank?

If a title-holder were to be in the form of an enemy we know has been vanquished, yet is not of Vestige essence (i.e. a lamia or a shalk), then is this evidence that the inhabitants are a form of doppelgänger, like those within the Infinite Archive? If so, what could they be made of in place of ink?

    Greetings Curator,

Over the years of my study, I have noticed that Daedric Princes often stage conquests over planes of Oblivion for the purpose of expanding their holdings. Have there been any notable invasions by any Princes (or Lesser Daedra) seeking to enter and seize the Night Market for their exclusive control? If I had to guess, I would expect Mehrunes Dagon would have such ambitions.

    Curator/Person/Entity-

The nature of the Night Market seems as though it would attract a LOT of attention whenever it show up. The likes of the Tharn and Telvanni are known to be drawn to potential power whenever an opportunity presents, but who has been among the most notable patrons to date. And don't say Divayth Fyr. He's been everywhere, his presence would hardly count as surprising.

Nah, I just want to buy a new Breton. Does the Night Market sell Bretons? The last one I bought at the Sadrith Mora market was defective after just three days (Never going to buy from those s'wits ever again!)! Now I have to test my newly invented catapult by other means - how annoying!

Why does the Night Market have such horrible opening hours, by the way? Even that dirty tavern in Balmora opens all year round, despite its owner being a skooma addict! Ah, right; of course it does. She's a Hlaalu.

It's never really day in Fargrave. Which makes it even stranger, since if it's night all the time anyway, why mention it to be a night market? Unless they sell night. In bags, or so :p

    Curator,

The existence of the Night Market has become something of concern to our little organization… Specifically as it pertains to the Grasp of the Stricture’s hold on this operation.

I imagine plenty of mortals (like myself) view the Night Market as chance to earn coin as far as the eye can see. Always, it comes with a price; are the mortals flocking to the market struggling with the Drain? How is Redmaiden landing in the hands of those that are? For a mortal-dominant faction like the Ruckus, is there an even higher Daedric pact keeping them protected from inevitable madness?

I would not dare to pry so deeply into Kharakhal’s past, mind you. A mortal succumbing to the Drain is a tragic thing no matter who they bear allegiance to.

To the one known as The Curator,

There are gaps in the world that should not exist. Places that operate beyond the reach of order. How does The Night Market, and even Fargrave, evade the gaze of the Battlespire? Are these realms truly hidden or simply ignored by The Imperial Battlemages? I find it hard to believe that my colleagues would ignore the temptation of power one could obtain from such a place.

    I await for your response.

Farewell, knowledgeable Curator of the Night Market,

I have a fair few things I could off in exchange for such information, of course!

During my many travels, I have heard that you once walked through multitudinous pathways before settling here. We are alike in this regard, if those traded secrets were not deceptions, so this traveler wonders if you might have information on a most perplexing matter, or could point to places where such knowledge could be found. In my Apocryphal journeys, I discovered a puzzling book amidst the endless piles titled N'Gasta! Kvata! Kvakis!, and after many trades, discovered that it was in the language of the Sload (although there were some minor differences in spelling between the texts, perhaps from linguistic evolution between their times). However, a few terms remained impossible to translate properly, even after conceding that several others were simply names; the one that stood out the most was the word "interreta/interreto" (assuming they are the same meaning, akin to similar cases in Ta'agra). From the context, it seems to be some kind of magic or technology that allows for rapid dissemination of information to many people, as if a magical projection of a book or letter could be manifested for many recipients at once, and yet this is somehow easier for them than writing, even with a printing press (I believe we are currently after the invention of that, at least)! Do you or any of your patrons have any secrets to share about this? Have any of the doors you may have possible seen through had anything like this? I must know what Thras is hiding! And if such machinations are too valuable to elucidate in this manner, then I would at least like to know if the Night Market has any sellers of some quite interesting metallic organizational furniture I once observed in the Spire, or if any current doors might lead to some.

I have roamed far and wide through the realms, and have come to your corner of Fargrave for assistance in the following matter.

    Warm Greetings,
    - Marunai, Searcher in the Dark

(I hope this made sense made this hope I)
