I for example only care about cosmetics and often need to select stuff i dont really care about to unlock the next pages....so the requirements too progress always feel a little bit too high?

You unlock pages by earning, not by spending, tome points.

There is no need to spend any points until you unlock something you want.

You don’t need to spend points to unlock the pages, only to earn them. You’re expected to do a lot of stuff over three months though, so it will probably work out.

There is a report that unspent points will autobuy at the end of the month, but we don’t know how exactly that works yet.

The pages also unlock without purchasing anything on earlier pages. You just need to obtain a certain number of points during the season to unlock them - no need to spend them to unlock. So if you want, you could just buy something from page 4, for example, without needing to buy anything from earlier pages.

But, the point tresholds for unlocking pages are still off. Not sure how it is with the premium tome, as I only have the free tome. There, you need about 20k points to unlock all 12 pages - but if you'd actually buy every single item from those 12 pages, you'd only spend about 16k points. So if you have everything the tome offers, you have 4k left. 2k carry over to next season, but what's with the rest?! Seems to be wasted, in any case. It's not possible either to claim offers more than once.

The point of having to unlock pages is to not let us have what we want on day 1 and make us grind some weeklies for a while. I don't like it but I get that it's part and parcel with a system like this. But I think 1500 per page instead of 2000 would have accomplished this goal just as well while giving people a bit more leeway to not do as many weeklies.

If you spend tome points to unlock something on like... page 1, does that count against you for unlocking pages further down the line that need X tome points to unlock?

No, it's is points earned. Spending neither benefits nor harms your unlock progress.

So you can just unlock all the pages and you will have enough tomes to get everything? This can't be right.

Why not? People calculated how mush you need to unlock all free pages (about 20K IIRC) and how much you need to spend to get everything from them (about 16K). So, you will have some leftover. But only 2000 of extra points are carried over to the next season.

    For the free track, yes.

If you earn the 20,000 points required to unlock all the pages, you will have more than enough tome points to get everything on the free track. Even if you roll lower-TP challenges for your weeklies, you should still be able to get those 20,000 by the end of the season between weekly and seasonal challenges. You would then lose 2,010 of those 20,000 required points if you don't upgrade, as Syldras pointed out, since you'll spend 15,990 on free track rewards, carry over 2,000, and then lose the rest. (You can't carry over more than 2,000, and the game will auto-redeem anything above that on any available rewards when the season changes over.)

The premium track exists to give you more stuff to spend your points on, especially for people who grind a lot, get caches from the sub/+bonus tier, or want the cosmetics.

When I opened my cache of tomes, I earned a couple thousand tome points. Which unlocked about five pages, and I did not spend a single point yet. So yes, EARNING points unlocks pages. Not spending points.

It's meant to replace both endeavors and daily login rewards, so yeah, it seems right. If you log in every day and do the stuff you get all the rewards. Different delivery, same outcome, pretty much.

ETA: Or rather, you don't even have to log in every day anymore, which is part of the point I guess. Just enough to do the weeklies.

Would be great if that was optional, and I could decide if I wanted to enable it to make sure I don't loose rewards and have to spend time carefully making sure that doesn't happen, or disable it if I want to skip inventory management that is unnecessary to me, if I have already spent time reviewing and buying what I want.
