When an enemy lights you on fire, would you want to be able to put out that fire by jumping into water?

When you light an enemy on fire, should the enemy be able to put out the fire by jumping into water?

Yes and no. If that would be a general mechanic, then other effects should have it, too. Chilled negated with standing near fire, Concussion (from shock damage) negated with standing in... um... rubber? Haemorrhaging cured by... um... standing near cloth wraps?

But technically that could be done with the existing code. City of Ash 1 final boss has this mechanic. When you are on fire, go swimming.

Not important to me at all. I'd rather they save computing power, or whatever it is they're trying to save, for our skills and for reverting the disastrous changes they made to our animations.

Is not this already a mechanic in City of Ash dungeon?

Well, it works this way on the last boss of City of Ash 1 dungeon.

If you mean adding it as a PvP mechanic, that would require a Cyrodiil map refresh. Otherwise, attackers would have a real advantage sieging some keeps from swamps/ponds.

Also, I guess it might add some unwanted load to servers. Technically, it would require additional checks server-side while the character is moving, and this is a lot.

Whilst this would be good the problem is where do you stop.

In some RPGs using an effect on something of a similar element actually strenghtens the enemy. Like casting a fireball at a fire based being would at least heal said being or give it more powers.

Therein lies the issue. There's no way on earth you could code every option there is available.

If I'm both burning and chilled, should they negate each other as well, then?

I think if you're standing in it just up to your ankles, you should remain on fire. Sounds like the OP is referring to actual swimming.

Yes, I am referring to the swimming state, where you cannot use abilities. You can jump into a body of water and still be on fire, which is counterintuitive.

If they wanted to add such a dynamic immersive mechanic, they shouldn't start with complex environmental interactions, but with giving Ezabi new comments for each type of item you deposit. As well as giving her new lines of gossip while you look at your bank, every patch.
