New tome PREMIUM Monster Slayer personality don't use character own greatsword. WHY?

This personality is behind pay wall "Premium". It uses a greatsword on the shoulder ALL THE TIME. If someone (for some reason) decide to use the personality with a NON-GREATSWORD character it's ok the effect use a "fake" one unsheathed from nowhere.

But if we use this personality on an already "greatsword-owner" character, why the effect don't use the weapon already in place?

Is it too much difficult to create the effect? It demands to much devs work? Lack if dev capacity to make such specific visual work?

To see our character using TWO greatswords awkwardly at same time is heck WEIRD. And lame. Considering that this personality if behind a "pay money" wall, which supposedly should indicate best quality and special reward I really wish to know WHY it is so poorly made.

    I agree with this stance.

I would LOVE to see a group of personalities dedicated to brandishing a certain weapon - the staff "personality" has been around since the base game, for example, as seen with the Prophet, or in Orsinium with Kurog's mom, and all the way into Galen where the thicc-spriggans walk around with them. Plenty of animations have been assigned to these characters to make a massively comprehensive personality that I think every staff-wielder in the game would love.

The developers have yet to develop the code and systems required for personalities to use your equipped weapon.

I think they should really consider it. And also add it to personalities like Assassin (with daggers) and Maniacal Jester (also 2h)

It might not be reasonable to expect personalities to be customizable. That sounds like it could be complicated to implement.

What about every existing and future owner of those personalities being given a duplicate called "Monster Slayer (Custom)", "Assassin (Custom)", and "Maniacal Jester (Custom)"? And it functions the same, except the weapon used for the idles and emotes is the one equipped in your current gear or outfit.

The only downside I can see with this approach is that it might clutter the personalities menu. But it's not like that many personalities include a weapon.

If they can't program Personalities to at least use a generic weapon that matches whatever type you have equipped (a generic sword if you have a Sword, generic dagger for Daggers, etc), then they really should stop making Personalities tied to weapons. Nothing about 'monster hunter' strikes me as a person that only uses a 2H weapon that they also edgily carry on their shoulder at all times.

They did respond to this on PTS that it was not possible when we brought the issue then.
[*] Monster Hunter Personality [Feedback]: We have seen your feedback related to the Monster Hunter Personality that is being offered as a reward in the PTS Tamriel Tome, and the desire to have it use your character’s equipped weapon. While we agree that would be great with this Personality and others, it is unfortunately not within scope for us at this time.
Having said that, I absolutely think this is something they should look into, particularly for the Monster Slayer where the prop is permanent and not only used in emotes.

Fortunately, the emote props (even with Monster Slayer) can still be replaced with the old hide-helm-tap-block trick.

The issue with Monster Slayer though is that you can’t replace the idle.

(Also what happened to the Monster Slayer unique sneak animation we had on PTS?)

I mean after the Assassin personality this is hardly surprising.

I wish all personalities with props would work that way, so like Assassin personality daggers could also just use the model of dagger you have equipped.

I still like the new personality though... But it could be so much more with that small change.

If they can't use your equipped weapon, or even your equipped weapon type, perhaps they could hide your one weapon until you enter combat / draw your weapon?

The personality is such a good one, but it looks daft with a staff equipped - makes it unusable. If they just hid my staff while the personality was active, and brought it back when I went into combat, that would solve the issue.

That should not be to hard to do, even if not the same we all ready has a skill that change after with mount you use(trample). Lets not pretend we dont know the real reasson, the sword style from the personality you need premium to get and if players wants a full match they have to pay more.

My guess would be they would have to adjust the animation after every weapon out there to make sure the alignments are perfect, hence not feasible to use your own weapon.

They can't just set some sort of anchor point at the player hand and let the rest of any other weapon model be aligned/overlayed on an unrendered mesa sword?
I don't know anything about the spaghetti engine, but I imagine it shouldn't be as difficult as they claim. There are other examples of noncombat animations that use our weapon. Heck, sometimes even animations that don't have weapons will sometimes bug out and include them, with them being anchored at the hand still...
Even if it's only limited to other greatswords and not even include battleaxes or staves and such, I think they definitely had the ability to do better.

    Ok, now I'm mad.

I was going to give this personality to a future character who uses the Minotaur polymorph, which hides the back weapons and solves that problem a bit.
...but then I tested it on another character I have who also uses a 2H. And... it looks so good. Like impossibly good. BUT THE CLIPPING!!!11!!1
This is a premium personality, and is one of the main driving factors for people to buy the Premium tome, and to see it clip stupidly with any weapons other than dual wield is unacceptable.

The fact that we can even do the weapon replacement trick for certain emotes and then see how it looks at the end of the cycle just makes me so sad that we can't really have that happen. The fact that it's possible to replace props with that glitch shows that it would work perfectly if only they could make that possible.

At minimum, the short term answer would obviously be to make it so the Personality, when equipped, hides back weapons the same way the Minotaur or Atronach polymorphs do. They also should copy the default idle loop into /idle2 so we can at least trigger it and thereby use the prop replacement trick when we're just standing around.

But seriously... I realize that Personality Prop Replacement with equipped weapons is not something that's programmed into the game, but this one desperately needs it. That Mesa Stalker greatsword is too specific to a culture to with all of the varied fashions we have for our character. The team really needs to figure out how to get the prop to be replaced with the model for equipped weapons, even if just for this personality and only if you have a 2H equipped.
After all, if they could make that happen, it would sell so many Tomes...

This is funny. My wife and I had this exact conversation last night while going through the time offerings. It looks like you're in the intro to some anime, just standing with your big sword on your shoulder. I request one but I stead of the sword he has the big fish from the jesters weapon pack.

I like this personality, and I would like to use it with my characters who are two-handers. It is one of the reasons that tempted me However, when I saw the default two-hander sword that clips through my character's own weapon, my interest faded.

The animation should use our own weapon two-hander.

The Monster Hunter personality uses the Mesa Stalker Greatsword (found on the same page of the free track) because they're part of the same set. This set also includes the piercings on Page 7, which has some flavor text that explains the theme of the set:

    v7g6ajt984ui.png

I predict that this set is here because of the upcoming Crimson Veldt trial, which takes place in a section of Hircine's Hunting Grounds which is in a mesa/savanna biome. This leads me to believe that the portal we take to get to the Crimson Veldt will be located in Northern Elsweyr, right near the Delve mentioned in the flavor text.
